Also, I'm with Brian Last.  Corny isn't a racist, but he is a product of a different time and he refuses to change

If you make Mark Henry sad then you make me angry. Fuck Jim Cornette and his hillbilly mongloid stans (except Brody)

I'm much happier as a fan when I try and pretend that Jim Cornette was sent back to his planet in 1997.

Anyone who consistently listened to him would have known that his "liberalism" (a term that Americans don't understand) didn't extend to nonwhite, nonbinary issues.

I'm deeper South than Cornette but don't dare act like the outliers are false leftists. We're in a fucking prison down here, and homeboy's comfy in his pad in Kentucky. It's clear listening to him that he isn't a genuine leftist and only considered it later in his life.

EDIT: It's sad to me, not just because of what's been said, but because I generally agree with Cornette on wrestling matters yet... well, shit.

man just looking at the views and like/dislike ratio from the video for NWA from the first time they had to issue a statement on Cornette to yesterday this fuck managed to kill something else pretty quickly.

That was my fear.  His Cult of Cornette followers matched up perfectly with the product NWA was producing.  And they not only won't agree with the decision, they will outright hate the company for it.

It wasn't people on the live stream who were complaining.  The viewers of the product didn't really mind the line.  It was after it got posted to social media, and people who didn't really watch the product found out what was said that it blew up.  Those people aren't going to start watching NWA now that Cornette is gone, as it wasn't really their type of product to begin with.  It was really a niche market product, and they've now actively pissed off their niche market.

It was one of those situations where doing the right thing hurts your company.  And probably kills it.  At least this version of it.

Jim wanted to wrap things up because he had to poop.  Last kept talking and Jim finally just screamed "For christ sakes I gotta shit!" or somesuch and IIRC they did a hard cut to the finish.

Any lawyer worth their salt will get G-Raver off on First Amendment parody laws. If Larry Flynt can get off after making money off Jerry Falwell's image then an indie wrestler can skirt by off an obvious parody.

I agree with him...

This is pretty much how 80% of all ECW matches started during their height, or most WCW cruiserweight matches, or every lucha match since it's inception. And how is this any more choreographed than the typical, "Lcokup, headlock, shoot off, shoulder block, drop down, jump over, leap frog", that every match starts off with?

It's not like the entire match was this. It was the opening 30 second of the match.

And it actually wasn't half bad. They kept the pace up, at least, so the lucha-inspired stuff didn't feel too out of place (unlike when you see somebody take forever to do a fucking arm drag these days).

Plus, whenever Corny goes off on young guys "exposing the business," I'm reminded of this guy that he booked:

Also, considering this is the lawsuit-worthy shirt, and there are bands with muuuuuuuuuch bigger followings than G-Raver who have shirts like this (NSFW) and this for sale, slapping a suit on it is frivolous and just being done with the hope and/or knowledge that G-Raver wouldn't be able to afford his court fees. It's the First Amendment and it applies to everybody.

It's a couple of guys running through spots so fast they have to stop and wait for each other at points. The exaggerations about Lucha and ECW/WCW (ECW especially since a lot of people think it ages terribly) don't help their case.

I thought it looked kind of hokey but basically fine. Jordan Oliver, I feel like, will have a spot on somebody's roster in a few years just cause how uniquely hateable he is. He looks like trashiest member of a second tier boy band.

I watch more indy wrestling than most of the board so I think my tolerance for goofiness is higher. I think the fact that Laz and Beard Daddy are only other ones who don't hate it seem to confirm this.

My life on Wrestling Twitter has been so much less aggravating since I muted Cornette on Twitter.

If only I could mute this thread. :-\

Wrestling Twitter is the worst - especially when you're easily sucked into it. I basically unfollowed every wrestler (even the ones I like) on Twitter and actively mute any kind of wrestling related tweet if it happens to show up in my timeline, and I feel a lot more sane for it! If it's not wrestling videogame related, like Fire Pro or RetroMania, I'm not interacting with it. :)

Not going to quote Thrasher because the video was taken down, but at some point you have to think that that stuff just doesn't even matter that much in wrestling. Ever since gimmick wrestlers entered the business (and I'm thinking at least back to Wayne Munn in the 1920s) there have been guys who executed and bumped like complete shit and made money. And to think of it, the shitty gimmick wrestlers help the ones who lay their shit in because the fans think they're special for doing it.

Corny is ranting and raving about Dave Meltzer on the latest Drive Thru, comparing him to Republicans who know they're peddling bullshit but are too entrenched to tell the truth.  Dave Meltzer told the truth about JYD why won't he tell it about Omega and the Bucks GODDAMMIT!!!!!?!!?!!

Or like, he just has his own opinions, man.

a 60 yr old ranting and raving having a coronary about people liking things he doesn't is pathetic.....then again that more accurately describes the Republicans and Fox News folks he hates so much, but don't dare point that out to him

Dave has taken the highroad and I think everyone needs to at this point

The Flair-Steamboat matches are legendary.....but honestly if Corny could put the bias aside I think he'd dig the Omega-Okada matches a ton

someone get a Kenny > Stan thing going, he might be confused enough to think it has to do with a 25 yr old South Park ref

Also, it's kinda hilarious hearing Corny stan the revival like they're gonna drag the Bucks to have good matches that aren't all flips.  They've been doing all kinds of matches, including those kind where they sell and tell stories bro, for years brosef.  wake the fuck up you out of touch douchfuck

we need voters for Bernie Sanders.  Crusty Ol Corny is a turnoff.  So not progressive

I did not miss the irony of Corny's Dave meltdown being followed by Corny doing a commercial for mental health therapy.

I wouldn't say Twitter Dave has the "high road" since he talks down to so many.

not a flattering shot if that is in fact Bix, but he puts his name on it so I guess all is fair in love & twitter rasslin beefs.  Not sure what he did to piss off Cornette this time, but I guess he's just on a general warpath lately.  They used to be sorta kinda friends via the Last connection...

I like Bix because Between the Sheets is a great podcast that I quite enjoy listening to.  I've had times in the last few years where I needed to just kill time with something to listen to that I can kind of tune out to but enjoy as backround noise that I really appreciated it for.  I probably would not be IRL friends with Bix.  I definitely would not be IRL friends with Corny.  IRL I'm the kind of person who gets along with everyone, so all this internet beef just feels so pedantic and dumb to me
