CXF Fantasy Football '18 - League Champ Steak!
« on: June 07, 2018, 04:42:40 AM »

Spoiler: League Note • show

Here's the plan. We've had some discussion at the tail end of last season's thread to some league changes involving keepers. This is what will go down to be the fairest change to everyone. 2018-19 season will be business as usual using the keeper value system we have been using. For the 2019-20 season, we will go to a non-draft round value keeper system. Essentially no longer factoring in the rounds the players were taken in. Enough teams have already made their proverbial beds for this upcoming season that it would kind of fuck them converting over now. We will begin with that after this year.

The new system will stream-line the trading of draft picks quite a bit. Gone will be the struggle of figuring out what picks you may or may not have available to trade. Everyone will have the same number of draft picks.

The standard will be, for a team that hasn't dealt any picks:
Draft Picks in Round 1 thru 9.
6 keepers.
Then 5 positions to be fill through the post-draft FAAB frenzy.
Consolation winner still receives #1 overall pick.
Picks are tradeable at any time of the year. During the offseason, kepers can also be traded after the keeper deadline for picks or other keepers.

KEEPERS
Max number of keepers that can be kept is six. If you keep less than the maximum number of keepers you will be awarded a pick(s) in a random order compensatory round. The compensatory round will take place after round one in the draft.

KEEPER DEADLINE / LEAGUE YEAR
League year will run from March 1st to Feb 28/29.
The keeper deadline will be Feb 28th/29th. At this point your keepers are final. All players that were on your roster are free agents starting March 1st and are no longer considered part of your "team". The only exemption for removing a keeper after the start of the new league year is retirement, death, season ending injury, or league suspension. This can only be done prior to the start of the league draft. You will be awarded a pick in the compensation round as a result of discarding a keeper after the start of the new league year.

If a team fails to post keepers by the keeper deadline, the commish will appoint keepers for that team. That team will also be considered available until either the previous owner reclaims it or a new manager claims it.

Judging from last year's draft it took almost exactly 1 month.

Draft begins July 22nd.

Spoiler: League Rules • show

Quote from: Fantasy League Rules

A. Teams can select a maximum of SIX keepers of any position.

B. Teams can choose to keep less than SIX keepers.

C. All keepers must be turned in by 1 day after Super Bowl is over at midnight Pacific Standard Time.

D. Teams will lose a draft pick in the forthcoming draft corresponding to the round each of their keeper selections were drafted in.

(Example: Adrian Peterson is chosen as a keeper and he was drafted in the first round of the previous draft. Team will not select a first round pick in the next draft because Peterson will be that team's guaranteed player for the first round in the draft.)

E. If a team wants to keep an undrafted player as a keeper, than that undrafted player has the draft value and keeper designation in the following draft of a final round selection, Round 15.

(Example: If a team wants to keep three players chosen as undrafted free agents, then in the following draft these keepers will act as their draft picks in rounds 13, 14, and 15.)

F. If a player chosen as a keeper was drafted by another team and acquired via trade or as a free agent, the team choosing the keeper will lose the corresponding round pick that the player was drafted in.

(Example A: If a team trades for Marcus Mariota, who was drafted in round three, and wants him as a keeper then Mariota will act as their third round draft pick in the following draft.)
(Example B: Sammy Watkins is drafted in round three and then dropped, probably due to injury. Then another team picks him up out of the free agent player pool and declares him a keeper, the team keeping Watkins will have a draft value of Round 3 for the following draft not a Round 15 value like an undrafted free agent would.)

G. If more than one keeper was drafted in the same round, than one of the keepers will be slotted in the following round. However his draft round value doesn't change. He is just slotted into the following round.

(Example: A team wants to keep Mariota and Watkins who was acquired via trade, and both players were selected in round three of the draft. In the following draft Mariota will be that teams keeper for round 3 and Watkins for round 4.)

H. Keepers can be kept for 3 years at their original draft value. After 3 years three rounds would be deducted from their value. This would happen each year until the player would eventually be worth a first round draft pick.

(Example: Ryan Tannehill has a draft value of 14. Once three years are up, he would have a draft value to start the fourth season of 11. If kept for the fifth season, he would have a value of 8. If kept for a sixth season, he would have a value of 5. If kept for the seventh season, he would have a value of 2. If kept again, he would have a value of 1 and that value would remain constant until Tannehillis no longer kept.)

I. Draft picks can be traded at any point during the season, off-season, and during the draft. In this league, the amount of draft picks DO NOT have to balance on each side of the trade. If the trade occurrs DURING the fantasy regular season, at least 1 player must be included on each side of the draft to complete the transaction.

(Example: Team A trades Matt Stafford and a 13th and 14th Round Draft Pick to Team B for Matt Forte and a 1st Draft Pick. This is a legal trade.)

J. After the Fantasy Championship matchup has ended, the trade deadline period will be lifted. Trading can again commence. Managers must post in the Fantasy Football thread any trade and both managers involved in the trade must confirm the trade is true before it is validated.

K. During the draft, a manager has 12 hours to complete a draft pick. The time starts immediately following the previous selection OR the previous manager hitting their time limit. This is subject to change if we are strating to run behind on time to complete the draft.

L. If you draft a guy without stats for the prior regular season during the draft that is a Rookie BEFORE the Yahoo! player pool is posted, and he is not in the player pool by the END of the draft, you lose that player as a draft pick and any rights to that player AND will be forced to select someone from the remaining undrafted players ONCE the draft is completed.

M. The winner of the Consolation playoff bracket will be awarded the prize of #1 Overall Draft pick. This prize is an additional draft pick. If you have a round 1 value keeer, it will still be slotted in round 1. If you have two or more round 1 value keepers, they will follow standard keeper rules of being stacked and slotted in subsequent rounds. If you have zero round 1 keepers, than you will have two picks in round one. You will have the first overall pick PLUS your regularly slotted draft pick based on end of regular season standings.

N. Draft Format & Benchwarmer Auction. Draft will be 15 rounds. After the draft is complete we'll fill out the remainder of your 20 man rosters through a Free Agent Acquisition Budget Waiver. We'll call this the Benchwarmer Auction. The Benchwarmer Auction will take place on yahoo, just the same as we do each week during the regular season for the FAAB waiver process of free agents. Each team will get $100 to spend on filling up the remainder of their roster. If you completely fill your roster through the Benchwarmer Auction, you'll get a bonus $50 for your regular season FAAB budget. So make sure you put in enough claims so that you're at least ensured your extra money. Any unused cash from the Benchwarmer Auction will not roll over to the regular season. So don't be cheap. If you are trading draft picks, the number of draft picks involved on each side do not have to be balanced. So it is possible to end the 15 Round draft with more or less than 15 players.

O. New managers have two options to start their team. New managers are placed in order of first to express interest get first shot at potential exiting teams available as outlined in option B.

Option A: New managers can start fresh with a brand new team with no keepers. The managers will be entered in the early seeding draft lottery to determine draft pick seeding. They will be seeded before the team with the worst regular season record.

Option B: New managers have the option of taking over ownership of a team which has it's owner quit the league. By selecting this option, managers will have the draft seeding in which the previous owner would receive by its end of season standings placement, like all other managers. The players on that team would follow all preset keeper values that the previous manager had. Keepers will follow all previous rules and values. Essentially all that is happening to the pre-existing team is a change in ownership.

P. These rules are subject to review and revision after the season is over and prior to the start of drafting at the discretion of the league and the commissioner.

Hawk, Flagg, and Medium did not post keepers. They have until Sunday to write some names down or I'm just going to nominate players for them.

The thread title (as of 7 JUN) says "openings" as though there *are* openings, but if there are, who are they? I know there's a compensatory round, but what about a round dedicated to teams absorbing players from absent teams like last year?

Yes, I'm biased to this kind of setup because it meant I got Brady, but I felt it was worth asking what the openings situation was.

The goal is 16 teams. No more than that. I didn't get keepers from Flagg, Hawk, or Medium so I have no clue if they are returning or not. Im not trying to get in another last minute crunch hunting down people. Anyone that is interested in joining will assume control of any of the awol teams. It's first come first serve.

Current teams are not absorbing players from any vaccant teams. That was only done last year mid-draft because we got fucked over by 4 teams that vanished mid-draft and had already had keepers designated for them. Not happening this year.

There is no compensatory round this year. This year is the same format as previous year. A compensatory round happens for the 2019-20 season when we go to the new format. It happens in the event a team doesn't keep their maximum number of keepers.

Here is the available team. It was Medium's but since he only uses chat instead of the forum he's out. Not playing that game again like the past. Who ever wants it say so, and pick your keeper players from it. You can keep a maximum of 6 players. You can keep less than that. The note after each player is their cost if kept. If they have a designation of Round 1 then they will consume your first round pick.

10. Available Team 6-7 1519.12
QB Kirk Cousins (Round 15 - Year 2)
QB Teddy Bridgewater (Round 7 - Year 1)
QB Carson Palmer (Round 1 - Year 7)
RB LeGarrette Blount (Round 6 - Year 2)
RB Adrian Peterson (Round 3 - Year 1)
RB Tarik Cohen (Round 15 - Year 1)

Since this season we are under the previous keeper rules that means we have a final keeper change deadline still. I'll set that at July 1st.  So until then you can make keeper changes/trades that can effect your draft. Pus players that were part of your roster are still technically yours until the July 1st hard deadline.

Same format as last year man. Picks in rounds 1 through 15 minus your keepers. Official draft grid will be up somewhere after July 1st. Until then you'll have to look at other teams keepers and draft pick related trades to figure out what teams have.

Draft Order is in the first post. Keepers have been removed from the yahoo player pool.

Draft Pick Trade Notes:
Trade #2, Broward did not have a Round 7 pick to trade to Flik, Broward's next available pick to fulfill the trade was Broward's Round 5.

Divisions/Schedules

Division names:
Division with the reigning champ will be known as the Jimmy Graham Memorial. The other three will be named after 3 class of 2018 hall of fame inductees. Same format for division placement as last year. It's based on end of regular season total points. You'll face your Division opponents twice.

Weeks 1 2 3 4 12 13 = Divisional Games
Week 5 = Rivalry Week
Week 6 7 8 = Face out of division teams with the same preseason seed number
Week 9 10 11 = Interdivional games. (Graham vs Lewis)(Urlacher vs Moss) Play everyone else in that division that you haven't already faced.

2018-19 Divisions

Jimmy Graham Trophy
#1 Cartman
#2 Edwin
#3 Hawk
#4 St Gabe

#3 Harley
#4 BlackFlagg

Schedules/divisions will be in yahoo once Rivalry Week opponents are hashed out.

So with that said, make your rivalry week request and I'll see what I can do! I'll give it through the weekend for requests.

For reference here are last season's Rivalry Week matchups and in parenthesis if you will face each other this season the way the schedule is laid out.

Draft begins Sunday the 22nd gentlemen!

BlackFlagg can kick us off at any point on Sunday the 22nd. Once he picks on Sunday, it'll be the standard 12 hour per selection. Flagg has all day Sunday to make a pick, once Monday strikes he will be getting skipped. Hell, I really don't care if Flagg even picks earlier than Sunday. Time limits won't go into effect until Sunday though.

Also in the event a manager vanishes mid-draft, the plan will be as follows. Once they've missed their pick by at least 20 picks, they are going to get the best available offensive players autodrafted for them. The rest of any of their pending picks will also all be autodrafted at that time.

I'm trying to avoid another Roy-type situation.

Linx got Kelce before me, and you got my planned second pick, so EVERYONE'S MAD NOW.

Jimmy Graham, TE

I eagerly await the Jimmy Graham/Aaron Rodgers commercials after we let Claymaker go next offseason.
