NFL Week 6: Unstoppable Meets Immovable
« on: October 11, 2018, 01:08:55 AM »
THURSDAY NIGHT
PHI @ NYG

EARLY SUNDAY UNLESS YOU'RE IN THE UK
TB @ ATL
LAC @ CLE
IND @ NYJ
SEA @ OAK (in London)
CAR @ WSH
BUF @ HOU
ARI @ MIN
PIT @ CIN
CHI @ MIA

THE DESTRUCTION OF JASON GARRETT
LAR @ DEN
BAL @ TEN
JAX @ DAL

WISHFUL THINKING
KC @ NE

GET RIGHT MONDAY NIGHT
SF @ GB

So who ya got? I find the Rams on the road at Denver to be a highly intriguing matchup, especially if two of the three headed WR Rams monster can't clear the concussion protocol.

Chiefs at Patriots is interesting on paper but I can't help but think it'll be the start of KC crapping away another hot start. I expect us to see FULL ANDY REID MODE and Kareem Hunt gets eight touches followed by a press conference where Reid says "yeah, we got away from what was working..."

I saw a stat that Belichick is 31-3 in October games. I think Kansas City has a very good shot at winning if Mahomes goes nuts as the Patriots D is prone to giving up yardage and a few big plays.

Brady isn't quite Brady (sitting at a career low 10.4 YPC and 6 INT through 5 games) but Sony Michel's starting to find a groove behind the OL and James White is essentially serving as a 3rd/4th WR behind Edelman and Gronkowski. Hogan remains the WR to make a big play or two a game while Dorsett is ensuring himself as a reliable albeit unspectacular outside presence until Gordon develops a solid role/rapport with Brady.

Besides Chiefs/Patriots, the other two interesting games this week are Pittsburgh/Cincinnati, which should be a total bloodbath, especially with Pittsburgh desperate, and LA/Cleveland which features two talented teams that have a knack for grasping defeat from the jaws of victory.  Baltimore @ Tennessee could have AFC playoff implications as well.  I just don't get Tennessee as they've won a few games where I gave them no chance due to injuries, and then followed that up by losing to Buffalo.

If the Giants win Thursday (and I fully expect them to blow it again), there is a chance they could be 1/2 game out of first....at 2-4...

The Eagles have been so lazy and disinterested so far that I can't say it would shock me if the Giants win, even if on paper they should get massacred.

I don't think you can have Eli as QB right now. That was bad.

Also, how bad is it that the lone bright spot was Saquon Barkley?

feel bad for Barkley as he's on the worst team in the league.  Guy is an absolute beast.  Next Marshall Faulk. Kind of funny as Faulk got drafted to an abysmal Colts team.  He's the only reason I'll be watching any games rest of the season

season is obvs. over.  No reason not to just tank and get the first pick and get a new QB next year.  What a shitty sports year

I suspect the Giants will end up with Herbert.  Most of the other really bad teams either have rookie QBs (ex. Arizona, Buffalo) or injured QBs (ex. San Francisco).  What other bad teams would go after him?  Oakland maybe.  Tampa.  Miami.  But I think all three will end up with better records than New York.

The Raiders are 5-15 since Carr refused to sit on the bench with the whole team during the anthem.

Fuckin Bengals had a chance to set up that bye and put the Steelers in the danger zone and they choked again. Every game matters in this league.

I was right about the Dolphins. Bears schedule gets a little tougher and they could finish 6-10 or 7-9 which would give the Raiders two nice picks.

The Pats defense isn't good, but they're playing against the best QB in the league.

This defense is disgusting.  McCarthy's going to be out of a job at the end of the season barring a major turnaround.

I was calling 6-10 before the season.

Is Petite showing why he was jobless the past 2 years?

Well we definitely couldn't afford to drop that one, but it sure didn't give me much confidence given how bad San Fran is.  I'm glad Crosby rebounded though after the disaster of last week.  He's not a bad kicker.  I don't know what happened last week and I'm glad it didn't ruin his career.

There seem to be fears that Allen needs Tommy John surgery, which would put him out until at least 2020.

ESPN's Vaughn McClure reports Devonta Freeman (injured reserve) will undergo groin surgery on Thursday. He could return but it won't be for at least 8 weeks.

Jaguars signed TE Blake Bell. I've always liked Bell as an athlete but he hasn't quite carved out a role in his NFL career. He's a solid receiver but hasn't quite settled in as a blocker yet.

Quote
A Twitter user made this highly inappropriate observation on March 18: “ur gonna be mad when JuJu ends up like [Ryan] Shazier.” The same user later posted a screen shot of Burfict pressing the “like” button as to that sentiment, a reference to the serious neck injury Shazier suffered against the Bengals last December.

Burfict has since un-liked the tweet. But Burfict still has this message on his list of likes, over a photo of Smith-Schuster holding up an image of himself standing over Burfict, immediately after the hit that triggered a suspension: “I want to see you lay this boy out. He thinks he’s big sh-t cause he blind sided you, but he ain’t ready for you, he don’t know what he got himself into!!! @TeamJuJu go ahead and keep bragging, you ready to get carted off the field this season?”

https://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2018/10/18/vontaze-burficts-digital-footprint-shows-a-desire-to-inflict-injury-on-steelers-players/

Death threats to another player are okay,  but saying you want to hurt another player is inappropriate.   Gotcha.

My issue with Burfict isn’t that he wants to injure other scumbags, it’s that he’s not good at his job anymore.
