JaVale McGee did his postgame press conference last night dressed in a Grinch costume.

Slim, are you gonna start planning your vacation to Sacramento to see the Dave Joerger statue with "5-3 at the beginning of November" engraved in the bottom

I don't root for the Kings any more; I been off that narcotic. I only root for players now, not teams.

Oddly enough, I still hate the lakers, tho.

Nah. Maybe if I had some actual reason to root for them, but I don't.

Tyson Chandler is being bought out and the Lakers are frontrunners to sign him. Fuck yes. I cannot stress enough how much they need a backup center. Even a bad one.

If you aren't already, start reading up on all the Cleveland drama.

All the veterans have been mad since Ty Lue got canned, which makes sense because they are getting benched.  They've also all turned on rookie Colin Sexton acting like he can't play.  Most recently JR Smith was tweeting endorsement of Trae Young for Rookie of the Year,

One of the other interesting pieces coming out was when Kyle Korver signed his deal last year. he made a handshake deal with the GM that if Lebron left in free agency, they would trade him or buy him out -  a condition of him agreeing to a 3-year deal.  When Lebron left, the Cavs still insisted they were in win now mode and refused to trade him as promised and now he is one of the guys they are forcing on the bench.  I know at one point he considered retiring after his brother's death late last year but he still could be a bench scoring presence for someone, somewhere.  Wonder if he will get stuck now based on all this going public but I could easily see him fitting in with joining Lebron in LA or going back to his original NBA home, Philadelphia.

Devin Booker back again and the Nets still curb stomped the Suns at home last night.  Going to see the Celtics, still pissed off about Denver, in town tomorrow.  May be a slaughter but I will enjoy it in my Terry Rozier shirt.

ESPN had an article the other day saying the only team dumb and desperate enough to give Washington anything of value for Wall would be the Suns

Uh.. you must not know the subject matter. That’s exactly why they said the Suns.  They specifically said because the idiot owner would get antsy and push something.

My only counterpoint is in addition to dumb as hell, he’s cheap.

Lakers should win but fuck Luke Walton. At least we have a backup center now though. Would have lost that game if Chandler wasn't on the squad.

Set in the Diamond district of New York City, Sandler will play a jewelry store owner with a gambling addiction who is juggling two relationships and escalating debts. Garnett will play a famous basketball player who is a new client of Sandler’s. It’s a significant role for Garnett, whose movie experience has been limited to an uncredited turn in the 1994 college basketball drama Blue Chips. He also played Wilt Chamberlain in the 1996 TV movie Rebound, which starred Don Cheadle as Earl ‘The Goat’ Manigault. Lakeith Stanfield, star of Atlanta and Get Out, will play a member of Garnett’s entourage who introduces the NBA star to Sandler’s jeweler.

Kyrie also has been holding the ball a lot.  Tatum hasn’t gotten many touches.  Brown has forced up bad stuff.  Not much for Horford and Hayward playing scared.  Only guys to really look alive have been Smart and Rozier.  A couple nice things from Morris but he always has an extra chip on his shoulder here and got a flagrant early.

Those MVP chants for Booker were terrible lol.

Now Kyrie is playing up to his potential. Just destroying these guys.

Celtics are going to win. I think Booker embodies a lot of the worst aspects of Kobe's game and he doesn't have anyone who's going to force him to play differently.

Celtics played like trash most of the game and the Suns played the best they did all year but as expected they collapsed down the stretch.  It was just great that the Celtics could come back from 20.  It was a double digit lead all game until like the final five minutes - any better team and it wouldn't have happened.

Booker was off for a lot of the night but still finished with almost 40.  I think you definitely saw the Kobe stuff down the stretch because he felt he had to takeover.  TJ Warren had a nice game tonight but he isn't going to regularly play like that and Ayton had some nice numbers kinda quietly.

Had this really obnoxious Suns fan behind me that even if I was going to go root for the Suns per usual, I would've wanted to punch in the face.  He was talking shit about what a THUG Marcus Morris was.  I told my dad before the game I thought Marcus would come up big and was so happy when he hit that shot to force OT.  Held my breath when he was shooting though.

Rough game to watch for the bulk of it but it was a fun final few minutes of regulation and OT.

Celtics are not in sync though.  Really worried about how they are going to do tomorrow in Utah when they had to rally like crazy against this Suns team.

Jazz fans are weird

I'm certainly expected to be embarrassed as a Jazz fan tonight. I would have like to see him resign, because I think they went out of their way (trading for Rubio, resigning Ingles) to try to make the team better than what it was. It's hard to play that what-if game about Mitchell's ascension if Hayward stays. That said he went to a just as good situation or most likely a better one. And the Jazz are fine, I would hope the fans won't be petty as shit, but let's be honest that's not going to happen.

I'm more excited to see the edge that Jae Crowder is going to play with tonight.

I know it’s not all fans but the Jazz seem to have that weird pocket of fans that wish death upon former players and other overreactions.

And lol at salty ass GO BEAR - flopping when Hayward went by acting like he got elbowed in the mouth.  All replays show like a foot of space between Hayward and HO BEAR

I said this in the preseason thread, but I think Philly is the favorite in the East now with getting Butler.  I’m less confident of that now than I was at that point, but I’ll stick to my guns.

Also, rumors are circulating that Melo may be done in Houston already.  lol

I think it had a lot more to do with who made them win than that they won. One of the most respected vets in the league is going to get love.

I've also seen a lot of people taking a shit on the Suns the last few days...in part because of Chandler playing like this, and in part because they keep losing. It seems entirely justified.

The Suns are a team that went from 1988 to 2010 and missed the playoffs three times. You can go back to 1975 and add four more to the list. That's seven playoff missing seasons in 35 years, a franchise that has earned the right to be called a proud franchise. I don't know who to blame for what the Suns have become, but there seems to be no end in sight.

The Suns, despite never winning a championship, had one of the best franchise winning percentages in league history up until recent years with (at the time) forty some years in the league.  A lot had to do with the Jerry Colangelo years.

The majority of the blame for the Suns falls on current owner Robert Sarver.  Sarver got the team right around the start of Nash’s second stint.  What a lot of people don’t realize was the Suns were pushing to get Kobe when him and Shaq were fighting and Kobe was a free agent, before the Lakers resigned him and traded Shaq.  There are even photoshopped recruiting materials floating out there of Kobe in the Suns uniform with Amare and Marion.  Sarver always goes for the cheap option.  When they got Nash, it was weird because it seemed like they paid him more than the market but he was still the cheapest “name” free agent at the time.

Due to the system, it worked out like a happy accident and they started their last good run.  There were a few things out of their control like Joe Johnson leaving to get paid and get numbers rather than stay on a contender but for the most part, cheapness and weird decisions have plagued the team even when they were winning.  Steve Kerr was the GM and wanted to set the prototype for what the Warriors are doing but got resistance both on making a trade to draft Curry and play minimal defense.  Every time the team has made progress, they do something to get in their own way.  Look at the year they pushed the Lakers in the WCF in Amare’s last year’s there.  They weren’t supposed to get that far and were a few plays away from a different fate.  Instead of building on it, they didn’t want to spend money.  The year I did the liveblog and they overachieved and JUST missed the playoffs because of how deep the West is but would’ve been like third in the East, they did weird financial moves to lose or piss off guys.  Like after getting Dragic and Bledsoe to gel, make the big move of signing Isaiah Thomas - simply on being the cheapest name possible despite making no sense.

It isn’t even the product on the court that suffers either.  It’s really sad because I used to love that arena and the building itself isn’t bad but everything in there feels cheap and second rate now.  Even the concessions have changed from like chains you knew - whether national or local - to these weird knock off things you don’t hear of outside that building.

It won’t change until Sarver goes and he isn’t going anywhere...
