NFL Week 13: Jeff Driskel and Cody Kessler Starting QBs Edition
« on: November 26, 2018, 11:06:40 PM »

Also the Jaguars are so screwed with Blake Bortles, short of finding a trade partner for him. If they cut him in 2019, they'll have $16.5 Million in dead money to pay. They have an out in 2020 if they cut him in which they'll only pay $5 Million in dead money.

Any franchise that gave that cat a long term followup deal is nuts and has this coming to them. I don't care how good last season was for Jacksonville, it was impossible to ignore that QB was the position holding them back and the decision to stick with The Human Turnover was what destroyed a potential annual contender for the next decade. The bright spot is that an answer might exist in the draft but even then you have to wait on a rookie to develop, all while that cap hit is there.

The officiating in this Saints/Cowboys game has been horrific.  Inexcusable.

Big win for the Cowboys.  They will probably win the east pretty easily and maybe even have a shot at the 3 seed

Yeah that Jaylon Smith non-call was about as egregious as it can get.

I liked that they didn't call either Kirkwood for OPI or the bearhug that was slapped on Demarcus Lawrence on the Saints' TD.

And the Smith helmet hit is offset by them not calling Dak nearly getting his head ripped off by an uncalled facemask.

The Cops not arresting him because it was "unclear if any crime was committed" is just as baffling. They definitely would have been shown the CCTV footage if nothing else simply by asking if the hotel had any cameras they could look at. The fact that the OWNER knew this shit happened and "doubted (he) would be arrested" implying the NFL also knew all about this situation. Jesus Christ.

Chiefs and NFL knew of this shit since Feb. Both look as bad as Hunt IMO.

They didn't pick up Ray Rice. It's over for this guy unless he does some major penance. The only team that would pick him up already has a very good RB who did something bad himself.

While I mostly agree,  Ray Rice was basically washed up when his thing happened.   Hunt isn’t.   That aspect keeps his chances of coming back to the NFL alive.  However he plays a position that is readily replaceable and isn’t worth the immediate backlash.    It’s have to be a franchise that doesn’t care about backlash.

Oh no.

Rice had a more expensive deal. Hunt is on a rookie deal. Only risk a team takes on is fan backlash. So Redskins, Browns, Bengals and maybe Tampa seem like front runners.

Hunt also committed the grave sin of lying to an NFL front office when all that shit around the league is the oldest of old boys clubs.

I’d include Patriots and Chargers.   Patriots have no issue with issue players and Chargers don’t have a fan base.

The only teams that need Hunt's problems are the Raiders, Bucs, and Jets.

The Raiders have a policy against taking woman beaters, never have and never will.

The Jets play in New York, so they won't.

I don't know what the Bucs will do.

The only teams that are willing to overlook Hunt's problems are Raiders, Bucs, Jets and Redskins. Patriots could take him to go "the Patriots way can save him", but I think because he lied Bill would go "no, I'm not taking him in" because Bill seems to have a thing about that. If I had to guess of those who would take him, Redskins seem to have no scruples, but they also already have issues with the last pick up. The Bucs have the Winston issue. The Jets are the Jets, so could go either way. The Raiders have Gruden who likely would make a splash if they could do so. So probably them.

However, because he's still on his rookie contract, someone will likely waiver pick him up. It would be really hard to let someone like Hunt just hit waivers. So it could be someone completely surprising and willing to do it.

Then again, thing is, how bad of a lie was it that the Chiefs dropped Hunt just mere hours after this all came out? I mean, it might be an old boys club, but even then, this was like "fuck it, you are gone". I believe we're going to hear more about this and while this looks bad, the story Hunt gave might make this even worse.

I actually don't know what Ryan Pace and Matt Nagy think about bringing in players with major baggage. But they legit hate Jordan Howard and fully plan on replacing him in the offseason or draft with someone else. They knew if they did it last offseason fans would get pissed. They needed to let Howard get exposed so fans wouldn't get pissed. Nagy ran the KC offense last year. They'd have to go through Virginia McCaskey to get an ok though on adding Hunt to the roster. I don't think they will jump on him instantly, could be a possible avenue down the road for Hunt to get back into the league on a depth chart if he goes unclaimed.

I really think Bucs & Skins are the only teams to claim him outright. Otherwise he will need to try and redeem himself. If he hasn't found a roster by 2019 season. I bet he ends up on a team in the CFL or AAF.

Also I agree with 909. He won't be on the Raiders. Gruden has 100 draft picks they'll just draft a RB. My guess will be Round 3. Another possiblility is making a spalsh with a certain free agent RB from Pittsburgh.

The Jets won't claim Hunt. Not only because the NY media would tear them apart as 909 alluded, but the GM has pretty much been on record saying that he doesn't condone domestic violence from his players, implying before the previous draft that Joe Mixon was off his draft board as a result.

Mahomes is within striking distance of the TD record.  I'm pretty sure he's at least at Manning's pace that year.

I still think the only thing in KC's way is Andy Reid being Andy Reid in the playoffs.

KC won't go far if their players can't take a Stone Cold Stunner properly. The dude on RedZone called it a DDT! I demand more wrestling-related celebrations. I've already seen players do a DBZ fusion dance, I want to see someone do a moonsault onto a bunch of their teammates from the first row.
