NFL Week 16: Philip Rivers Playing Like It's 2008
« on: December 20, 2018, 04:48:35 AM »

With Gordon out, Patriots making a lot of smaller moves including activating CB/S Duke Dawson and RB Rex Burkhead while signing LB Ramon Humber (largely a ST maven).

Dude couldn't get his shit together and stay together for more than 3 months. He finally would have been a free agent after this season, and still couldn't keep his life in order. Not even a massive deal dangling in-front of him was enough incentive. I can't believe he has very much money left since he's been on his rookie contract this entire time from all the suspensions.

Maybe we will see him play football again in one of the other leagues, but who really cares. He's going to go down as a complete waste of elite talent just like Justin Blackmon has.

This is the most vulnerable the Patriots have looked since Tom Brady tore his ACL.   I guess we will get more forcing the ball to Edelman then since Hogan has done nothing and Gronk looks like he's 80 years old.

Remember how bad it was the last time the Patriots didn't get a bye and had to play in the wild card round? It might be a worse beatdown this time.

Ravens have announced John Harbaugh is coming back next year and are working on an extension with him.

Ravens have announced John Harbaugh is coming back next year and are working on an extension with him.

Not too surprised given the turnaround and how the defense has been performing all year.

He has the team in the midst of another playoff run despite being losing 4 of 5 at one point and losing his "star" QB in Joe Flacco to injury and RB Alex Collins to injury. Don Martindale's stepped up as DC and has Baltimore as 1st in PA on the year, which is very impressive.

Lamar Jackson and Gus Edwards have been really good. They still need a legitimate 2nd WR behind John Brown (Snead and Crabtree are possession guys) but this Ravens offense has the makings of being pretty solid for the long term: Lamar Jackson at QB, Collins/Edwards at RB, John Brown/Rookie WR?/Snead or Crabs as the 3rd WR, and Mark Andrews at TE.

I think the Ravens could go all the way.  This is a much better team without Flacco.  If they get in the playoffs, I wouldn't want to play them.

Love how the helmet rule is so inconsistently applied/called after the pre-season chaos (and outright bitching from media/fans which resulted). Not surprised the NFL doesn't call it at all and now we see players getting injured/still leading with their helmets and resulting in bad hits that the NFL was supposed to be weeding out.

https://www.nytimes.com/2018/10/14/sports/football/nfl-helmet-to-helmet-hits.html

"Again, no flag. In the first five weeks of the regular season, in fact, only four helmet-to-helmet penalties had been called."

The Jets 4th quarter defense is comically bad.

Indifferent to them actually winning at this point, but can't help but get frustrated watching them shoot themselves in the foot with killer penalties.

At least Darnold looks good.

I felt that way about him a bit earlier than most here and it seemed like he was a guy that people didn't like to hear any criticism about until this year.

The right choice.
