Not too surprising but the Jets are expected to fire Todd Bowles. Jets finished 5-11 in 2016 & 2017 and need to beat the Patriots to finish with that record for 2018.

Also heavy rumblings that Gase is out in Miami after last week's performance as owner Stephen Ross was reportedly, "pissed," about everything.

Marvin Lewis after three consecutive seasons of no playoff appearances and of course an even larger body of failure will decide his own future.  Most expectations are he will return with Hue Jackson and Vance Joseph, two coaches who failed as his OC and DC, respectively.    If he chooses not to return, Hue will take his place as head coach.  All this and Mike Brown wonders why the stadium continues to be empty.

Koetter was DOA once the defense fell apart after 2016 (15th to 22nd in PA 1 year) while his offense remained similar year to year.

Also as 909 said, reportedly Mike McCarthy turned down Arizona's offer of complete control over personnel to be the (likely) new HC of the Cleveland Browns.

GET YOUR STUDY ON, 909!

The Raiders are hiring NFL Network draft analyst Mike Mayock as their new GM, Adam Schefter shares.

Also Packers requested to interview Josh McDaniels & Brian Flores while the Browns requested to interview Flores.

The Fins have axed Adam Gase. It's sad that Miami could never really get over the hump. They had the one playoff year but were humbled in the old country way in the Wild Card round. It feels like a team with no real direction at all. The Dolphins are the definition of "we're here and things will happen."

I wish Big Mike luck in Cleveland. If Baker Mayfield falls off a cliff following a very successful rookie campaign then the "was it McCarthy holding back the Packers" question should be answered.

I really hope Hue Jackson doesn't take Marvin Lewis's place.

McCarthy apparently has already turned down the Arizona job, so signs are he is indeed going to Cleveland.  I liked him, but I feel like the game passed him by.  He's a very by-the-book guy in a league that in recent years has favoured creativity and aggression.

It is also why whoever the Packers hire, I hope it is a good offensive mind.  I've made my opinion on McDaniels clear in the past, but I'd still take a chance on him instead of some DC or LB coach.  While our D does suck, our path of winning is through the offense.

Stephen Ross is a bottom five owner in the league.  That's why the Dolphins are always a mess.

Falcons cleaning house firing OC Steve Sarkisian, DC Marquand Manuel, and ST Coach Keith Armstrong. EDIT: Apparently Dan Quinn will take over the DC duties next year in addition to being the HC.

Eric Bienemy's an early hot interview candidate, as expected, but so is Saints AHC/TE Coach Dan Campbell and Colts OC Nick Sirianni. I have a feeling that Brian Flores, while a decent candidate, is largely fulfilling the Rooney Rule for most teams.

As expected, Detroit is parting ways with OC Jim Bob Cooter while Buffalo has let OL Coach Juan Castillo go. He has ties to Andy Reid in KC and Philadelphia so it'll be interesting to see where he lands.

Also Kliff Kingsbury is interviewing for the NY Jets and Arizona Cardinals while Eric Bienemy is interviewing for a multitude of teams.

Green Bay signed Matt LaFleur as their new HC.  He worked under Sean McVay and Kyle Shanahan prior to his one year stint in Tennessee.  I like that he's young (39) and a fresh offensive mind, which is what I wanted so I'm cautiously optimistic despite a mediocre showing from the Titans offense last year.

I think one of the things that probably intrigued them was how good the run game was in Tennessee, particularly the harnessing of Derrick Henry. The Green Bay brass seems to want more balance to their offensive attack, coupled with a fresher schematic front so I think LaFleur's a pretty good hire from that POV.

He worked under Shanahan/McVay and learned to call plays last year while dealing with injuries along with the intricacies of game planning that goes with actually getting to call the plays.

It took them over half a season to start using Henry. You would think they would want to use the giant beast more to open up the passing game and soften the defense. Definitely wasn't what they tried to do most of the year. Nothing that happened for the Titans screamed offensive guru at any point this year. Can't even blame Mariota injuries. When he was healthy, they still were terrible. Good luck Green Bay.

He did eventually figure out Henry.  Also, Mariota is not good.  Not as bad as Gabbert (who started 3 games, so that was a problem right there), but he's still never really developed properly and is always hurt.  Tennessee should probably be looking at a replacement soon, although they probably won't.

A couple more HC jobs clinched up: Freddie Kitchens is getting promoted to HC in Cleveland (Smart move IMO. Keeps the Kitchens/Baker combo together) and Vic Fangio is the new HC in Denver (Long time coming for Fangio who's overseen a lot of good defenses).

Obviously wise to keep Baker and Kitchens together, but I can't help but think of the situation in Tampa from a few years ago where they promoted Koetter (dumping Lovie after a two seasons of a rebuild) for the sole purpose of ensuring they didn't lose him and disrupt Winston's development. I'm not saying promoting Greg Williams was the answer, but hasn't Kitchens never been a coordinator before inheriting the interim position this past season?

The Browns also announced that they're parting ways with Greg Williams, anyway.

Kitchens is pretty raw but he's coached QBs, RBs, and TEs at the NFL level since 2004 under a multitude of coaches. The rapport/turnaround he had was leaps & bounds so I think Cleveland kind of had to promote him lest they go backwards in Baker's development.

On one hand it sounds like a good idea on paper.  On the other, this is pretty much the exact same thing situation the Bucs had with Drik Koetter a couple of years ago and we saw how that worked out when they made him head coach.  Time will tell.

Gase probably shouldn't have been fired by Miami.  He had them competing for a playoff spot deep into the season despite one of the least talented rosters in the NFL.  I think it is a good hire for the Jets.

I've seen every Dolphins game under Gase minus maybe 6 or so. I can tell you that he has bit of an ego, is very predictable with his play calling on offense (which he refuses to give up) and isn't a good head coach in the way of leading his men (the Dolphins locker room turned on him going into this season).

I liked Gase because I liked his vision for the team, but after 3 years it was obvious his vision was only going to work if everything was perfect (barring injuries, etc) and that just isn't the case in the NFL. He would probably be a good OC, but he'll never be a coach that takes his team to the Super Bowl.

I just think the Dolphins are a bottom 5 coaching job in the NFL and he overachieved considering what they have to work with... even though he certainly hasn't lived up to the hype that people tried to give him as a Quaterback coach and an OC who worked with Tebow and got to benefit immensely from Peyton Manning's last three years as a great.

You can easily make the argument that they had THE worst roster in the NFL.  I think they definitely overachieved this year.

I definitely think it was the worst job open this off-season.  No QB, no talent, and one of the worst owners in the NFL who often jumps the gun in firing people.  At least with the Bengals you will probably have some reasonable job security and with the Cards you have the first pick in the draft to work with.
