So Frank Mir's "wrestling" debut was a 2 minute submission victory over Dan Severn. Mir looked way out of shape but still looked like he can kill most wrestlers.

It wasn't a classic but very solid little match. Tanaka can really fuckin' go for a dude with as many miles on the odometer as he has. Weirdly the match kind of seemed an afterthought and kind of backdrop for Joey Janela's return to Beyond.

More Than Mania 2019 thread cross post but maybe not really since this show was 3 and 1/2 hours away.

I went to the first episode of Beyond Wrestling "Unchartered Territory" last night in beautiful Downtown Worcester, MA.  It is a fantastic concept (2 hour weekly TV style show but indies) but maybe a year or two later. Last night was awesome cause they could pull out all the stops being relatively close to WrestleMania but wondering where they will be 8 or 9 weeks down the line.

Big standout, showcase match of the night was Beaver Boys Vs Aussie Open. Aussie Open will be with WWE very shortly. Just big talented, charismatic, and confident dudes from a relatively untapped market WWE is trying to play into.

Beyond seems very intuitive of what indy talent to emphasize, IE what talent is least likely to get snapped up ASAP by WWE. Show was built around Chris Dickinson (too bald and hairy and also swears too much)  and David Starr's (too stubborn and woke for WWE) feud.

It'll be hard to top the mixed tag between Jordynne Grace and Brian Cage Vs Orange Cassidy and Session Moth Martina has to be early favorite for Match of the Weekend.

I watched that show on IW.tv and it was a lot of fun. That mixed tag match was brilliant. Orange and Martina are perfect together.

In news only Kamala and might be interested in, our buddy Anthony Greene won his match at Evolve yesterday. It was a scramble match with the winner getting an Evolve contract. So happy for AG.

I like Cam a lot too. He's natural heatseeker and great weaselly heel but I think he may have some injury issues? He's gonna be the host/backstage interviewer for Beyond's weekly television series

Anthony Greene is someone I think will eventually get into the bigs through his sheer passion and hard work. It's been really a pleasure the last 3 or 4 years watching him evolve (er, no pun intended. Seriously) through a bunch of trial and error (his fratboy gimmick...not so good, Al) and become the wrestler that he is today

All I know of modern Anthony Greene is that he did a slide over Bobby Orlando's back through the ropes and into the adoring arms of his valets at CZW Twenty and it was awesome.

He did an amazing spot at an Evolve show in Queens a few weeks back. He went to the top rope, walked out onto the rope, grabbed a balloon that was there, did a flying cross body, rolled out of the ring and handed the balloon to a guy in the front row. It was amazing.

Seamless spots like that are so fun. Simon Diamond nailing a shout-out gourdbuster as he did his "thinking man" pose immediately comes to mind, too.

Watching Episode 2 of Beyond Wrestling Unchartered Territory on YouTube. Gangrel just took a pretty nasty clothesline bump on the hardwood floor. What if he is this year's PCO? What a world.

It sounds like he will be doing more matches in Beyond. I will flip the fuck out if we get Orange Cassidy Vs Gangrel

Someone on Twitter neatly pointed out that Chris Daniels is only 10 years younger than Robert Gibson and 13 years younger than Ricky Morton. So for all of the talk of "Generations Colliding", there's less of an age discrepancy between SCU and the RNR Express than there has been between SCU and some of their recent ROH opponents!

Watched the third episode of Beyond Wrestling Unchartered Territory the other night. By far, it was their best produced effort. Really love that it manages to effectively put 2019 independent wrestling in an old school studio wrestling format.

Chuckie T Vs Wheeler Yuta was a fun opener. It was really cool to see Chuckie play an ruthless rat bastard heel since I'm so used to seeing him be a babyface and/or do comedy stuff last few years.

Josh Briggs on color commentary sounds a lot different than you'd expect him to sound. PBP is v. good by indy show standards, I think.

So far, they are managing to do a good job of balancing building long term storylines (MJF's Dynasty battling Chris Dickinson & Joey Janela, Kris Stadtlander Vs Kimber Lee) and the special guest appearances. I'm concerned if the MJF and Janela feud will be able to hindered by them being AEW guys (despite Janela repeatedly saying being in AEW won't effect his indies schedule)

We might have a contender for Rando Comeback of 2019. Antonio from forgettable '00s WWE tag team The Heart Throbs is now Thomas Santell, doing a George McFly gimmick. And it rocks.

Quite the career trajectory. He was a Ken Shamrock ripoff MMA gimmick back when I was going to indie shows in the early '00s then to the '00s version of the American Males to channeling Crispin FN Glover.

Speaking of Joey Ryan. He announced that at Bar Wrestling on May 30, he's going to make an announcement about his future. I'm guessing since it's at Bar Wrestling, and that's where BTE shows up to announce their signings, that he might be headed to AEW.

Beyond update: I've missed last few episodes but Ken Doane (Kenny from The Spirit Squad) has debuted and is doing a "I used to be in WWE so I'm better than all of you." gimmick which would be good except he was probably one of the biggest busts in WWE history and that weird, super brief angle with Ziggler in 2016 aside, hasn't been in the company for 11 years. Maybe that's the point.

Anyway, they're planting seeds for a feud with Thomas Santell and now, I feel like The Spirit Squad Vs The Heartbreakers might be a match at Americanrana 2019. Hot dog.

Went to Beyond Wrestling's secret show in Fanueil Hall on Sunday.

Pretty good stuff outside of the venue being hot and sweaty as balls. I guess the owners of the bar didn't want our R rated chants invading the ear waves of the families outside. It did kind of feel like Beyond Wrestling's "sell out show". First show in Boston proper, in a chain restaurant (if Ned Devine's isn't a chain then it's one of those restaurants that feels like a chain" The thing I like about Beyond Wrestling in 2019 is that they have genuinely unlikable heels. Guys (and gals in the case of Kimber Lee) that aren't afraid to be hated. Although Chuck O'Neill is bordering on "This guy is bad" heat rather than outright heel heat.

They're also doing a great job of making the best out of a thinning roster. I'd never have guessed a year that the hottest acts would be Orange Cassidy, BEAR COUNTRY and one of the Heartbreakers doing a George McFly gimmick and yet here we are.

That show was great. I had a lot of fun watching it. Although I had to run out after the 3 way was announced and didn't get home until after intermission. I love the idea of this show. No card announced, no wrestlers announced, you just know it's a Beyond show.

The only thing I didn't like was when Bear Country was talking about being the Ace of the tag division. I'm starting to hate the idea of an Ace in wrestling. They've been in the company for what, 2-3 weeks, and they're calling themselves the Aces of the tag division. Unless they're heels and calling themselves that to get heat, just don't.

Oh you bet your ass I'm going. It's my best friend's birthday and luckily, he loves wrestling almost as much as I do. How exciting it must be for him to celebrate a birthday with TYE DILLINGER.

tarting to hate the idea of an Ace in wrestling. They've been in the company for what, 2-3 weeks, and they're calling themselves the Aces of the tag division. Unless they're heels and calling themselves that to get heat, just don't.

Bear Country calling themselves the aces was dumb. I think they were like 5-0 when they cut that pro. A 5 match winning streak is nice little run but jeez. Indy promotions in 2019 way overuse the term "ace". I was kind of happy to read that David Starr & Eddie Kingston (who was wrestling as ACH, claiming he acquired the rights to the name when whatever ACH is calling himself now signed to NXT) ended the streak last night. That promo I think immediately incited an unintentional backlash, which is too bad cause Bear Country is a pretty fun, young team of hosses.. EYFBO/LAX also cut a promo bagging on Bear Country calling themselves the aces. And if there are tag team aces of Beyond, it's EYFBO.

Beyond Wrestling announced that the main event for Americanrana 2019 at Foxwoods Casino & Resort is David Starr Vs Joey Janela in a 60 Minute Iron Man Match. Joey Janela will be the first pack a day smoker to work a 60 minute match since Harley Race.

Yeah, I enjoy Bear Country. Bronson is a local guy for me as he is from Create A Pro, like Statlander. The ACH thing had me rolling.

That Statlander vs Janela match was fantastic, and it was great to see Joey actually wrestle, and look good doing it. I'm hyped for that Janela vs Starr match.

Yeah, I was incredibly surprised. He held his own really well against Statlander. He's no ZSJ or anything, but I was very surprised.

Started watching aforementioned episode. I feel like I say it every week (and I haven't even gotten to Janela/Statlander) but I think this is the best episode yet. I'm heavily biased but I think it's best weekly wrestling television series.

Not to say that there aren't talented people still on the roster but whoever is booking now (I don't think it's Drew the owner anymore) has done a fantastic, Paul Heyman in '96-esque job of getting a lot out of a little. Even Cam Zagami is over.
