Harley, thanks again for all that you do, your draft coverage is really awesome.

I think I've seen the Bengals taking about 7  or 8 different guys at the #11 spot so I am pretty excited about tomorrow!

:) I really like going deep on these prospect rankings and giving you guys some other names to potentially look at or get a quick synopsis of if your team drafts them. I'll definitely have my share of horrible misses and acknowledge I have my biases but every year I try to refine myself and get "better" at ranking prospects and I feel I've done that over the decade or so I've been doing these threads/rankings.

Rosen is trash.  They are doing the right thing by giving up.

They picked Jones because they feel he, like Eli, is best suited for making dumb faces after turnovers.

Goodell has all the charisma of a wet bag of socks. There should be more excitement to this thing.

Not big on the N'Keal Harry selection but his positives in relation to New England: Bigger body in a Josh Gordon mold to win 50/50 throws, tenacious run blocker on the edge with overwhelming size against most CBs (should help replace some of Gronk's run blocking here), good after catch ability and utilized in the run game and as a return man at ASU ala Patterson, and finally ran a more varied route tree than most of the other WRs on the board and did get coached up by Herm Edwards for one season so he's used to NFL level coaching.

With all that said... I'd love to eat my words on him but all I saw was simply another Laquon Treadwell level big body talent. He's a guy who was very hyped up coming out but struggled mightily with separation in college which has translated to the NFL level where he's largely been a bust for Minnesota.

The thing that separated the Gordons, Dez Bryants, and Demaryius Thomas' that were of similar ilk was that they were athletic freaks with legitimate speed and ability to get away from DBs. Even Patterson had that trait coming out and I just don't see it with Harry.

In a night where ESPN insisted on telling us every horrible thing that ever happened to these draft picks, his sounded like the most brutally awful upbringing, so combine that with his apparent social issues, it’s not a good combination but honestly just from reading that, I didn’t see it as racist reaction, I saw it more as a guy who doesn’t handle things not being the way it’s supposed to be and when that gets disturbed, he becomes unhinged.

Could it be a racial thing? Sure but this specific story sounds more like a different thing,  also we are taking this view from a scout who publicly tells a reporter “the blacks”, not sure now much I’m trusting him.

The more I think about the Gary pick, the worse it seems.

So he comes in injured to the degree that surgery is probable, then they are asking him to switch positions - so he's Datone Jones and Nick Perry all over again, his Wonderlic score tied my couch's, the GM sounded like Sarah Huckabee by saying "Stats aren't everything" to explain why his numbers aren't better and the GM admitted he had the blinders on for 2 months that this was THE GUY.

Then we trade away our bread and butter picks to hope an undersized safety can start RIGHT NOW.

Edited in most of the UDFA signings in the first page for various positions.

Patriots did really well in this draft. Love the Damien Harris pick and they got a couple tall, length CBs in JoeJuan Williams and Ken Webster. Made several depth picks for the OL for short term/long term fits. Not super big on the N'Keal Harry selection but they did sign WR Xavier Ubosi and Jakobi Meyers (again, two taller big bodied WRs).

I really think the Patriots will be emphasizing more of a ground & pound attack this season and be less spread out with the emphasis on OL and big WRs who can physically dominate if coached up to block for their size.

Glad you assessed it the same way I did. One must assume that the first round pick of a WR means picking someone who can "run through the air" essentially. Brady can play to 45 as long as he only passes it with a 10yd Air Before Catch system.
