HHH revealed in the NXT conference call that he has been cleared to train.  Ha, he's workin' Mania.  LOL

So since HHH is on a 5-7 WM streak of having the longest match, then the only hope is we get Orton vs HHH vs Batista with Flair as ref to at least make it a clusterfuck and not a lay around dramatic battle.

Abyss has to be an offscreen role. He lost any appeal he had in being onscreen guy in WWE like ten years ago! Who cares about a less famous combination of Kane and Foley?

Yeah, I don't think anyone expected Abyss to be an active character on WWE TV in 2019. I am shocked at just how quickly he bailed after his HOF induction but pretty much all of their Hall of Famers jumped ship besides Gail Kim.

Why would anyone expect any different?  Abyss and Borash have always been close so with Borash having a big hand in NXT, it’s totally logical he’d advocate for Abyss to get an position alongside him.

The Rumble takes place on 1/27 at Chase Field in Phoenix, which is set up for 43,000 fans. There may have to be some tarp or papering because there are plenty of tickets left.

The expectation right now is 25,000 to 30,000 paid for the Rumble, 7,000 to 7,500 for Raw at the Talking Stick Arena on 1/28, which would be a big disappointment, 6,500 to 7,000 for Smackdown on 1/29, and 8,500 to 9,000 for Takeover on 1/26.

source: WON

I can't believe those numbers. Yikes.

As for Abyss, he'll be on TV at some point. If you think Vince won't use a guy that big I don't know what to tell you.

I wondered whether Phoenix was a big enough market to support shows on four straight nights. The Rumble might have some empty seats being in a baseball stadium, but 30,000 paid for a non-WM show is a pretty big number.

Vickie Guerrero supports the Border Wall. Maybe she should manage AJ Styles.

This isn't getting enough traction. Yeah, just bring Vickie back to manage AJ. Both will be faces.

I loved me some Abyss in TNA that said I haven’t really watched it at all in like 8 years (?). Joseph Park was fun as well. I’d mark for a cameo or token appearance but yea clearly the ship has sailed on him as an active worker. It would be amazing if they could snatch the rights to his music too.

I wonder if it has anything to do with the shutdown? Rumble is one of the 5 shows they do here that depends on a large chunk of Euro fans to travel abroad.

I sat here for a minute and tried to think of who else was in the Rumble that may have been left off the poster, but that's... it. I guess you could add Orton but that's friggin' IT.

They could have at least thrown in the women’s wrestlers there.   Adding Charlotte and Bayley couldn’t hurt.

Also, R Truth would have been ok.   The original posters had Duggan on it, there’s a place for Truth here man.

Last year’s win isn’t in the match at the moment.  He’s on the preshow fighting for the US Title.

Apologies if this theory is floating out there already but I think Finn may win Sunday.

Watching RAW now, I could see this being a rehash of when Brock lost to Eddie.  We could get Braun coming in like Goldberg, seeing they aren’t done.  Seth could still win Rumble and either do triple threat with Finn and Brock or a pivot and give a work rate title match in Seth vs Finn and we get Braun finally beating Brock for no title at Mania.

I’ve seen a lot of people speculate/fantasy book that Balor winning isn’t far fetched since Brock isn’t going to be the main event anyways at Mania and that means they can do more palatable Seth/Balor Championship rematch.

However this is WWE and Brock so I still don’t imagine they’ll do it.

Yeah, I still expect Brock to win but Balor doesn't feel as crazy unlikely as other challengers in the past.  Which is good for Finn either way.

Given that if they just want to do Brock Braun Seth Balor in some capacity and since Bryan is such a intensely effective character right now and makes everything work, never has it been more seemingly appropriate to have a true out left field winner to take the Rumble and to challenge Bryan.    I’m in full favor of a Bryan-New Day feud or even if they wanted to give us a Mysterio/Bryan dream match at Mania.

I like both of those.  On their podcast, Edge and Christian had interesting choices along those lines with Christian picking Samoa Joe and Edge picking Andrade but as awesome as it would be for one of those guys and the subsequent match with Bryan, can't see them going heel versus heel.

Andrade could maybe get a face reaction in Phoenix but his act with Vega really is a heel act.

I'm in the same boat as well.  I do expect Brock to win, but it isn't impossible for Balor.  I actually think he has a better chance than Strowman would have, even if he's still a massive underdog.

Trying to figure out why all of EC3's appearances to date have him as a mute when his biggest strength is his talking ability.  Maybe they are going to make him a heel that won't shut up after the Rumble?  Just seems weird.

Fearing he's gonna be treated as a "retribution de-push" meaning since he actually got over in TNA much like Lashley....he will be going thru a sizable period of total apathy and misdirection characterization. We will see but so far it seems like he's a massive afterthought to creative.

So to follow up on Meltzers surprising predictions for attendance in Phoenix over the weekend for all the shows, to go in line with that....I was at Axxess tonight and it was easily the lowest attended fanfest I've been to from WWE. Personally that wasn't a bad thing for me as I got thru tons of photo ops this time around. A line for Asuka I got thru in about 10 minutes as an example. In addition the NXT UK tapings was a very low attendance for the first hour at least. Even by the end of the night when we came back to see what the main was (which was a Kavita Devi/Chelsea Green glorified squash match?!) there was still lots of empty seats. Best match of the taping was probably Coffey Bros vs Burch and Lorcan.

Dammit... my buddy that I am doing shows with was wish washy about going to Axxess.  I debated going by myself, now it sounds like I should have.  Guessing Friday would be the quietest.

Finn CANNOT beat Lesnar. You not only kill all of the rub Brock has carried this far, but you kill the idea of the Demon character as well.  Finn needs to lose and win next month as the Demon. I would feel less inclined to stick to this formula had Finn been building momentum and addressed this character issue over the past several months instead of this hotshot build.

They should have an incident backstage that causes him to come out as Demon and beat Brock cause at this point, no one gives a shit about Brock’s rub because his title run has been awful

having balor lose just to have him next month would be insane. Just put him over. It in no way kills Brock's rub to just have him lose to Balor. Having guys lose and then win is what has killed off so many of wwe's faces.

The Demon should just be an elaborate entrance for the big shows.  Nothing more.  Not some silly alternate personality that comes out when it is time to Finn to win a match.  That just trains audiences not to care when Finn isn't the Demon.

I would assume The Demon gets mostly phased away anyway as Finn is selling plenty of merch without it and Aleister Black is on the horizon as their next era of Undertaker character.

Also, Finn winning means Brock can just move right over to a WM program with someone else since the McMahons have kayfabe pulled back on the automatic rematch clause.

Letting Finn win here would be one of the best booking decisions they've made in years so it ain't gonna happen. They dabble exclusively in stupid choices when it comes to Brock.
