If all places, Ambrose popped up on the Hawkins & Ryder toy podcast to do an interview today.  It was entertaining hearing the usual Ambrose talk about the toy collecting habits of those two but there were some subtle takeaways to Dean.

He talked about hearing these two talk about toys and how it reminded him of what got him into wrestling as a kid and living out his dream.  Toward the later part, you got some sense of that burnout where he talked about liking Hawkins & Ryder because like him they were lifelong fans who loved it above all else and appreciated the art - unlike a lot of the guys in the company who only care about the paycheck.

Based on what he said, I still could see him either doing a break or AEW and not be surprised either way.  Wasn’t a ton of new insight but just interesting and I think it makes eccentric Dean even more likeacle.

Dean will take a very short break and show up at Double or Nothing. His passion for the business is way too strong to go on an actual break.

Probably a test run before the match happens on TV/PPV. I say Ambrose puts Nia over and that's it for him. I'd love for Dean to have a match at WM as his swan song.

We were talking about the dangers of AEW signing too much WWE talent in the AEW thread.  I was wondering about your guys thoughts on whether they should sign Ambrose or not.  A lot of us have criticized him a lot in recent years for his lackluster matches and such and this recent heel turn has been a massive failure.  It isn't like WWE has never given him a chance, even if he's been given some lousy material.  He's been heavily pushed for some time.  I agree that he probably will go to AEW (assuming the whole thing isn't a work), but should they actually want him?

Ambrose is one whose motivation usually reflects his work.  I would assume there would be a new spark lit in AEW where he would be pretty awesome, given the right opponents and the creative freedom he is not afforded in the machine.

of course they should want him. Not even a question. He's a big star (as much as anyone is) and he's tight with Jericho and Cody.

He's one of the big money VIP signings at Mania so I'd think there's a good chance that is happening. If they were burying him in shit on the way out I'd like to think they wouldn't have the cheek to expect people to pay $150 to meet him on the way out but who knows with this company.

They'll probably have him lose to Nia at Mania and he'll be doing the HBK vs Hogan sells.

I really don't watch much anymore, but I did flip over and saw this segment. My gut tells me this was probably more effective than it would have been with the script.

You mean he wasn't quitting wrestling because his time in WWE didn't go how he wanted? Sounds like bullshit to me I don't believe that video at all.

On a more serious note, the imagery depicts him breaking out of prison so that tells you what he thinks of WWE.

I can only assume they were trying to guilt him into staying or retiring. The way people went out there saying they thought he would retire, WWE must've truly believed it. Lol.

Could you imagine someone having to stick needles in their ass instead of doing this? Kind of incredible.

Moxley in AEW is about the only way I'd be really hyped for it at this point (the dustin promo was cool too) so if this is a real hint (which it probably is) than I'm interested.

All the stuff with Dean escaping the Big Dawg and the Asylum is really funny and great SYMBOLISM and feeds all the online fans. Anyone who thought he was going to retire was a moron. He eats, sleeps and breathes wrestling.

He's walking in front of Viper Room, that's their logo. In fact it says Viper above the dice. Wait, Viper works in WWE UK. SPECUALTION Ambrose is heading to WWE NXT UK for an intergender match with Piper Niven!

The production is really slick and well produced but it’s delightfully  cheesy in the most appropriate Moxley way so it stays right on brand for him.

Amazing how many people thought he was going to retire. He sent that video out 5 minutes after his contract expired.

I'll admit to being one of the people that thought it was a work (and it still could be!) but I never even entertained a second of belief that he would retire. Why? He still has many years in his prime working age. Why retire now and then be forced to work (or have your wife work) into your old age? Idiots. A guy whose main gripe seemed to be "please let me use barbed wire and bleed more" is not going to ease into the sunset.

If he really feels that way, then I'm starting to think he's somewhat nutty.  Complaints about booking and freedom of expression is one thing, but wanting to take more punishment after everything we know what it does to people today is something else.  My opinion on Ambrose/Moxley has gone down significantly if that's how he really feels.

Some people are wired differently, man. I support Moxley going back into the deathmatch scene, personally, if only because I can't wait for the matches with Jimmy Havoc, Nick "I learned fucking psychology" Gage, and Spike Trivet. Let alone what he could do with Joey Janela...
