Halftime Heat 2019
« on: February 03, 2019, 08:35:48 AM »
WWE NXT Halftime Heat
February 3rd, 2019
Live from the WWE Performance Center in Orlando, Florida
Announcers: Shawn Michaels and ? (I assume the regular NXT announce team and hope it isn't an overly excited Corey Graves)

Adam Cole, Tomasso Ciampa, and Johnny Gargano vs Aleistar Black, Velveteen Dream, and Ricochet

WWE tries to counterprogram the Super Bowl Halftime Show for the 1st time in 20 years (although Wikipedia tells me they aired an interview with a still recovering neck surgery Stone Cold in 2000) with an all star NXT six man on WWE Network.

I really like this idea and hope WWE continues with this as a yearly tradition especially if we keep getting mediocre ass halftime shows like Maroon 5.

I honestly didn't expect a crowd.  I thought it was going to be another empty arena match.

What is on Dream's tights? Hashtag something?
A Horrible Premise - Episode 48: TEN CORGIS TAPED TOGETHER - an improv comedy game show podcast about creating 'horrible' tv shows.

Opposite Attractions - a comedy design podcast where two idiots design their very own theme parks. SEASON 5 HAS BEGUN!

I am truly pumped to find out that Velveteen Dream is a Pats fan.

Are they showing the game to the fans at the Performance Center and having an awkward af Super Bowl Party?

Holding it in the PC they’re guaranteed a hot crowd. I saw Oney in the crowd.

maybe im just not feeling generous but i wasn't feeling it. all the work as far as hitting stuff was good but theres no selling or psychology its just getting your shit in. its fun its own way especially as a break during the big game but doesnt do it for me. I get the people who did like it but it's not my thing.

It was the equivalent to an All Star game: just the best guys doing what they do.

Yeah, I feel like "everyone getting their stuff in" was kind of the point. They're giving you the best reason to not watch the halftime show and trying to get new eyes onto their product. This was the best way to book the match.

Watching this now.

-I wish Black kept the Tommy End name, only because I think "Aleister Black" is too on the nose. Either name is good but I prefer Tommy End. His entrance is great but the vocals of the song ruin it for me. Off-tune screamo crying doesn't make you come across as a tough guy, kids.

-Ricochet's theme would be better with no guitar, all synth.

-"Johnny Halftime" chant and I'm looking forward to the day when Gargano is a footnote. Least interesting person in this match, least interesting indie star of his generation. Jonathan Gresham smokes him in every way but he doesn't look like an American Eagle model, soooo...

-Constant movement and constant action. Ciampa working the headlock on Velveteen makes me smile.

-Spot, spot, spot...Ciampa's headlock is still the highlight.

-HBK as color is lousy but STAR POWER~

-In a perfect world, a good chunk of this match would be Black just going nuts on everybody with kicks and elbows, even his partners.

-Really, really fun match, but JEEEEESUS stop standing around between spots waiting for the next guy to get into position.

Fun spotfest overall, but it felt like a forgettable PWG midcard affair. ***

Maybe the real deep state was the friends we made along the way.
