It's bizarre. In the regular season there have been only 20 streaks of 16+ losses since 1908. The '96 Cubs were the only team in that bunch who didn't lose 90+. These are playoff teams losing 16 straight. Though to the defense of the current Twins players, 12 of those losses predate the entire roster and this Yankees' team is clearly better.

The Twins have never lost 16 in a row in the regular season since moving to Minnesota.

Pretty big choke job by the Dodgers. I actually think the Nats can beat the Cards.

And the Nats win their first playoff series *after* Harper leaves

Good news for Dodger fans is the Dodgers can't lose in the World Series this year.

That Braves game was just brutal.  Down 10-0 before they even get to bat.

Okay, holy shit. No wonder why the family didn't want this out there. Jesus Christ, that's awful.

And I don't care if it is going to be difficult to prove whether the alcohol or drug killed him. The fucking employee needs to be in jail for getting Skaggs addicted. And if the drugs were obtained through the Angels, well, they are going to get dinged for sure.

My gut instinct is that if someone is/was addicted to the extent Skaggs was, they have more than one supplier.

Great win by the Yankees.  Tanaka is getting up there with Pettitte, El Duque and Cone as the most clutch Yankees post-season starters of my lifetime.

Yeah, he started abusing that before the Angels. However, this employee continued to supply and help keep up his addiction. So yeah, no. Fuck that guy.

Yeah, he started abusing that before the Angels. However, this employee continued to supply and help keep up his addiction. So yeah, no. Fuck that guy.

It is very easy to get that stuff in this country. If it ain't him it's someone else. Skaggs killed himself. Also, an addict like that, with the details listed in the story and everything, would have long gotten rid of the pills Kay gave him before they arrived in Texas. They get them and use them as fast as they can.

I'm gonna be blunt. The family may have known that he was an addict and didn't do shit. Don't know how they couldn't know. We also don't know how Skaggs became addicted. The fentanyl is definitely what killed him, and the investigation doesn't say that Kay gave that to him.

Here's the problem from where I stand. The problem is that playing sports is very difficult. Vontae Davis has talked about how NFL locker rooms are full of pain pill addicts. Steroids are banned. Weed is banned. CBD is banned. You want to know where these problems start? When these leagues don't give the players a safer avenue to deal with their pain, people are going to turn to pills that are legal. Then they are going to obtain them illegally to deal with their pain, then it becomes a full blown addiction.

The employee supplied him infrequently and should be banned from baseball. But I do pose the question of where that ends? That's a road people may not want to go down. There are almost certainly star players who would be caught up in this, who trade pills with each other the same way Jose Canseco and Mark McGwire shot each other in the butt. If MLB was to impose an opioid testing program and investigate those who tested positive...

Also, these are executives that knew about this issue. We aren't just talking about some batboy or a trainer here.

His family may have known. Getting through to an addict is easier said than done.

This problem obviously goes deeper than Skaggs. Halladay’s death was the result of painkiller addiction. MLB needs a program to help opioid abusers. Punishing the suppliers is a temporary fix but it isn’t going to solve the real problem. 909’s post is spot on.

Regular season it's whatever, but it's a bit silly when your team has already lost home field and control of a playoff series.  It's like the dude who throws a lob to himself when his team is down 20 points

The Astros will win this series cause they ain't doing all the stupid bullpenning the Yankees are doing.

The Nats are the team of destiny though because they repelled the Cardinals devil magic.

Really?! One is a game winner in a huge playoff game, where if they go down 0-2, going back to NY for the next 3 that's pretty much it. The other is a basket in a blowout. Yeah, I totally see how both things are exactly like each other.  ::)

May 23, 2019, the Nationals lost to the Mets, falling to 19-31 on the season. Since then the Nationals have gone 71-38, tied with the Dodgers for best record in the National League. If they don't slip up in the wild card team, they're dangerous. On merit I think the Nationals are probably a better team than the Cardinals.

Ross just doesn't come across as a guy that can garner a clubhouse's respect. All those guys in that clubhouse are just his buddies. Listening to him broadcast numerous games, he doesn't even remotely come across as intelligent at analyzing the game. One would have thought if he had interest in coaching after he retired he might have joined Joe's staff. Instead he just made our ears bleed with terrible commentary.

Weird hire. I give it no more than 1 season. Complete waste of a year 2020 will be.

The Nationals scored three runs total in their three home games. I feel bad for their fans honestly. They trailed every game by the middle of the 2nd inning.

This series as a whole has been devoid of late game heroics. Game two had the latest lead change of the series (7th inning), and that was also the biggest blowout.

It's interesting that this Series now depends on the performances of injured Max Scherzer and noted socialite Zack Greinke. There have been some praiseworthy individual performances. George Springer and Juan Soto. Stephen Strasburg beat the Dodgers twice and now beat the Astros twice, a postseason that should be legendary in Washington baseball history no matter what he does this offseason.
