I don't know if this has been posted but it's really well-written and worth the read:

Huh. I only just now realized that it hadn't been posted, but I would have just figured that y'all were already aware of it, anyway. Every now and then, I forget that we don't all watch the same shows/track the same people on social.

Milwaukee over Detroit in 4
Boston over Indiana in 5
Philadelphia over Brooklyn in 7
Toronto over Orlando in 6

Golden State over LA Clippers in 6
Utah over Houston in 7
Oklahoma City over Portland in 6
Denver over San Antonio in 7

Really looking forward to this first round. Every series has potential to be a banger except Milwaukee-Detroit and maybe Boston-Indiana (and even then I think Celtics might bungle that into a competitive series) IMO

Just looked at the replays of the Nets game, and I don't really blame the Philly fans for booing. The Sixers just looked like they were sleep walking in nearly all the highlights I saw. I mean how do you not bother covering Caris LaVert?

Sorry for having actual reasons in this discussion. I'll steer clear from this modern day NBA on here until I learn how to only reply with tweets and IG posts.

I mean, you know who else's personalities didn't mesh well with the guys on the Warriors? Nick Young and JaVale McGee. I'd also argue that the technicals thing is grossly overblown, but mileage can vary on that.

My point was that some of the things you brought up are the types of things that usually only get pointed out when you don't like a guy. Nobody talks about how technicals and personality mean that Draymond Green ain't shit. Westbrook gets criticized for all kinds of reasons, but all the T's he gets never seems to be among them.

Ah, true. Get where you're coming from there.

But for me it mainly comes down to the Achilles injury. The only guy I can think of who made the recovery and came close to what they used to be was a guy who was never more than an average player before the injury happened. Plus the idea of a guy the size of Cousins having to try and come back from it... I just don't see it.

Like I was really jocking that dude coming here, but it's hard to deny the facts. He is also like 280 pounds.

Torn quad is on the same leg as the torn Achilles.

Proven correct.

Steph was made fun of on Twitter when he said Tiger's win was the greatest comeback in sports history. Obviously people brought up the 3-1 lead his team blew. One day later, after making those comments, his team lost a 31 point lead to lose their game. Let the comments continue.

I'm not sure if there is any correlation between achilles injuries and quad injuries; I think it's just a coincidence that it was on the same leg.  Regardless, he's injury prone; he's only played 70 games four out of his nine seasons with only one of those coming in his last five.

Dominique is the only guy I can think of to come back from the achilles injury and still play at a high level.

Man, I turned the GS-LA game off when LA was down 30.  Looks like GS checked out too.  That should NEVER happen, much less to a #8 seed at home in the playoffs

Draymond's mom is on twitter ripping the shit out of the Warriors

Really sucks for Cuz.  Sounds like a partial tear that won't require surgery though

Cuz probably will now resign with the Warriors for another minimal single year deal. I can't see him leaving for a payday that probably won't come.

Hell, I wouldn't be surprised if the Warriors offer him a two year deal and he takes. No chance anyone offers Cuz anything close to what he's worth because of the two injuries.

Looks like this was just a Phoenix issue that made USA Today.  The AZ affiliate tried claiming it was a national issue that they screwed this up for ten minutes and missed the final threw of the first half, despite no other areas but Phoenix reporting this issue.

The Westbrook in OKC era has failed. His offensive game has fallen too far for them to ever be competitive at the top of the league, he no longer has any reliable scoring weapons. He's way too interested in passing out from the rim to guys who shoot three pointers, he should be finishing every chance he gets at this point. He led the league in turnovers last season in part due to over passing. His jump shot is fucking garbage.

I decided to look up some of John Wall's shooting stats from earlier this season because people were talking about how fat he was and how bad his contract was. I present you with this.

Westbrook

Distance|FG%

At Rim .647
3 to <10 ft . 223
10 to <16 ft .333
16 ft to <3-pt .349
3-pt   .290

John Wall

At Rim   .622
3 to <10 ft .300
10 to <16 ft .406
16 ft to <3-pt .386
3-pt   .302

Westbrook is due this...

Oklahoma City Thunder   $38,178,000   $41,006,000   $43,848,000   $46,662,000

His triple doubles stopped having value to me around the time I noticed every OKC big just letting him have rebounds or when he kept passing out of open layups/dunks. The former, where you have to let a guy rebound the ball or it'll be knocked into the stands on accident cause both players fight over it, sounds like a toxic environment.

Too bad for OKC that contract is literally untradeable. Not only because of his level of play but because it's impossible to match contracts with something so big without giving up far more than he's worth.

I've seen this happen ten times now this series. Westbrook rushes ball up court before the rest of his team can get there. He steps one or two feet inside the 3 point line. Pull up jumper in front of multiple Blazers. Clank... rebound Lillard or McCollum.

I also can't handle that dude laughing at a reporter asking him legitimate questions. You're paid 30,000,000 a year and that dude would be lucky to clear 100k. Not answering the question is also obviously extremely distracting to Westbrook himself, so I don't get it. It's childish.

I can see why guys refuse to answer when they're asked stupid shit like "where are you playing next season," but that's never been in question.

George is clearly their best player.....the problem is he hasn't been the same since the shoulder injury and is likely playing with a torn labrum.  He shot well in game 4, but he hasn't been himself for months now.

I still think that OKC can be successful with PG13, Westbrook and Adams as the core...but they need better role players and more shooting.  Might be time for a coaching change too

I meant to respond to this earlier, but how much money do you think OKC has to spend on players? Those three guys are due almost $100 million next year, they're capped out for the long term. It's much worse than that though. Their entire team is locked up until 2020 or longer. They will never have cap space to sign anyone if they have George, Westbrook, and Adams. Nobody will trade for that Adams contract. The cap is only so big and if a team wants good role players, they have to let one of their stars bounce the fuck on outta there. OKC decided not do that and they're stuck with what they have. Look at these bullshit ass contracts.

Dennis Schröder   PG   25   5   4 yr $70,000,000   $17,500,000   $62,000,000   2021
Andre Roberson    SG   27   5   3 yr $30,000,000   $10,000,000   $30,000,000   2020
Jerami Grant   SF   25   4   3 yr $27,346,153   $9,115,384   $27,346,153   2021
Patrick Patterson   PF   30   8   3 yr $16,354,800   $5,451,600   $16,354,800   2020

The year on the end is the expiration date. Before you factor in the luxury tax, they owe $147 million to their players next season. They're fucked. They do not have the ability to sign anyone or trade for anyone that has functional championship winning ability. Those players are the only players they can trade and are literally worthless. They could parlay the Patterson and Roberson deal into another horrible long term $15 million a year contract though. That's literally all they can do. Evan Fournier is the only player I can think of in that range with a deal the team may not want to pay out. Short term deals don't help the Thunder because those players would be gone after next season and they can't replace them, so they're stuck flipping deals for $17 million players like that for as long as Westbrook and George are on the team.

They can't win with that core because Steven Adams is fucking garbage and they made a bad deal. Adams gets $25 million a year for 13 points and 9 boards, those numbers always shrink in the playoffs too. The salary cap is around $100 million and they spent all that on three players. George and Westbrook also have what I like to call contract explosion. At the end of their deals, the two of them are owed around $80 million combined. Can't win with that unless they had great role players before they paid out that big second and third contract.

I would try to trade Adams and Westbrook if they fail next season. Burn the whole thing down.

Don’t want to get too hyped after one game but happy to have a solid win and steal home court

If Celtics have their head out of their asses, as they have thus far in the playoffs, I still like their chances and definitely favor them over the Bucks.  There were a couple stops Baynes had on Giannis that made me happy.

Think Toronto should handle Philly easily because I think Philly's immaturity has really shown and curious what happens to guys like Butler and Harris next season.

As for the West, I am glad after Houston and Golden State beat on each other we will have some new blood in the conference finals with the winner of Portland-Denver.

Do you guys think Horford can maintain that defensive presence over the entire series, or that Giannis will make adjustments and figure out better ways to score?

If i'm being honest, I don't think Boston can contain Giannis for the entire series, but this game was awesome to watch.

As for the West, no disrespect for Devnver and Portland, but the Western Conference Finals is happening in round 2 this year. Winner of GSW/HOU is going to stop either team. (I think it's Houston's year)

I think Horford is the perfect kind of vet that'll slow him down for most of the series. Crafty, underrated in strength and agility... it's pretty much gonna go like Gasol vs Embiid will in the other series.

I don't see why Boston is (or maybe I should say was after today?) underdog in this series. They beat The Bucks last year without Hayward and Kyrie. It's gonna be a tight series but I think Celtics will win in 6 or 7. I'm still a believer.

They'll probably get smoked in the Conference Finals by the Raptors tho.

People have slept on Horford for a while.  Even dating back to his time with the Hawks.  Giannis won’t be as quiet in other games but I don’t have faith in the consistency of other Bucks.  There could be a game where Giannis goes nuts and the Celtics could still win because all other Bucks fade in the background.

They won one road game.  They only have to win at home now.

Kawhi is beasting and I forget about some of Raptors roster pick ups this year but truly feel if Boston gets out of their own way, they should be able to win the East.
