2019 NFL Week 7: Screw Mahomes, Ryan Tannehill is Starting!
« on: October 18, 2019, 04:45:13 AM »
Mahomes is officially out for at least 3 weeks, decent blow to the Chiefs. But more importantly, Ryan Tannehill is starting for Tennessee and Ryan Fitzpatrick is back as the starter for Miami!

Also Goodell is planning to include 17 games for the future CBA talks when it expires in 2020.

Unless they are cancelling a pre-season game doing that, I really don't think the PA is going to agree with that.

There's been talk that the NFLPA is actually in possible support of a move to a 17 game regular season. #1: Players would make an additional game check payment wise. #2: It would likely cut out a pre-season game, necessitating less chances of an injury in a 'pointless' game. As it is, it's basically 3 games and a worthless 4th game (5 for teams playing the HOF Game). #3: NFLPA may try to tie it into expanded rosters, probably a full 53 man roster on game days instead of the current 46, which would get more players pay as well as make coaches happy as they can beef up depth at positions or ST.

Unpopular opinion: I don't think we really need more football. If your a Dolphins/Bengals/etc, do you need to feel more pain going 0-17.

I agree; 16 games are fine.  I don't like increasing the amount of games because it affects records , stats, etc.

0-16 isn’t painful.    What’s painful is another 6-10 season that means nothing.  0-16 at least offers something for the future.

Okay, if they are trying to get it to full 53 roster, then I could see them giving that as a concession. Though, I'm surprised the owners would agree to swap an extra preseason to regular without something. Then again, it is a another game that matters, so I guess from that perspective, it would be good.

Honestly, I'd be fine with 17 if only they bump up the rosters and make it 53. Not ideal, but it does give more money and as you say, makes coaches happy.

I've always said they should just add more bye weeks. Everybody plays the same amount but they get more in-season rest, there's more football on TV because the season's....say, twenty weeks with 16 games and four byes. Also makes it easier to sell Thursday games, London/Mexico games, etc.

17 games means only half the league gets one extra home game per year, something I don't think the owners would go for, especially if it means one less revenue-generating preseason game.  Pretty much every league has an even-numbered game season for a reason.  Personally,  I'm fine with the 16 game season but expanding the rosters is a really good idea.

Good news Bengals fan!  You won't have to worry about 6-10 this season!

Atlanta is imploding and Devonta Freeman tried to fight Aaron Donald who basically Force pushed him away.

Also, pretty much no defense is being played at Lambeau today.

even when they suck, it still feels good to win these bloodbath rivalry games. Beating a guy that lost games for some pretty talented Bills teams, makes it that much sweeter.

The Colts seem to be just fine without Luck.  Probably the third best team in the AFC behind NE and KC.

Jimmy G might be SF's Achilles heel; he's league average at best.

Bears need to draft a QB next year. Trubisky is a bum. Can't even hit open WRs.

All these offensive skill position players Pace has traded up  in the draft to acquire are bums. Trubisky, Anthony Miller, Adam Shaheen. Montgomery is just a Jordan Howard who fights harder for yards. Cohen they can't figure out how to use. Chicago Bums.

It's even worse considering they traded up for Trubisky and took him ahead of Mahomes and Watson.

I would argue that the Colts may be better than KC...

Bears have 85 yards of offense on 36 plays for the game

I don't get why Darnold the Jets were so cocky in the week leading up to this game. JFC. You win literally one game against a fair to middling team and think you can take out The Pats!? Talk about hubris, I guess.

No one around here has any idea, and we're watching the games. Our defense is randomly competent and Payton is remembering things like "running game" even when Kamara got injured.

It’s essentially a third round pick and Patriots always have capital.    Also, you also picked up a better backup QB with this trade as well.

I also read that Sanu is under contract through next year as well so they get basically 1 & 1/2 seasons out of him for a 2nd Round pick. Not bad for a guy who's been a veteran for a long time, with a GM that Belichick knows personally, and could probably fit in quicker than a rookie.

Josh Gordon was put on IR with a minor injury and the Pats are going to waive him once he's healthy.
