2019 NFL Week 9: Ryan Finley Is Your New Cincy QB
« on: October 29, 2019, 06:00:14 AM »
Dalton has been benched and Finley is officially starting Week 10 since the Bengals are on bye. Also Miami acquired an ex-Pat in Aqib Talib and a 5th Rounder from the Rams for a future pick. Xavien Howard was placed on IR.

Kenyan Drake is expected to have a decent load on Thursday when Arizona takes on SF thanks to injuries to Chase Edmonds and David Johnson.

Patriots are replacing Mike Nugent with Nick Folk at kicker. Folk's made 70% from 40-49 and 59% from 50+ for his career so we'll see what he has left.

Is it just me, or is Dwayne Haskins feeling like he is going to be a bust. The skins seem terrified to use him. 4 picks in the 2 games he has seen action. Keenum is terrible. We're at week 9, if he doesn't have some idea what is going on with the offense by now than he really doesn't have a lot of hope.

I don't understand that move...

Patriots been doing too well and Bill was itching to drop the hatchet on someone.

I also have a bad feeling on Haskins. 'Skins could easily draft his replacement next year and shop Dwayne.

I feel like Haskins was a pure Snyder QB selection over the protests of Gruden as HC and whomever gets hired as the new HC will be forced to start/stay with Haskins too. I have a feeling Washington ends up hiring somebody like a Lovie Smith or a guy who's been an assistant for 15-20 years and thinks this may be his only chance at a legitimate HC gig.

He’s gonna swing for the fences and then when he misses wildly, he’s calling Marvin Lewis.  That’s the Daniel Synder playbook.

Maybe the Giants weren't so stupid to not draft him after all.

Arizona gave San Fran a good run; they're definitely gonna be the trendy sleeper pick next year.

I don't understand why the Lions would line up under center on that last play.

Freddie Kitchens might be the worst coach in the NFL.  And this is a league with Adam Gase in it!

Basically all the flaws were exposed: bad o-line, Brady being incredibly (and uncharacteristically) careless on some of his passes, having the corpse of Ben Watson as your main TE threat (Gronk retires and you had ZERO backup plan?), bad red zone offense, no real great run game, an over aggressive defense who can be beaten with good line and TE play.  Jackson is gonna be something if he can stay healthy.

They play at least three more games against similar QBs so they need to get shit together quick.  I think its easy to say SF is the best team in the league right now.

If more proof of Matt Nagy's idiocy needed to be displayed, we have Week 9's example. 2nd and goal at the 1.5 yard line. Single back in the backfield, 5'6 Cohen. Think they will do something "off-the-wall"? No THAT'S what the defense would expect. Bears run the ball up the middle with manlet Cohen and have him try leaping the pile. He is caught mid air at the 3 and placed on the ground.
USE THE BIG BACK YOU DRAFTED YOU STUPID FUCK NAGY.
Next play. Montgonery easily hammers it in for a score. Stupid fuck Nagy went on last week about how hard it is to get yards when the D knows you are going to run. Yeah when you use a manlet RB you stupid fuck.

On that same scoring drive everyone was jerking to Trubisky hitting a wide open Taylor Gabriel for a big passing play. Any other QB would have hit Gabriel running for a TD. Instead, Gabriel had to wait for the underthrown ball and then got no yac. Bears hopefully lose the rest of the year.

Patriots were using a ton of no huddle and moving the ball very effectively through the air on Baltimore. Sanu, Edelman, and Watson were all making solid plays throughout the game. It's just that the typical plays where Brady usually could go deep, Baltimore blanketed them (the flea flicker play and several of their PA pass attempts). They started out with some decent runs but fell behind too early, too fast to really sustain any type of a run game. The OL was, for the most part, actually giving Brady some time to survey the field but the Edelman fumble returned for a TD was the real clincher for Baltimore's victory. Baltimore just executed the perfect game plan: Run the ball, convert on 3rd Downs offensively & defensively, control the clock, and keep Brady's ass on the bench.

Lamar Jackson is a freak. He was pulling off shit that prime Mike Vick in 2003-2004 was pulling off and the Patriots couldn't consistently stop him. They were getting killed on 3rd Downs especially, struggled to get off the field there, and that 4th & 4 conversion to Snead was particularly deadly. They actually contained Lamar pretty well (16 carries for 61 yards, 17/23 for 163 yards passing) but again, Baltimore was able to run the ball 41 times and had 37 minutes in TOP.

Key Stats: Baltimore was 5/10 on 3rd Downs and 1/1 on 4th Down. Patriots were 5/13 on 3rd Downs for comparison and also had 7 penalties compared to Baltimore's 4.

Props to Harbaugh and Baltimore for executing their game plan to near perfection. Patriots have a tough run but the good news is Watson's really the closest comparison to Lamar that they'll probably face. Defensively, Patriots are in for some real dogfights so we'll see how the team can hold up.

Jermaine Whitehead got waived by Cleveland after threatening to shoot people on Twitter, then Instagram DMs, and giving out his address & daring people to come by.

Preston Williams is out for the season with a knee injury. He was about the only Miami WR showing he deserved to be on an NFL roster.

Desean Jackson also probably out for the rest of the regular season. He's getting surgery on whatever his core injury was that had him miss most of the season already.

Oh and more Dolphins news, Mark Walton is getting suspended for a drug policy violation. All stems from the slew of off-season shit he had going on while he was on the Bengals.
