Looked at Cawthon's and the team that faced Ricky Steamboat & The Mega Powers was Honky Tonk Man & The Hart Foundation (with Andre The Giant as their cornerman). Damn, I wish WWE taped their Montreal house shows in the '80s after that reading that!

Edit---And it looks like Landy has footage of the heel team's promo.

Dave Hebner was a damn good ref, especially compared to his brother.

Invalid Tweet IDWe look at his work with nostalgia colored glasses now but Gorilla in WWF's heyday could be as senile as JR is now.

More Attitude Era Gorilla, this time with some selective memory about the WWF's origins.

One of my favorite singular crowd reaction shots ever. Jr's commentary is so good too.

Yeah, that fan is one of the most memorable spots of that match to me.  So good.

Here's my review of Hardcore Heaven '95.
Just watched this on the network. Interesting show in that its a primer in what made ECW memorable in that era. Bill Alfonso's best moments. And an incredibly hot crowd. Some unfortunate signage during the Public Enemy/Gangstas match.

Note on Benoit, Guerrero, Malenko, they were on a tour of Japan at the time. ECW didn't have priority on those guys, they had to book around it all.

Watched ECW Super Summer Sizzler Spectacular. Well, most of it. I didn't finish Gilbert/Funk yet. The highlight besides the main event is Funk commentating on a Dick Murdoch match and praising his wrestling ability while simultaneously denigrating his intelligence. A then unknown woman (Angel) gets her top taken off in a bit that got ECW a fair bit of heat. Tammy Fytch (also unnamed) makes an early appearance. Joey Styles makes his debut. An interesting show but not a very good one.

Bix was talking about this clip. It's nuts to think that RAW had been on the air for just over a month and Hogan had been gone for just 10 months yet Hogan in the Manhattan Center just seems so anachronistic and out of place.

As someone who started watching in the New Generation era, the Hogan stuff seemed so retro but there was only 3 or 4 years from the end of the peak of Hogan's run and when I started watching. 8 year olds now can't be like "Damn. WrestleMania 33 in Orlando. What a throwback."

I watched Heat Wave '94. The barbed wire match between the Public Enemy and the Funks was interesting with Terry Funk asking for chairs and dozens flying into the ring (I believe this is before the more famous clip with Funk and Cactus. Someone in the front row was upset and shielding a child. But you really see ECW picking up momentum. The undercards of these shows are sometimes dull but the top matches are becoming must watch.

Wow. This is way more candid and self effacing than I would expect from RVD.
