CXF Fantasy Baseball 2020: Benchwarmer Waivers Week
« on: January 13, 2020, 09:21:17 AM »

Time to fire this up. Couple of things, we have openings. Five to be exact. If you're interested, get a hold of me. I'll be filling these spots in the next two weeks. Another item, normally the consolation winner receives the first pick. Since 909 was the winner of that and he is taking this season off, the first overall pick prize will not be given out for this 2019 season.

If a mod dawg could pin this thread and unpin the 2019 one, I would appreciate it.

Fantasy Baseball League Rules

*Last Modified 12-1-19*

    A. Teams can select a maximum of EIGHT keepers of any position.

    B. Teams can choose to keep less than EIGHT keepers.

    C. All keepers must be turned in by November 30th at midnight Pacific Standard Time. *Time extended to Dec 14th*

    D. If keepers are not submitted by the deadline date, the team is considered open and a replacement manager will be found. Keepers lock on the deadline for all teams. Any remaining players that were listed as not kept after the deadline become free agents for the draft. They are no longer under your team control.

    E. 2020 League Settings:
14 Teams - H2H (shrunk down from 16 in 2019)
Daily - Tomorrow
Free Agent roster moves per week 3
Minimum Innings Pitched: 32.0

Stat Categories:
R, HR, RBI, SB, OBP, SLG
QS, SV, HLD, K, ERA, WHIP

Rosters:
21 Total Active Spots
Hitting: C, 1b, 2b, 3b, SS, OF, OF OF, Utility
Pitching: SP, SP, SP, RP, RP, P, P
Other: BN, BN, BN, BN, BN, NA, NA, DL, DL, DL

    F. If a team keeps less than the maximum number of keepers, eight, they will receive a compensatory round draft pick for every spot below the maximum.

    G. A team will NOT receive a compensatory pick if they trade a keeper after the keeper due date deadline. Even if you trade a keeper after the deadline and drop below the 8 keeper max, you will NOT receive a compensatory round pick. Compensatory picks assigned for being under the 8 keeper maximum are assigned immedately following the keeper deadline. Comp picks for this will not be assigned again later on.

    H. The compensatory round takes place after Round One in the draft. Compensatory picks are slotted based on worst to best end of regular season standings results. If a team has a second compensatory round pick, it is slotted in the same manner after all of the other team's first compensatory round picks arr slotted. Compensatory round picks may be given out at the discretion of the commish under other circumstances.

    I. Injured/Retired/Unsigned/Suspended keeper exemption. If a manager decides not to keep a player after the keeper deadline takes effect they can cut said player. However, they can not add any other player from their roster as a replacement. Instead, they will be awarded a compensatory pick at the end of the compensatory round. If a manager decides to cut a player during the draft, they will be awarded a pick at the end of the draft, better than nothing. If a player is cut during the draft, that player is ineligible to be drafted by any other team. The player is essentially on waivers and can be added after the draft through waivers. A player can not be cut if he is not seriously injured, retired, unsigned, or suspended. A significant injury is classified as something to cause a player to miss at least half the season. Example, broken leg/arm, acl tear, tommy john surgery.

    J. The draft. The draft is ten rounds, serpentine, worst regular season record to best for slotting. Consolation Winner receives the first pick in the draft. This is an extra pick. If the consolation winner leaves the league, than the prize is vacated for that season. The remainder of a team's roster is filled by post draft waivers. Those post draft waivers are slotted worst end of regular season record to best. Teams incurring time limit delays 2 or more during the draft lose their spot and go to the end of the line. After the initial post-draft waiver period passes, the waivers are reset to the initial ordering for the regular season. There is no benefit to not use your waiver claim spot after the draft. If you do not fill your roster at all prior to the waivers being reset, your season number will be slotted at the end of the line.

Draft picks can be traded at any point during the season, off-season, and during the draft. Trade must be posted in the league thread on this forum and both teams confirming it. If you make a trade involving picks and after the season a team leaves, the traded picks are still in effect.

    K. After the Fantasy Championship matchup has ended, the in-season trade deadline period will be lifted. Trading can again commence. Managers must post in the Fantasy Baseball thread any trade and both managers involved in the trade must confirm the trade is true before it is validiated.

    L. During the draft, a manager has 12 hours to complete a draft pick. The time starts immediately following the previous selection. If a manager selects an already drafted player, the clock immediately starts for the next manager. They are allowed to skip the team making the invalid pick. This is not considered a delay for the manager making the invalid pick, they can just make a correct pick when they next get on. After a team's 2nd time limit delay their time is dropped to 8 hours. After their 3rd delay, their time is dropped to 6 hours the remainder of the draft.

    M. If you draft a player without stats for the prior regular season during the draft that is a Rookie BEFORE the Yahoo! player pool is posted, and he is not in the player pool by the END of the draft, you lose that player as a draft pick and any rights to that player AND will be forced to select someone from the remaining undrafted players ONCE the draft is completed. This is a pretty uncommon situation anymore, but could still happen.

    N. New managers inherit all facets of their team when taking over a team, players, draft pick slot, draft pick trades.

    O. Team Abandonment.
If a team is left abandoned or neglected during the season. The manager is subject to be replaced. Poor performance is not considered neglect. Leaving an injured player in a starting lineup in a league that has daily roster moves for 3 or more weeks is. If your team falls in to general starting lineup neglect, expect to get a message suggesting to make some roster moves. If no moves are made within a week, don't be shocked if you get replaced as the team's manager. This rule is designed to prevent the teams that are left for dead mid-season and their manager never returning.

    P. League Year.
The new league year begins immediately following the keeper due date deadline. For this season, the new league year begins on December 15th, 2019.

    Q. These rules are subject to review and revision after the season is over and prior to the start of drafting at the discretion of the league and the commissioner.

BY THE WAY, If you have kept any player you feel has inflated stats because of the Astros/Alex Cora sign stealing scandal, you have a two week grace period to replace them with someone off your end of season roster. After Jan 30th, if you decide to dump them, we will follow Rule J in the league rules. You will just be awarded a Compensatory Pick. So now is your chance if you want them gone.

I don't know who has who without looking, but this is your opportunity if you want to uninvest in someone you think might have had inflated statistics.

Irony is that I traded away the three I had, and I suddenly feel much better about doing so.

I have Springer, but my keeper options after him are kind of marginal since I traded some guys away before the deadline. I'm probably just gonna be stuck with whatever happens happens.

Springer out of all of them, I think is not going to be hurt to hard. It'll be a dip, but nothing too hard.

Alright, glad to have you on board Squint! That team is still available and it's yours. Feel free to post who you would like to keep off your team. You can keep up to 8 keepers. If you keep less than 8, you will receive a compensatory pick in the compensatory round for each unused keeper slot.

Just a FYI, we still have 3 openings we're trying to fill. If by Friday we still have more than 1 opening, then I'll push the start of the draft back a week. If we just have 1 opening at that time, I'll just auto-draft that team until a manager is found.

This is what we're going to do. Those 3 teams that are empty are getting merged into 1 team. Keepers will get selected from the 3 rosters and I'll find someone to take that team over. Those 3 teams are so god awful that it'll be a chore just finding 8 keepers out of those 60+ players.

If at the end of the year we can finally go a season without having to find a million new managers, we'll expand back out to 16 teams.

Like I said toward the end of last season, we won't be having teams left abandoned anymore. If we have to, in-season replacement managers will come in. That was just too frustrating last year.

The Free Agent player pool on yahoo has officially been updated to reflect who is available for the draft.

Draft officially starts Monday once the first pick is made. Once the first pick is made 12 hour per pick time limits go in to effect. Once you've made your pick, be curteous and send the person after you a pm letting them know they are on the clock. There are quick links to send each manager a message in the first post.

The player pool on yahoo will get updated every day or two depending on the number of draft picks in the time span. So be sure to check the first post and the thread to know who has been selected as it will be more current than the yahoo player pool.

If you hit the 12 hour time limit, the next manager up can automatically skip you. If you make an invalid pick, (selecting an already drafted player), the next manager is automatically on the clock and the draft goes on. You can just jump back in whenever and make a valid draft pick.

Time limit delays:
Everyone gets 2 delays, on the 3rd delay your time gets cut to 8 hours for the remainder of the draft, on the 4th its cut to 6 hours for the remainder of the draft. Invalid picks do not count as a time limit delay. Having back to back picks and hitting a 12 hour time limit only counts as 1 delay.

Benchwarmer Waivers:
The order for this will be the inverse of the 2019 standings. Multiple draft time limit delay people were moved to the end of the line based on number of delays they accumulated

FYI, the first pick always gets 24 hours to make a selection. If Flik doesn't pick by midnight EST than he gets skipped.

I'm sorry, I had been badly sick for the last two weeks and it got really bad over the weekend. Though seems like the worst of it is over and I'm feeling better today finally.

As for my pick - SP Sonny Gray

Baseball season happens the same time every year bro. You literally posted like a week ago in last year's thread.

Did you send an email about it? Or maybe I missed a post in the old thread? I'm trying to figure out the disconnect

It's pinned at the top of the folder. The old one was immediately unpinned. I know somewhere in the old thread it stated something to the extent of "when the new thread is made in early January and we begin drafting mid-February". The date on the first post of the old thread is January. If the thread didnt get noticed, the yahoo league was renewed a week ago. That in itself generates an email. I'm not sure why emails would need to be sent out stating there is a new thread for the new season. Its the same time every year. New thread in early January, draft sometime after pitchers and catchers report  mid-February.

I got the email about the league renewal. Remember, I was new last year, so this is my first year as a continued member. Guess I’m just retarded.

Easiest way to catch up is to follow the pinned threads at the top of the Sports Folder. We try hard to immediately pin any new league threads when they're created so it's easy to go, "Oh, the new league is starting up soon."

Anyway, I'm banking on this guy being a new Khris Davis and reveling in a few 40+ HR, 100+ RBI seasons after last year's breakout.

Edit: Just noticed like half of the league rules have vanished from the first post. I'm going to readd them except this time I'm moving them to the 2nd post so that maybe they won't disappear.

Took me awhile to figure out what “pinned” meant and what “folder” you were talking about. As you can tell I am an unplugged individual who only uses technology for fantasy baseball. I don’t have a cell phone, comp, or any other “smart” device.
