NYC/Northern NJ is maybe the top market for wrestling in the country (and just #1 market for media in the country period), if not #1 then definitely in Top 2 with Chicago. I'm mildly surprised it didn't sell out right away.

I doubt Memphis has sold out an arena level wrestling show since at least, The Attitude Era. And didn't Cleveland have a really poorly attended WWE PPV a few years back? Maybe the Fastlane with Roman Reigns Vs Daniel Bryan?

Those are also areas hit hard by economic declines.

Fastlane has been in Cleveland twice. The show in 2016 (headlined by Reigns-Ambrose-Lesnar in a triple threat) did pretty well with 14,446. Last year’s show (“Last match for The Shield...until we have another last match for The Shield next month!”) tanked pretty bad. I don’t think the attendance was even announced.

I’ll say this for AEW ticket sales here: The pricing structure is strange. There are 100 level seats that are $25 and one section over, they jump to $78. Of course it makes sense that the closer you get to the middle of the arena across from the hard cam, ticket prices will climb, but that’s too steep a jump between adjacent sections.

I think in general they should be pricing these shows lower, especially in mid-size and smaller markets, just to get more people in the building. I love AEW and bought tix the day they went on sale, but I’m in the minority. They don’t have enough of a base established to be selling tix that are more expensive than Raw for comparable seats.

WWE has also done a great job of killing good wrestling markets over the last 18 years.

More good news for them in terms of tickets is they've already sold over 8K for Atlanta.  Originally they had the entire top bowl not open, but they've now opened up 3 sections.  It's a huge arena (probably the biggest for them since DC), so my guess is with the cage match and local promotion they'll be over 10K for that show.

Not sure what WWE usually does in Atlanta for Raw or Smackdown, but I doubt it's much more than 10K.

I saw Manders a few months ago. He has an advantage in that he's actually built like a pro wrestler.

Manders is so great. He's got a great look, he can go in the ring, and has charisma. He's going to be one of those guys that blows up big in 2020. He had a great second half of 2019.
