Harrison Barnes vowed not to shave or cut his hair until the Kings hit .500 or the season ends.  Gonna be  along and hairy rest of season.  He had started this vow in December.

With Devin Booker and Bradley Beal having really high numbers and not making the All-Star team this year,  Beal officially enters All-Star break with the highest PPG average for someone not on the All-Star team at 29.1.

Michael Wilbon stinks but Rachel, TMac, and Scottie are honest here.

GarPax used to barely get criticized, so I'm glad they are finally getting criticism on a national level. And I'm hoping this leads to Reinsdorf doing something, even moving GarPax to different bullshit roles while other people run the team.

Fred got fired shortly after that and was replaced by someone much worse. Screaming A needs to use his powers for good on Boylen and GarPax.

I'll go ahead and offer up my choices for All-NBA thus far as well.

1st Team:
F: Giannis Antetokounmpo
F: LeBron James
C: Nikola Jokic
G: Luka Doncic
G: Damian Lillard

Harden will end up first team because most of the media is just going to look at his scoring average and forget how wildly inconsistent he's been all season, but the fact is Doncic and Lillard have simply done more with less.

2nd Team:
F: Kawhi Leonard
F: Anthony Davis
C: Rudy Gobert
G: James Harden
G: Ben Simmons

Trae Young's numbers are insane, but the Hawks are still a bottom 3 team in the league and I couldn't justify putting him over Simmons here.

3rd Team:
F: Jimmy Butler
F: Pascal Siakam
C: Hassan Whiteside
G: Trae Young
G: Chris Paul

The toughest decision here was Chris Paul or Bradley Beal.  Beal is putting up monster numbers, has less talent around him and yet still has the Wiz right outside the playoffs in the East.  On the other hand, the Wiz are right outside the playoffs in the East.  Chris Paul was basically considered damaged goods after his tenure with the Rockets, but has managed to lead the Thunder solidly into the playoff picture, which I don't think anyone expected.  The second forward spot was between Pascal, Bam and Sabonis.  I really wanted to put Sabonis here, but in the end I realized it would mostly just be a homer pick.  But he has evolved in a big way this season, and as a result the Pacers didn't really miss a beat without Vic.  Whiteside was the most eye-popping name when looking at AA's list, and then when I looked at the list of centers in the league...I can't really argue the choice.  Embiid has missed a lot of games, and Whiteside's production is basically identical to Gobert's.  I went the other way with the two because Gobert has been the identity of a team near the top of the West, and Whiteside has just been kind of a dude next to Lillard.

Connaughton got screwed in the Slam Dunk since they let Wade be a judge and rate in favor of the Heat.

The judges are probably the worst part of the dunk contest now.  They gave Dwight a near perfect score for a simple dunk because he put Kobe’s number on his shirt.  It didn’t really feel like a Kobe tribute to me, just using his number.

Reggie Miller callee Wade out when he tipped the favor of the Heat win in the finals too.  Aaron Gordon screwed again.

That dunk contest was crazy. The judges ruined it at the end but Jones and Gordon were incredible. Gordon was completely robbed.

The judges did totally ruin what was a great dunk contest, but after watching it again today I do think Jones had the best performance overall.  I also heard that they were trying to make it a tie again, but I guess somebody gave a 9 that was supposed to give a 10 which is why Gordon ended up short.  But they also gave him two 50s on dunks that he missed on the first attempt, and a 50 on a dunk that Jones had already done way more impressively.  So honestly it shouldn't have even gotten to that last dunk

The problem with the first attempt arguments is Connaughton was the ONLY one to hit on the first attempt in the first dunk.  I feel that dunk had more difficulty than Jones’ first and Wade underscoring him got Jones into the second round.  Jones had a good performance but it was tainted by Wade fixing the scores for him twice.

In post interviews Jones starts saying how Gordon should’ve been marked down for grazing Tacko.  I don’t expect him to say he didn’t deserve it but Gordon still cleared seven feet regardless.

And the story with the ties was after they all agreed, Wade changed the score.  Watch the reactions at the end, after Gordon’s score goes up all of them look at Wade who is smirking.

John Paxson is said to be in charge of the search for a GM so basically nothing will change since he is the biggest problem. He's too much of a control freak and will butt heads with the new GM and Coach. I want to be excited, but he's got to go.

I will admit I was wrong about the new format.  I didn’t like what I read about it but caught the second half and the execution was fine and given it was the most competitive game in a while, guess it worked out.

In other changes around the league, it sounds the Cavs are planning another coaching change - just unsure if they are pulling the trigger now or end of season.

Pistons waived Reggie Jackson.  The early rumor for next team is Clippers.  I’ve never been a big fan of Jackson so it may be my own bias in saying I don’t think that’s a good move for the Clippers.

I don't like it either... just a signing to keep him away from the Lakers but the last thing the Clippers needed was another undersized guard who ranks as one of the worst defenders during the past 5 seasons.

Warriors picking up the other 2016 Suns lottery pick they didn’t have and getting Dragan Bender.  They made Chriss the most relevant he’s been in his NBA career.

Also, Devin Booker listed his Arizona home for sale during his first All-Star weekend.  Just a matter of time.

Kyrie shutting it down for the season due to his shoulder, possibly going to have "a procedure"

I feel bad for Nets fans. The way this season has gone re: Kyrie shouldn't be a surprise to anyone.  I still believe KD can come back at close to 100% until he doesn't, but why would anyone have any faith in Kyrie at this point?  The Nets will have a small window to hope to get these two on the same page, healthy and playing their best for a couple years

John Beilein is out in Cleveland and J.B.Bickerstaff has been promoted to head coach
I'm still baffled as to why Beilein left a top tier college program for a bummy franchise like the Cavs and I'm baffled as to why the Cavs gave the keys to a perfectly fine but not transcendent college basketball lifer. GD Cleveland Sports.

Looking at Wikipedia, it says Beilein was third first year head coach to coach a season opener and not finish the season. Other two were Randy Ayers with the '03-'04 76ers and Jerry Tarkanian with the '92-'93 San Antonio Spurs. WTH? I never knew Tark The Shark had a brief run in the pros!

It feels like this is the gazillionth team that JB Bickerstaff has been interim head coach for but Wikipedia tells me it's just #3.

They still have to pay him the rest of the year too because he has something in his contract about that. He's also going to keep using the Lakers facilities for rehab. He'll be back with the Lakers next year.
