I was a little surprised to read that Sharapova could face a 1-2 year ban from tennis (max of 4!). That's one hell of a smackdown for a first failed drug test.

Apparently they earned her 5 times to stop and she didn't.

I know Federer's age is a factor, but it's still disappointing that he hasn't won a major since Wimbledon 2012 (he has knocked on the door a handful of times). Before that, it was the 2010 Aussie Open so we're basically talking about six years with one major title.

You're right though, for him to even be relevant after 29 is a testament to his GOATness.

For the record, Djokovic and Murray are 29, and the Djoker doesn't seem to be slowing down anytime soon. Nadal is 30, but he just seems too beat up to be a major factor going forward (last major win was the French in 2014).

I'd probably say Serena is the greatest tennis player. Of either male or females.

If Serena stays in shape and her body holds up I see no reason she could not win majors for the next 2-4 years, maybe not at her current level, but her best is so much better than anybody else's in the women's game.

Best tennis player ever really will get the debate hopping. I wouldn't rule it out, but the old heads have enough of a hard time giving Fed/Nadal/Djoker historical context because of technology differences, lord knows how that rhetoric goes once we add in the gender differences.

I think the most dominant tennis I've seen on the men's side was Federer between 2006-2008. It's hard to pinpoint Serena's because the second act of her career had been almost as dominant as the first half.

I was going to post about this the other day, but I think I probably passed out...

I just don't think Federer can win 7 matches in two weeks anymore, especially if he has to play multiple 5 set matches the second week (I will not say fortnight!)

I do want him to win one more, but I just don't think it will happen. I feel like after he had to use so much beating Cilic, he was ripe for Raonic or Murray to take him out.

Not just that, but she's also playing, and winning, in doubles.

That's actually why I make that claim is because she does well both as a singles competitor and a doubles.

An all-Williams final, Federer/Nadal, and even the Bryan Brothers are back! In other news, it's 2009.

Fed/Rafa had another five-set classic (although the ending was a bit anti-climatic). I thought Federer was gonna blow it, but I'm glad he got #18.

Federer has won 3 more majors since I said that. Nailed that prediction...

Here's the thing about Fed v. Nadal, and I am a huge Fed fan, but Nadal has a 23-15 H2H record including 9-3 in majors. I feel like Fed hitting 20 Majors will probably get people to end arguments on that debate, but I think the fact that he has the career GS plus multiple titles at 3 of the 4 Majors I think you can still make an argument for Rafa.

My family and I were falling out laughing from that meltdown. As great as Serena is, she's still as much of a headcase as anyone. Osaka was taking that match anyways.

I tuned in just n time to see the second half of the third set, and it had some great action. I wish I was in time to see the comeback in set 2.
