This makes the story of me pretending to be his close personal friend to pick up chicks in Yahoo Chatrooms when I was 11 all the more hilarious. I actually got some numbers out of that. I wish I had that luck now.

Good for him to finally be able to come out.  This isn't shocking like Rock Hudson or anything.

The ones who have been coming out of the closet lately haven't really been that much of a surprise.

I think he was the last person on earth to realize that he was gay.

damn the only thread dedicated to one of the greatest singers of his generation is filled with homophobia and no mention of his music SMFH

60 million records sold World Wide.

at least the brody respects.

Ricky Martin had a lot of great hits that stand the test of time. I was revisiting this stuff after the Spice Girls thread made me re-listen to that. Stuff like La Copa De La Vida and Livin La Vida Loca still hold up, but other bangers you probably never heard like La Bomba and Lola, Lola are worth your time.

Don't be afraid to say you like his music, ITT

"Livin La Vida Loca" is a great song that combines a ska rhythm, surf guitar and Latin horns and percussion into one irresistible ham jam. You wouldn't think it would work, but that's the greatness of Desmond Child. My favorite part is when the bassist starts playing eighth notes leading up to the chorus, giving the track a certain urgency befitting its lyrics describing a dangerous yet alluring woman. I also liked his 1999 Grammy performance of "The Cup of Life," but I don't think his other singles were particularly good, especially not the Xtina duet.

I don't know that his voice was ever that great to begin with, but bah gawd this is bad.

His album Vuelve is worth seeking out, especially in comparison to his '99 mainstream known release. His 2nd album also deserves some love too.

"Marcia Baila" is a lot of fun and hard not to want to dance to.

"Jezabel" doesn't quite hit the heights of his known hits but damn if it shouldn't have been a hit tbh.
