I have a video from the late 90s (probably 98) of a tiny (ie: backyard) promotion that a lot of my friends wrestlied for that has Chris Masters wrestling in an HBK gimmick...I can't think of the name he used but trust me, it was hilariously bad. The match he "wrestled" in somehow ended up in a ditch. He was in his late teens and skinny with long greasy hair and a greasier face. I'll try to find it and post pics at some point. I always wished he would have gone on to mega stardom so I could have sold that tape to someone.

I know Eric Young isn't liked on this board, but back in '03 he and then TNA regular jobber, Derek Wylde in a low rent indy fed back here in Ontario. This is just a highlights package between these two

Supreme Pro Wrestling (based out of Sacramento) had their 11 year anniversary show last night and their was a film crew there who is going to try and make a reality/documentary show out of Supreme Pro Wrestling. The production company made a couple of teaser trailers to help promote everything and here are the trailers they've made so far.

(I couldn't get the 2nd video to come up becaues it's on facebook, but if you click the link, you should be able to see it.)

I was driving someone to the airport today and saw some banner taped to a sign on a plaza saying "MEET WWE LEGEND VAL VENIS".  Needless to say, I drove back past on the way home.  I guess some local indy fed is selling tickets this weekend and to promote the show they are doing an autograph session with Venis and Derick Neikirk, who was in DSW forever under WWE developmental contract until he got fired for wellness policy.  Wondering if I should go and ask Val for some Melina/Knox details.

Yeah. Tonight it's Jerry Lawler vs one of the Highlanders. One night only, but still!

Lawler has said he plans to piledrive him so bad he'll have to unzip his pants to brush his teeth tommorrow. Can't wait.

And he no-showed due to bad weather. Fuck's sake.

But that's the way I like it baby

No pictures but I just came back from a Firestorm Pro Wrestling show. Perfectly acceptable indy show before the main event of Patrick Hayes defending the title against John McChesney & Low Ki in a Triple Threat.

Low Ki had clunky exchanges with both McChesney and Hayes during the match. I can only assume Ki was getting pissed so he kicked Hayes FLUSH in the mouth. Nasty kick. Hayes was knocked completely loopy and really started botching spots one after another. The owner of the promotion was behind me begging for them to go home. Finally, the match was put out of its misery with Hayes getting the win. Hard to tell if Hayes was being a pussy because he didn't push through like a "pro" or if he was being a tough motherfucker for pushing through and doing his best after having his dental structure compromised. I'll lean towards the latter.

But yeah, all in all a fun show for the fans at least. Will probably go back in June for Colt Cabana.

Here's the only video I could find of the event . . .

Went to the 1st Round of the AIW Todd Pettingill Invitational last night. Sadly, our own Matt.com lost his opening round match with Shima via submission in the main event . . . five and a half hours in . . . the event that is, not the match.

On the bright side, my $1 raffle ticket won an autographed Matt.com action figure.

And if Sugar Dunkerton vs Facade surfaces on YouTube, check it out.

The Dangerous DBA

Pretty much a New Jack Clone. Malcolm Monroe Sr. was running Insane Championship Wrestling in the Detroit area. It was a fun promotion. Sexton Hardcastle, Christian Cage, Rhino Richards, and Joe E. Legend made up Canadian Thug Life. Pysho Rik Matrix and Tex Monroe had insane brawls...but the main purpose of the promotion was for Malcolm Sr. to get his son (DBA) Malcolm Jr. over. The last couple years the promotion ran, that was the main goal.

ICW kinda goes away (and comes back later as IWF), but in that time DBA started his own promotion. XICW (very original). And while I'll admit, they've put on very fun cards in the decade or so they've been around. Hurricane, Dreamer, Mahoney, Rhino, big names have been through there. But the purpose is still to get DBA over. He headlines every show, either defending, winning, or challenging for the promotion's title.

Once a year Supreme Pro Wrestling (based out of Sacramento, California) has an event called the Supreme 7 Series, a best of 7 matches series, where the SPW Champion must face the winner of a match called the Supreme Hell Challenge. This year Cjay Kurz won the Supreme Hell Challenge and instead of facing his tag partner SPW Champion Bobby Hart, Cjay challenged SPW Extreme Champion Mike Hayashi to put up his Extreme Title in the Supreme 7 Series. As the series goes, the matches get more extreme.

This past weekend, Match 4 just took place and what I'd like to do is show you guys their matches so far. I'm not going to post them all tonight, but maybe once a week or so.

The stipulation for Match 1 was drawn randomly by a fan and the fan drew a "Throw in a towel match" SPW Extreme Champion Mike Hayashi (Blue and Black tights) has Steve Stamp in his corner and Cjay Kurz (Gray tights) has Samurai in his corner.

There's a poll on NWA on Fire's website asking which wrestler we'd like to see; Tito Santana, The Bushwhackers (So far, maybe a bit out of their price range but reasonable), Cactus Jack (um...), Steve Austin (uh, seriously?) and Shawn Michaels.

I mean it's really hilarious to think there might be some mark out there thinking that Stone Cold might show up to the Mexico, Maine recreation center to stunner D.C. Dillinger.

I honestly doubt NWA on Fire can afford either of those two. Though they did bring in Bob Backlund for a boxing match (!?) against a local celebrity about two years ago and had Tony Atlas, Koko B. Ware and Nunzio do shows for them around that same time.

This is Match 2 of the Supreme 7 Series between Supreme Pro Wrestling Extreme Champion Mike Hayashi (Long tights) vs Cjay Kurz (Orange underwear). The match is a "King of the Arena" match where you have to keep your oppoent out of the building until the count of 10.

Sidenote: The camera is a bit shakey due to having to have someone actually record the match instead of using a camera stand.

He's been booked in a 3-way "Hardcore as Hell" match at the JT Lightning Memorial Show in Cleveland on 9/25. I plan on being there though I'll probably wander in 1/2-way through the show because of the Browns game.
