As a spin-off to the Yokozuna thread and the ongoing debate about the merits of big men in the WWF of the 90s, you have to include one Nelson Frazier Jr. in the discussion. Mabel never really had the charisma to carry his end of a feud and pretty much just coasted on his size, and it does say something that a 6' 6"+ 500-pounder barely broke midcard status after a disastrous main event push.

Basically, no one is ever going to say their favorite wrestler is Viscera. So the question is: what went wrong?

Yoko had Fuji, Cornette, eventually Owen to work with/play off of.

Once Mabel left Men on a Mission he was pretty much on his own & like Yoko, doesn't have anything to get himself over other than being large.

He was green as hell in the mid 90's and only started to get decent at some point in the 00's when they finally realized he could only be booked squashing jobbers on Heat/Velocity or for comedy where he would dry hump people and try to fuck the ring announcer.

I don't remember a single match of his from his late 90's Ministry of Darkness period, did he even wrestle much or just show up and look big?  I vaguely remember him tagging with Mideon a few times maybe.

His Big Daddy V run was ok because he'd at least become competent at the short match by that point, but nothing to write home about and nothing special.  I've never seen anything of his from Japan.

Basically he's just a gigantic fat guy who after 10 years in the business finally became adequate at being a wrestler.

I think I remember M.O.M. having a good match with Hall and Savio Vega at the second (and best) In Your House.

This is my only memory of enjoying a Mabel match.

My jaw dropped the first time I saw him do that rolling kick spot on Sunday Night Heat. It was like he told gravity to go fuck itself. He was acceptable from a wrestling standpoint, but was more of a visual spectacle than anything.

Men on a Mission also had a good match with Yoko & Owen on a Raw episode in 1995.

The crowd always loved to see Mabel vs. Yoko for some reason.  They went crazy for it at In Your House 4, on that Raw episode, and at the 1996 Rumble.

As it's been said, I think Big Vis suffered from the lack of someone to play off of, or doing his talking for him. Ideally he was best suited for the tag team ranks, letting his partner carry most of the workload, get tagged in, do his spots and lead to the finish to cover up his inability to work longer matches.

Other than this he could have been saddled with a bodyguard role for an arrogant heel, again just coming in to do his weight spots on a beatdown, or on the outside.

Didn't he legit win the tag belts when he proved to fat to get off when pinning a Qubecer?

The Big Daddy V run was so fun on ECW that I was actually disappointed they used what heat they finally built up for him just to put over Taker.

yeah I liked the ECW run where he was squashing guys with Striker as his manager. That was probably my favorite run for him

Well the story I've heard is that Pierre was dazed or something when he got splashed and couldn't get out, so MOM got a two day title reign out of the deal.  You wouldn't think the WWF could recognize it under those conditions, but they did on Superstars the week after it happened.

I remember not really giving two shits about Mabel until that Survivor Series match where he comes out behind Bam Bam and Vince is all, "Bam Bam is huge but look at the size of MABEL!" in that old school McMahon mark voice.

My buddy and I used to admire how he'd fake a jump kick by sticking one foot up in the air and then moving his other foot vaguely towards it.

Big Daddy V era is one of the only set of man boobs to really scare me. ;D
