I'm shocked we don't have one.

Anyways, I mentioned in CTDWAT that Maine recently got the much beloved Sun Drop. I enjoyed it on my first try but I thought you Southerners were overrating it but having drank most of the two liter I bought now...it really may be the best citrus soda out there, up there with Mt. Dew Throwback at least. Combines all of the best aspects of Sprite and regular Mountain Dew.

Also, a question for the New Yorkers of TRTSM (or anybody whose area gets Dr. Brown sodas)...

What the hell is the appeal of this?

I don't know what the hell that is.

I don't drink that much soda anymore. It's bad for you. But when I do, I enjoy Mountain Dew.

Also grape soda and orange soda. And red soda.

A drop from flaming ball of gas sounds like the most refreshing thing ever. Normally I just beat the heat with Lava-Ade or Magma Mountain Kool-Aid.

I've had celery soda, and it's not that bad. I don't like Dr Brown's though, because it has HFCS in it.

I've never heard of it in America.

Longtime TSM fans will note that foleyfanforever88 once accused me of creating too many soda threads at TOTSM, too! He was in the wrong about that then! It was a thread about famous knockoffs...it's not my fault soda companies rip each other off so often! And that thread he listed here was specifically about Mountain Dew!

I've had the Cel-Ray soda too and it's exactly what it sounds like. Not bad but not something I see the appeal in. Sort of like actual celery.

I can only find it in twelve packs around here. I bought one on the last weekend of winter break in January, didn't finish it and forgot about it and came home for spring break to find two or three still left.

Score one for my parents being healthy and not drinking much soda!

Also, Dew is now doing a Diet Voltage (raspberry/citrus) vs Diet Supernova (strawberry/melon) voting contest.  Supernova should have won the original contest to begin with, so hopefully justice prevails here.

I don't know why both Coke & Pepsi pulled out of the flavored cola market at the same time, seems like such a dumbass thing to do. I mean if your competitor is suddenly not offering something you offer, doesn't it make sense to keep offering it?

Thankfully Vanilla Coke's back but Pepsi Vanilla remains lost to time.

Yup, tell me about it. Thankfully, I just found some at my local Freddy's (which is a Kroger-owned store) and bought a 2-liter right away.

It's the perfect breakfast/hangover soda. Super citrusy, strong orange flavor to it, not excessively sweet. Wish it was sugar instead of HFCS, but it's great.

Freddy's is what we call the store Fred Meyer here in the Northwest and Kroger is the second largest grocery store in the U.S. behind Walmart. They tend to buy out a lot of local chains and leave the names intact for some reason.

Damn, I was hoping it was called Freddy's. I know Kroger. I've heard people talk about Fred Meyer before, which I guess is not to be confused with Meijer.

If you only knew...my best friend's dad owns a chain of (excellent) barbecue restaurants throughout Tennessee and extremely north Alabama, and the original store gets Sun Drop in glass bottles, which uses the original formula (I've never thought about but it obviously has sugar in it). The key difference is there are little tiny slivers of orange floating around in each bottle.

Also, new Sun Drop drinkers, if you can't get the original, we all say it's best out of a twenty ounce plastic bottle. It's such a relief to be able and get one at a gas station if you're hungover. Are you guys all getting Cherry-Lemon Sun Drop, too?

I haven't seen cherry lemon, but I kind of burned out on cherry soda ages ago, so I don't know if I'd even try that. I'm drinking it out of a 2 liter, which can't be all that different than a 20 oz (well, I'm pouring it into a glass with ice, but you get the point).

I find the sugar taste over HFCS is even better with citrus drinks. Mt. Dew Throwback is amazing, and I love that it's permanent now.

I will seek that out when I go to the states on Friday.

As per a synopsis of The Apprentice finale I know there's a retro 7-Up deal too. Reading the article (from January) about the Pitch Black LTO re-release, maybe Pepsi Blue will get a day in the spotlight with an 8 week relaunch. Hell, bring back Crystal Pepsi for 2 months.

While I would like to see Crystal Pepsi come back just so I can find out if I actually like it or not (I was like 8 when it came out and we drank it at school to be 'cool', but I don't remember my opinion on the actual taste) I would murder as many people as it took to bring Pepsi Blue back even if it's just for a few months. I drank the everlovingshit out of that stuff back in 2002 and it's still probably my favorite soda ever.

Took advantage of being in the US and picked up a Pitch Black. It's still good, but I remembered liking it better in Canada years ago... then remembered Mountain Dew is slightly different in the US (it's not caffeinated in Canada).
