Great ep, I give it a C+.

Two Questions: How about that physical release? What's your fuck style?

I was disappointed the physical release was only one podcast rather than the usual four or five. Where was "I Love Films" and "Blue Turtlin'"? Get it together Scotts.

And my fuck style is straight up 1900's wizard wolf.

Okay, so last night I was listening to Season 2 Episode 3 of Short Corner, the one where they're talking about nepotism in the NBA, and Halpern digresses to tell an anecdote about how he was able to get seats to Bulls/Sonics in 96, because he had some kind of hook up, and was clowning on one of the Bulls players (I want to say Haley?) who was designated to be Rodman's "handler."

He then went on a further digression about some friend of his who is an actress, and basically got a 75-episode run on some "hit" sitcom in order to "babysit" the star (or one of the stars) of the show, whom he describes as "a mess." According to him, his friend was cast to do a guest spot, and the star really liked her, so they made her a recurring character on the show, just so that she could be the star's "handler."

My first thought on hearing the star described as a mess was Charlie Sheen but, unless Halpern was deliberately obfuscating about how many episodes, no woman has appeared in around 75 episodes of 2.5 Men (Melanie Lynskey has appeared in less, and Marin Hinkle, Holland Taylor and Conchata Ferrell have all appeared in significantly more; no other actress is even in the ballpark). Anybody have any idea what show he's talking about?

It has this new syndication deal FX has been playing with where they make 10 episodes and if that goes well they immediately make 90 more (thus getting the 100 episodes that helps syndication).  The 'second season' has been pretty much on since Jan '13

Slim, you have a ways to go if you started listening from the beginning but the Pau Gasol episode is one of the best podcasts on any subject ever.

Not a fan of Horatio Sanz being in like 90% of CBB episodes this year.  His characters are almost always terrible.

I have no idea what he was going for there. It felt really last minute. Last week's episode, though, with the real fan donating to Scott's former girlfriend's Indie Go Go (go go!) and picking the guests is going to be hard to top.

So, apparently, Podcastone has pulled the whole Short Corner archive, which would seem to indicate that, whatever led to their podcast being cancelled, there may have been some hard feelings involved. Does anyone know whether there's anywhere where I can still download their last episode? I believe it was dated back from just before the All-Star break.

The thing with You Talkin' U2 to Me is that after the first episode, it completely goes off the rails. I won't even try to recommend it. It's just the most insane thing on Earwolf.

you gotta check out Me 2 I'm Talkin U2 to U too

I now it's not a TV/movie podcast, but I've listened to Taz's podcast the past 2 days. I've never been a big listener of podcasts, but I decided to check his out. It's really fun. His first show was with Edge, he's had RVD, Matt Hardy, Sabu, Gail Kim and others on. He and Mike Tenay have done 3 shows where they have their top 10 current wrestlers, top 10 all time wrestlers and top 10 managers. There was some great stuff on those shows.

I HIGHLY recommend Paul F. Tompkins' new show Spontaneanation.  Basically he has guests on who improvise a scene based on a topic given by a guest he interviews for the first 20 or so minutes.  It's more structured and laid back than Comedy Bang Bang which is actually good because CBB can be really good or really shitty (HORATIO SANZ FUCKING SUCKS) depending on who is on it.

Once again recommending Hardcore History which just released its sixth and final episode on WWI, Blueprint for Armageddon. Great series of episodes which actually eclipses the "Ghosts of the Ostfront" series about the Eastern Front in terms of sheer quality.

This week's We Hate Movies on Space Jam is great.  I think the best part was their theory that Lola Bunny was the result of a tryst between a drunk Bugs and Jessica Rabbit and that Bugs unkowingly spends the movie lusting after his own daughter.

How the hell did I go three years without discovering The Evening Jones? This shit is amazing: it speaks to damned near everything I like about everything! Shit, if Bomani Jones liked wrestling, I wouldn't need any other form of entertainment.

Bo and Tony Kornheiser are the only two people in America that I can listen to talking about football, without wanting to throw my computer out a window.

All the archived Earwolf podcasts older than six months are going behind a paywall in the near future. I understand it and was probably inevitable but still bit of a bummer.

I was dying at the tangent about WWE films doing a remake with Vince as Bernie and Jim Ross as a bumbling hitman.

I'm not going to consider anything I do to be the best of anything but I didn't know where else to put this. I know there are some posters around here that do their own podcasts and while I did do one before it was hard to keep a solid schedule due to the real lives of myself and my co-host at the time, but now I have started a new one (as seen in my sig). A Horrible Premise is a game show about making up fake TV shows and it's been much more fun than I thought it would be. I have a small group of folks that play the contestants, a few of which used to be posters at the old board and others that are comedy writers/stand up acts, and the most recent episode (and hopefully future ones) had a former WWE Creative guy.

My audio editing skills aren't fantastic (mainly due to my current hardware set-up not giving me super great audio to start with) but I feel like the content is good enough. Episodes go as long as they have to/we let them which makes for some being under an hour and some being closer to two. The most recent contains lots of Michael P.S. Hayes for reasons I don't remember. Only five in the can so far but I am hopeful people like listening to it as much as I like making it.

iTunes
Stitcher
Facebook
A Horrible Premise - Episode 48: TEN CORGIS TAPED TOGETHER - an improv comedy game show podcast about creating 'horrible' tv shows.

Opposite Attractions - a comedy design podcast where two idiots design their very own theme parks. SEASON 4 HAS BEGUN.

I click on the link.  I see the most recent show is entitled "The Rape Heard Round The World".  Well, alright, you got my attention.  I click on the show.  It goes into one of those endless musical intros which is the hallmark of an amateurish, badly-edited podcast.  (Complete with a longer drop of audio from Mick Jagger's "Sympathy for the Devil" than you're allowed to use without legal permission.)  When a human finally shows up, it's a guy with the most monotonous voice I've ever heard and bad timing to the cadence of his delivery, whining about Social Justice Warriors and quite sincerely talking about them as if they're an unknown species of animal who need to be psychoanalyzed in order to discover the source of their insanity (and this is clearly not meant to be funny, he means it).  I click the exit button.  Fucking terrible.

I found a couple good historical podcasts: The History of WWII Podcast and History of Rome.  Both have a ton of episodes to go through and they all are 30 minutes or less.

I also resubscribed to The Black List Table Reads now that they do an entire script in one episode.

Bumping this thread because I didn't think this news warranted one of its own, and I couldn't find a more recent relevant thread:

So, I'm listening to the most recent episode of "Jay and Miles X-Plain the X-Men" and, apparently, they are breaking up. I don't even know if it really counts as 'news', per se, since I feel like the writing was on the wall when Jay came out as trans, but I'll be interested in seeing how the quality of the podcast will be affected, since they said that they plan to keep doing it, but also said that Jay plans to move to NYC, while Miles remains in Portland.

I started listening to Dead Pilots Society, which is basically just like the Black List but solely focused on comedy pilots.
