Spoiler: show

I agree it was cool to start with the team together but some backstory on Stark would have been cool because I thought he swore off Iron Man at the end of 3 and had bad ptsd

That.

So, the Nova Corps has the Power Gem.

Vision has the Mind Gem
. Refresh my memory on who has the Reality and Space Gems. Doesn't The Collector have the Reality Gem?

Collector has Reality and he has that because the Space Jem is already in Asgard and they didn't want two together.

Just got back and really enjoyed the movie.
Spoiler: show
I liked how Ultron was much more alive as a villain than Ronan was in GOTG which was the big complaint with that movie. Most of the comedy was really good (loved the running jokes with Thor's Hammer) and all the action was great. There was a lot of stuff being setup well especially with the growing tension with Tony and Cap, the New Avengers, and reasons for the public to turn on them as well with the Hulk's rampage and Tony being responsible for Ultron. The Hulkbuster looked fucking badass.

Collector has the Reality Gem, Asgard has the Space Gem/tesseract, the Time and Soul Gems haven't been found yet, though with Adam Warlock's cocoon in GOTG I wouldn't be surprised if the Soul Gem is in GOTG 2

Going to see this tomorrow for the 10:30 AM showing (already printed my ticket off Fandango). Excited but is there anything I need to know that's pertinent to the plot? I haven't seen Thor 2 but have seen Captain America 2 along with the 2nd & 3rd Iron Mans.

The only one out of those that you should really see is Captain America: TWS.

EDIT - I read that more carefully and apparently you have seen it. Thor 2 is not a required viewing.

I have a feeling that the Soul Gem will show up in Dr. Strange. As for the Time gem, I think it may show up in Dr. Strange as well or maybe Thor: Ragnarok.

Iron Man 2 was a Phase 1 movie, basically bringing Black Widow into MCU existence for Avengers.

Iron Man 3 is about Tony's PTSD and desire to not have to be Iron Man.
Spoiler: show
This is important to the movie in the sense this sets off the entire plot of the film, but at the same time the movie ended with him not being Iron Man and here he is, being Iron Man. Dama mentioned this too. Maybe it's covered in a pre-movie comic. It's pretty easy to just piece together though as this movie spells it out.

Thor 2 may have had more importance but from what a friend told me / I later read online, scenes that would have played in to those characters were all cut from the theatrical version.
Spoiler: show
By this I mean Loki is impersonating Odin at the end of Thor 2, but all of Loki's Avengers 2 scenes were cut.

A lot of the carried over plot elements is directly from Winter Soldier.

There's not anything about that picture that ruins the movie for anyone, Venkman.

but you're not supposed to know about Loki's Sceptre having a gem until the movie tells you.

Except he was given the staff by the Chitauri in Avengers, who didn't have the Tesseract.

It was fun. I thought it was significantly below the first but it held my interest and safely slots into the second tier of Marvel movies.

Spoiler: show
Especially loved the hammer scene and enjoyed Quicksilver's scenes a lot. My main complaints are they could've done more with Ultron, the Banner/Black Widow romance was cute but felt out of nowhere and the Thor dunked in the water scene was just terrible.

Enjoyed it a lot. I felt the first one was tighter from a script/pacing standpoint but this movie felt more... Joss Whedon in terms of shot style and interspersing of action with 'downtime' scenes.

Spoiler: show

- Love Elizabeth Olsen so glad she got a fair amount of screen time. Thought she'd be a pushover character given Quicksilver beside her, pleasantly surprised.
- Curious what got on the cutting room floor and if the majority will be added in an 'Extended Edition'. Part of me thinks the Banner/Black Widow stuff got cut a bit. Also loved the back story flashbacks and wonder if some of that got trimmed down as well. I felt like the Stark/Banner stuff was trimmed down greatly and some other back story stuff seemed trimmed if not excised completely.
- Action was great although at points there was so much going on it was almost hard to follow. Ultron felt kind of like a letdown in the penultimate fight and it almost felt like a rehash from the first movie.
- Some of the lines and quips worked. Overall, the film felt more serious and tried to have some weightier themes behind the motivations for various characters including Hawkeye. Really liked that Hawkeye got more screen time in this movie, and think Black Widow could've benefited from some stuff that seemed axed.

Thinking back on it, I really think this movie would've benefited from the stuff they had cut. From what I've read, the movie would've been a lot different had those scenes been in. Hopefully the Extended Version is released and the lost time actually makes the movie probably the way it is intended to be.

No wonder why Joss is tired. This might've been the first movie he had to fight to have stuff in, and it just wore him out.

Have they said if we're  going to get he extended edition/deleted scenes in a timely manner like say when this comes out on bluray? Or are they going to drag their feet like they're doing with Days of a future Past and try make everyone double or triple dip to get this shit. Because the sheer amount of footage cut from this thing is going to make it hard to wait for.

I don't think Marvel/Disney has yet to do an Extended Edition of anything.  Fox has pushed double dips for well over a decade but I really haven't seen or heard of Disney doing anything beyond Anniversary editions with more features.  Never seen them do a different cut and despite the money they would make on it, I would be surprised.

According to what someone wrote on TVTropes, he was on a mission to make it 1 minute shorter than the 1st which resulted in the cuts.

I never really cared about any character or what happened during this movie but it all looked pretty neat and seemed to excite the people I saw it with. 5/10. Won't make any effort to see it again in theaters or on Netflix.

I think I'm getting burned out on comic book movies.

I'm guessing the people asking about Thor 2 saw it already, but Thor implying that he's currently in a relationship with Jane (while talking to Stark at the bar) is probably the only detail carried over into Avengers 2.

It was actually the only snippet of dialogue that took me out of the movie.

-"How's your A-lister love interest that appears in your standalone films but can't cameo in our ensemble franchise because the rest of us ate up the budget?"
-"She's well! How's your A-lister love interest that appears in your standalone films but can't cameo in our ensemble franchise because the rest of us ate up the budget?"
-"Very well!"

Very minor complaint, though. It was a fun movie.
