First quarter ended in March so it’s not that. More like RIP Bryan and it explains why he lost the belt. All those house shows must’ve drawn dick and there was an attendance decline to support that.

Vince has more control than ever if reports are to be believed. He's not gonna take responsibility for this and no one has the balls to tell him it's his fault which is why I'll say RIP Becky and Kofi. Becky because they started putting her on both shows and did everything possible to destroy her organic overness. There's also the fact they don't even replay her career defining moment in video packages as they always awkwardly cut to black to avoid showing Ronda being pinned. Kofi because Vince will be confused by Smackdown ratings going down again even though he just personally put him over. Seth should be fine in theory because he's replacing an absentee champion and just had HHH make an appearance for no reason other than to praise him.

They've blamed everyone they can blame and everyone is too afraid to tell Vince he's the issue. I expect at some point in the near future they will just start blaming the fans even more than they already do like with that video they did shitting on the Lafayette crowd and Sami Zayn's new gimmick. There will be campaigns for WWE fans to shame fellow fans who may question the product.

There's also no real reason to watch their TV every week when it's presented as glorified house shows like 75% of the time. There's a reason why anything different in producing of segments gets massive attention like Bray Wyatt's thing.

I agree strongly with the RIP Becky part of this, but Vince also has the most weird rationalizations of everything so he might blame it on Roman being out, or Becky missing house shows, or Seth missing house shows, etc. I don't really know, the guy is fucking weird.

Subscriptions also declined after Saudi Arabia so they got what they deserved.

The FOX deal and Mania will pretty up the numbers for the remaining quarters of the year, but it will be interesting to see if supposed talent unhappiness or continued negative PR from the Saudi deal or whatever the fuck AEW ends up doing takes a bite out of that.  If there's underlying problems they will eventually show up if you study the numbers enough (I want to say this was the first quarter in a while where merch sales were down, but one quarter doesn't make a trend).

Business speculation aside, I’m curious what the hush is on this current Bryan injury.  He was supposed to continue with Kofi and apparently they turned Owens heel again against plans based on Bryan being unavailable.

Great/rare interview with Brock.

It should be noted that Lesnar was humble, respectful, intelligent, well-spoken and warm. He showed all the hallmarks of being a small-town farm kid and that's why he fits in so well in Maryfield. More on that in a moment. He’s also incredibly vigilant of his brand and worth. He was also very interested in “giving back” and raising money to build a new arena. He realizes he’s been very lucky in life.
You should probably put your bandit hat on now.

Not sure what the proper thread for this is but Colt Cabana was at the same Avengers screening as me last night.

Random notes and quotes from the Conference Call for those interested. Lots of interesting nuggets IMO. All of these are from George Barrios unless otherwise noted.

"Q1 sought continuation of these trends as domestic ratings for Raw and SmackDown declined approximately 14% and 13% respectively and average attendance at our North American events declined 11%. On a positive note, network average paid subscribers increased 2% and digital video consumption increased 23%."

"Additionally, we are partnering with A&E to produce five documentaries on legendary WWE Hall of Fame Superstars under A&E's Network -- under the networks Iconic Biography banner."

"I mean, there's some things that -- you know, there's math so we're in 120 million homes on Fox versus 90 million on USA. So you've got a 33% increase on the homes so that's one. Number two, as mentioned when we signed the deals, the promotional commitments and our deal with our partners or Fox are fairly significant. I actually think they're going to over deliver because it's going to be good for them and not us, I also think that may create kind of a rising tide with our partners at USA as well."

Michelle Wilson "So we do believe that Fox will be leaning in into the sport aspect of what we're doing. While it's still the same product, we do believe that they'll bring us to a new advertising base and position us with a slight tweak. I wouldn't say it's entirely different but important to note that we will be promoted in all of Fox programming; their entertainment programming but specifically NFL on Thursday nights, major league baseball, NASCAR as George mentioned."

yeah they extended his contract 6 more months due to it being frozen while he was out with the wrist injury

This bothers me, how can an independant contractor have a contract frozen.  If he has competed his contracted downside dates cant he just walk away regardless?

I know that was a big issue when Mysterio left a few years ago and there was indication something along head lines was part of the holdup with Neville.

Surprised it hasn't been brought up that Dean Malenko quit/got fired from WWE. He's already booked for Starrcast.

I read this as Saints_Fan mostly spending his time on the board exclusively skimming the AEW thread and wonder how he got possessed by the ghost of Dama

That's nuts, she had a post while straddling said pole on IG this weekend. This is my first social media intersectional reaction to a post ever. I'm kinda weirded out by it.

Much like Backlash getting cancelled in June due to scheduling with the next Saudi Show, WWE just ended up cancelling that June stand alone Takeover from San Jose due to Saudi scheduling as well.

First Saudi show ruins my vacation idea, then they interfere with my bonus Takeover...
