A little late to the thrash revival, guys, but it's better than Toxic Holocaust or Municipal Waste's last two efforts.

Time for an oldie but a goodie, and FUN FACT: this is the song and band that made me fall in love with death metal.

I want to hate this for some reason...but damn it's pretty impressive.

Guess I'm really out of the loop. Just found out Howard Jones had to resign from Killswitch Engage a year ago due to being diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes.

That's why? I remember hearing he left during a tour but never finding out the reason. I also heard rumors that it was because he had issues with other members and had enough of it.

That sucks, dude. I don't even like Killswitch Engage beyond a song or two, but anybody having to stop doing what they love because of disease sucks.

Unless it was Yngwie Malmsteen. Fuck him.

Brent Hinds really hates "Smooth"

That was awesome. I wasn't a "Smooth" fan either, but my favorite Santana collaboration that got radio play was "Put Your Lights On" with Everlast.

Not metal by any means but we dont have a CTDWAT anymore and there's no pop-rock folder.  Having just recently released a new alhum, Three Days Grace's frontman left the band last week sighting the tried-and-true "non-life-threatening medical issues" reason that seems to be everyone's go-to when they leave a band these days. Maybe he discovered he's Diabetic (like KE's Howard Jones) but as far as I know, no other statement was been released.

Any other suggestions for any stoner doom like this?

Acid King, Pontiak, and Spirit Caravan. Check the backlogs of this very thread for probably 1000 other examples. Me and Gay Floyd are obsessed with stoner shit

I wouldn't say I'm obsessed (speaking of which, try The Obsessed Jaxxxson) with it, but I do enjoy it.

I'm currently listening to Reefer Sutherland by Bongripper and am enjoying it immensely.  No vocals just awesome instruments.

Oh, and I checked out Acid King, Pontiak, Spirit Caravan as well as Obsessed. I watched Pontiak's live performance they did for some Seattle radio station and thought it was pretty cool. Pretty laid back. Different than what I was expecting. Obsessed was more rock than I was expecting but not bad. Can't remember much about Acid King and Spirit Caravan other than I remember liking Spirit Caravan from what I heard of theirs.

The new Suffocation is odd. It's obviously them, but that opening riff...it's just...I can't quite put my finger on what's wrong with it. Maybe it's the guitar tone, maybe it's just the picking of the lick, but something about it's off.

EDIT: It starts off very Gary Holt-ish. Solid tune with some of the most straightforward drumming I've ever heard in a Suffocation tune. Not as great a song as "Surgery of Impalement" or "Abomination Reborn" (if we're talking their reformed years), and nowhere near as good as anything off of Effigy of the Forgotten or Pierced From Within, but it's definitely Suffocation, alright. A poppier Suffocation, but still Suffocation.

Kinda lame that Frank's only on for half the tour dates in support of the album with John Gallagher covering for the rest, though, but the man's choosing family over music, so it's forgiven.

Sounds like the same riff from Morbid Angel's "Dominate" with different distortion in a different key

Agent, I recommend the next time you do a lot of drugs you listen to The Great Barrier Reefer by Bongripper. It is a song that lasts an hour and 20 minutes.

Do you hear what I mean about the Gary Holt sound, though? Even the guitar tone sounds more like recent Exodus. I'm not sure if that's a bad thing or a good thing, though.

I'm tempted to go to this year's NE Metal and Hardcore Festival. Not sure, though.

Friday night's set is headlined by Anthrax with support by Exodus and Municipal Waste, but the rest of the bands are either mediocre now (Shadows Fall), bands I've never heard of (most of the openers), or bands I fucking loathe (Death Before Dishonor, HATEBREED).

Saturday's looks solid overall, but I can't think of a single band besides Ensiferum I'd be interested in seeing. The majority of the rest looks like a bunch of bands I just don't care for. I don't hate them, I don't love them, but they're just there to me. Opeth, Katatonia, Dillinger Escape Plan, Terror, Fit For An Autopsy...in fact, I think the only bands I really cannot 100% fucking stand are Born of Osiris and Within Ruins.

Sunday is another day with one or two bands I'd be really interested in, headlined by Suicidal Tendencies and also featuring DRI and Sick of it All, but the rest (Miss May I, Job For A Cowboy, and all of the lesser-known fashioncore openers) are absolute shyte.

Yeah, another year of NEMHF that I'll be skipping. Bring on Summer Slaughter and NE Deathfest this summer!

DEP played on the first Gigantor festival. They were awful live. They played early in the day and there were like a dozen people in the crowd and none of them payed attention to the band.

Dave Lombardo's out of Slayer. Again. This time it's because he brought up that management is making 90% of the income from their world tour and he wanted a bigger cut for the four of them, so now he's gone. Again.

Hey, at least this time it's not because of a coke problem.

Also, the Summer Slaughter lineup has been released, and it's lame.

I guess he can fall back on Fantomas or Grip Inc.

I like Dillinger Escape Plan and Animals as Leaders, but that's about is as far as the lineup is concerned.

Ghost's album has been delayed a week in the US because four different disc manufacturers refused to print their artwork.  Only a problem in the US of course.  So we'll now be getting alternate artwork on the disc itself.
