I hate Wiig and Rudolph.

But Moms a Korean Water Ghost is pretty funny.

Word up, treble. I liked the original stuff this week, but every single recurring bit was DIRE.
Of course cage matches work.  If they didn't work, everybody would still be in the cage.

I was glad that they got Gilly out of the way in the monologue.

And no Mindy Grayson and Secret Word was nice.

The Californians is fucking wretched.

Maybe if they renamed it the Orange County-ians to be more specific to who they are satirizing?

However even then it is so over-exaggerated it comes off as beyond absurd, not to mention the skit itself always seems to last forever.

Whether you were a Wiig fan or not, this episode was pretty damn weak.

I cannot understand why this is a repeat bit. I suppose the punchlines are when they makes faces at the camera... I guess. There aren't actual jokes in these bits.

Yeah, it was maybe ok as a one-off skit, but everytime there is a new edition it seriously looks like one of those skits where it's sole purpose is to see if they can make each other screw up and laugh during the skit.

The episode kind of made me dislike Cecily Strong since without her presence in some of those awful sketches, I could have FF'd through much faster.

Bill Hader is leaving the show.

http://www.nytimes.com/2013/05/15/arts/television/bill-hader-to-leave-saturday-night-live.html?_r=1&adxnnl=1&adxnnlx=1368536411-HwZ0N6rjZtwGXkpd4q+1mg&

with Hader, Sudeikis and Meyers all gone season 39 looks to be a transitional year for the male cast.  Fred (and Kenan) should leave if they have any dignity

Nice send off for Hader, Fred and Jason but man that episode sucked something fierce.  Affleck essentially did nothing all night.  This season started out so well. I'm wondering if Lorne will hire established names after this mass exodus of the male cast.  The last few times he tried that, 85-86 and 94-95, were complete disasters but he may feel he has to

Yeah with the max exodus happening SNL is essentially left with a bunch of bit players that either need to step into main roles, really quick or Lorne will have to go find some name value folks.

Sudeikis was on Letterman and revealed he was leaving the show. I like Taran Killam a lot but no way can you build the show around him and others just yet.  Lorne pretty much has to bring in some established acts

5 new castmembers added.  Including writer Michael Patrick O'Brien and the guy in the AT & T commercials interviewing the Kindergarten kids

http://www.deadline.com/2013/08/john-milhiser-noel-wells-eyed-as-new-saturday-night-live-cast-additions/

also James Downey will not be returning.  Downey has been with the show off and on since the late 70s

We're getting closer to the season premiere, so how's about a random discussion topic: Where do you rank the late '90s/Early 2000s cast? The one with Ferrell, Fallon, Kattan, Parnell, Oteri, Morgan, etc.? They got a lot of hate back in the day, but almost 20 years after they started, do you think their stuff holds up? Has aged terribly? I only ask because I realized that they tend to get ignored in favour of the late '80s/early '90s cast and the current cast when talking about SNL.

Cecily Strong will co anchor update with Seth Meyers (and will likely take over if he leaves when he starts Late Night)

Tim Robinson was a demoted to a writing position (ouch)

and yet another new castmember.  Brooks Whelan.

Is it just me or was Miley pretty great?

The celebrity 50 shades skit was classic (I'm gonna need about 30 minutes on these buttons, playa). The government shutdown/We Can't Stop mix was also pretty wild. Miley looked gorgeous in her Bachmann get up.

the last time she hosted we all commented on how hot she looked.  Definitely needs a new hairstyle.

Kyle Mooney's short at the end was great.  I like him and Beck Bennett.  Cecily has been pretty bad on Update so far.  Sorry Venk

Picked back up my 90's SNL viewing on netflix, on the '98 season and I forgot how painful the Pretty Living sketch with Molly's "I love it" character was, not just so unfunny but they tend to be rather long, just watched the one with Ben Stiller hosting and it ran for a good 8 minutes, so bad...

I liked the "Critters" sketch, Wes Anderson parody and  the slave sketch was alright.  Everything else?  Eh.  I think it's more the writing than the performers.  I don't see how Mike O'Brien lasts more than a season (if that).  Dude has absolutely zero stage presence

Cecily is terrible on Update

Mr. Senior was great. He echoed all my feelings about early Christmas perfectly.
I watched RAW. I thought it sucked. The usual problems and such.
