Ordered some hockey cards and just did an order for football of: 2019 Panini Unparalleled, 2019 Panini Contenders Draft Picks, 2019 Panini Certified, and 2019 Panini Prizm with a 2017/2018 Panini Essentials 7 Pack Box - NBA as my free gift. I feel like while everybody is chasing the 2020 NFL Draft, this is a prime period to take advantage of guys who may've had a down rookie season (who I know have legitimate talent) who have potential to flourish a lot in Year 2.

Here are my better hockey card snags. The Lidstrom is from the Hit Parade that DaCardWorld does (I stupidly didn't realize it was just a 1 card order though, d'oh).

I actually just dug out all of my cards from a closet to go through and weed them down. I have 3 giant plastic totes full of them. Vast majority is late 80s/90s. I'm maybe 1/10th of the way through. Pulled out a nice stack of early 90s football cards so far, and a few hockey cards of guys I actually remember like Gretzky, Hull, Lemieux, etc. Vast majority of this stuff is baseball. In the one box I've managed to find most of my Michael Jordan baseball cards. Still looking for the Jordan/Harry Caray Upper Deck card that I remember pulling back in the day.

So many commons. What the hell do you guys do with all your commons?

Not sure what I have for NBA cards anymore. I know I traded a lot that I had away as a kid. I'm actually tempted to hunt down a few boxes of early 90s stuff.

I bought some of those cardboard storage boxes a few years back.  Then I made a project of sorting them all alphabetically by last name.  I mainly collected basketball and baseball and had a good amount of wrestling ones, so there are boxes of each sport.  So if I am looking for a Shawn Kemp card, I just find the basketball box with the Ks and all the Shawn Kemp cards are together.

It took some time to do it but it helped as I was a big time autograph collector, specifically on cards.  So I would either bring some with me to games or at times, send them through the mail.

Haven’t touched these boxes in years as the past few years I’ve only broken a couple boxes where everything is together for set building.

DaCardWorld's 1990-2004 Basketball Cards is a good start but probably not that worthwhile IMO to spend so much on that era unless you're aiming for Michael Jordan or Kobe Bryant.

A lot of the commons I just throw out or, like SFH does, donate to local areas e.g. hospitals or YMCAs. I mostly donate the commons of star players or Boston based sports teams when I do.

I just know when its all said and done I have like a whole tote thats just going to be early 90s baseball cannon fodder.

91-92 Skybox was one of my least favorite basketball card looks ever. That ordinary white with random blocks and shapes of colors did nothing for me. Loved the year before with the bronze look to the cards. This is around the time I started buying cards as a kid.

I love all those early 90s card.  I ha dado many of both Skybox sets referenced but I always loved but never had many of the 92-93 Skybox.  Price got jacked on a lot of those sets as a kid due to that being Shaq’s rookie year.

Random 90s NBA set I want to shout out - 1995-96 Fleer

Each division had their own style card so Atlantic division players had uniform design versus Central division, special looks for the two expansion teams and the rookies too.  I remember building that set and needing to spend $3 to get the Jordan card, which seemed crazy at the time.  I love that set.

Those 92-93 Fleer sets always looked pretty solid too. I loved the 'ridged basketball' look on the back of the cards.

Can’t remember last time I broke a box.  Had been in the thought process seeing I mostly care about autograph cards these days to just buy autographs I want rather than the gamble of buying a box and maybe getting junk.  I know the last couple boxes I got had kinda junk in those categories.

Right now, I don’t really want to buy off random eBay people.  I was thinking maybe I’d treat myself to a box from Amazon or Wal-Mart where I’m still ordering some groceries and supplies.

Since these days I really only get basketball or WWE, I started browsing.  Topps releases so many WWE sets now, there were a few hobby boxes at okay prices that I’ve waffled on.

NBA though?  Don’t know if it is the Zion hype but all the product is crazy expensive this year.  Stuff like Hoops that had hobby boxes in the $80 range are $150, blaster boxes that usually are $20 are in the $40s, I even saw some place selling fat packs for $35.

I did go back and see last year stuff is fairly pricey too, which I figure with Luca and Trae cards.  I saw okay pricing on the set from the Ball/Tatum rookie year.  I think the last time I got a box was before that.  I still have them sitting in the wrappers so I could’ve done a box break article for CXF, so it’s been a while.

With the basketball pricing, I’m just not sure I want to pull the trigger as unless I got something insane, I’d feel guilty or dumb dropping that money on pieces of cardboard right now.
