The last thing we should ever see in this series is a suited up Bruce Wayne going after some new criminal in town called The Joker while Commissioner Gordon looks on from the Bat-Signal.

I hope they don't throw everything at us in season one.

An interview with the guys in charge of Gotham said that the Joker wouldn't actually appear until years down the road in the show, but that Jerome is linked to him in some way.

Do you think the kid who plays bruce will be able to buff up enough to make a believable batman in 5 years or so, or will they jump into the future and recast his part? Or will they never shpw a suited up batman and end the series still in the pre-batman years

Will this show be interesting enough to go on for five years? They seem to be blowing their load and do as much as possible right away.

Finally watched the episode from Monday and good god does the Fish Mooney stuff just get more and more ridiculous. Someone just fucking kill her already, she's outlived her role on the show.

I'd like to see numerous people teased as possibly being the Joker and have it never confirmed which is actually him because that pays tribute to the comics and one of the best parts of his character which is that you just don't know what his background is. He's more of a force than a person.

This show is definitely blowing its load though. It has no sense of pacing.

Yeah I really didn't get the hate for Fish when she was actually in Gotham, but this current thing with her is hard to sit through. I was hoping when she left that she'd be gone till at least the end of the season, if not till next season (if they get a second one), but nope.

I think she should have been killed off. They got everything they could from the character believably. Maroni and the other boss's (whose name I can't remember right now) rivalry should get the focus. She served her purpose and I didn't mind her in Gotham but really she was the least interesting out of her original trio of her, Butch and Penguin. Or talented.

Agreed. Annoyed that we basically have to get through another plot involving her trying for a power play, this time without any interesting side characters around her to play off of. I also preferred the interactions between Butch & Penguin to her & Penguin.

Ideally, the show should've focused more on the Don Falcone/Don Maroni stuff initially and the Mob-esque turf wars through Season 1 while setting up a (failed) power play attempt by Fish Mooney with Penguin subsequently taking over for her.  Then at the end of Season 1, you could set up Arkham's being utilized and re-opened to start Season 2 while carrying the investigation into the killer of Bruce Wayne's parents as the secondary plot thread of S1.

I just don't see where they can go even by Season 3. I presume that one of Falcone/Maroni will die by then and (hopefully) Fish is dead possibly setting up a Penguin vs. ___ war. It's just so hard because it's largely supposed to be about the GCPD and 'Gotham' itself yet like you've said, CWM, they're blowing their wad so much trying to get as many of the rogues gallery featured as possible whilst already including key minor characters within the GCPD such as Dr. Leslie Thompkins, Edward Nygma, and Harvey Dent.

It was the same for me.  I was responding to a text when it happened, pulled a "wait, what?", rewound, then laughed. There were some solid parts of this episode and there was that.

Yeah, I just assumed a male would give a better performance, as he'd be more suited for that type of role. Not to mention males are generally better than females at most things (obviously besides child rearing, etc.).

So it is not the writing of the character that is the problem, but the performance, correct? I'm picturing it being pulled off correctly and the character looking like a real bad ass psycho.

So some thoughts on the season finale...

Spoiler: show

- BATCAVE!
- Fish finally died. Did not see her killing Maroni though nor did I see Falcone 'retiring' but I guess they needed a way to set up Penguin as the new "Godfather" of Gotham in some manner.
- I actually like Nygma's backstory & mental break although it's much more closely tied to Mad Hatter's origin from BTAS in terms of reaction/set up. His having to put a riddle in worked too.
- Selina getting a taste of evil was nice to see. It can actually give her a slightly harder/darker edge than just young girl cat burglar thief in the night.
- Barbara going after Dr. Thompkins... feh, whatever. I don't care much for Barbara's character at all.
- I think the 'big' storyline in Season 2 will largely be Bruce's exploration of the BAT CAVE! and Gordon going up against Loeb for power in the GCPD.

I thought that was Barbara Gordon though so I don't really buy that one but I totally expect

him to be Joker
down the road.

Fun premiere and already glad that Fish is gone.

This show has gotten almost unwatchable. I probably should have given up on it last season when it was the Jada Pinkett Smith overacting clinic but I kept going. Now it's just a lot of bad ideas and lack of understanding of characters meshing together into incoherency.

A good friend of mine from high school was apparently on Monday's episode. I didn't watch it but he supposedly had a speaking role. I'll need to check that out.

I caught up with the first season on Netflix and thought it wasn't bad.

I watched a few episodes last season, and it just didn't do it for me. I wanted to like it, but the writing was really lackluster IMO.

"The Godfather: Part Iraq" (2004) In this 4th installment of the Godfather series, the godfathers head to iraq to settle the score, of 9/11.

Yeah, I'm only still going for Penguin and the guy who plays Gordon but it's... stagnant because the main villain guy is just so boring and uninteresting.

Also the guy who plays Nygma is starting to get interesting for me after last week's episode, curious where he goes.

I don;t care about Penguin and Gordon really even if they're well acted. Penguin is too much of a joke character most of the time to ever take seriously and Gordon was ruined the second he did dirty work for Penguin this season (and killed someone while doing it!). Whatever the circumstance and reasoning (Bruce Wayne said something to him! Well he's gotta do it now!) for Jim Gordon to run off and do that and to kill someone (even in self defense, it was during a criminal act) shows such a complete lack of understanding of what Jim Gordon is supposed to be I lost any interest in his character for good.

I felt the same way until the end. It was more of a true origin story than most of the future Bat-villains have gotten. Although I hate that they changed his last name pronunciation to 'Frise.'

Yeah. I actually liked the slightly altered origin to him story wise but 2 episodes seemed really rushed for a story that could've been developed in the background for half the season.

his scenes because he basically is in full-on Joker mode now.

Don't know how many people even watch this because most weeks this show is painful and a chore but this week's show was one of the weeks I am glad I still tune in.  Really enjoyed the team ups and evolved characters though, you know, 16 episodes into Season 4 is kinda a haul of subpar stuff to get to one episode I enjoyed start to finish.  Fully expecting this show to start getting some things right and interested right in time for it to get cancelled.
