Nothing has been so far, I think we're ok. Sounds like it was a pretty decent show. Munoz is retiring now, right? I can definitely see that happening in the coming weeks.

Also CB Dolloway is a top ten MW wtf UFC in 2014.

Maia still can barely strike (though that knockdown was interesting) but he has cardio now. Watch out.

Yeah. That was pretty much what everyone expected.

I could take or leave Stann on commentary.

They're killing the legitimacy of their own product with some of this stuff. But they chose for things to be that way, and that's the way it's going to stay. At least the next UFN is a pretty good card. The others they have scheduled are, you know. You can do with or without them.

To be fair to the main event, JDS got hurt and Globo demanded a Brazilian to replace him. That's pretty hard to work around on short notice.

Yeah but both cards were built like that. When Francis Carmont was in the most exciting fight over TWO cards, you know something's up.

You seem to be in the minority here. I admittedly didn't see the fight but the vast majority of comments I've read online are "Maia won but the physical decline is glaring".

He had way better cardio than he did in the Rory fight, but he didn't have that level of opponent here, obviously. Maybe I have to see it again, but I don't remember anything too different from his usual self. He showed the same weaknesses that he always did.

People are saying that's fight/submission of the year.

I should have put money down on Rosholt, I knew the odds were too close for that one. Feel bad for Te-Huna, the PBP makes it sound like he got owned. By a blown-up welterweight on the last legs of his career, no less.

I haven't seen it yet but based on the combination and who he did it to Young Charles most certainly holds the title for SOTY so far. Impressive stuff, here's hoping he can chain some wins together and get people talking, this is a guy a lot of folks thought would beat Jim Miller at one point in his career.

Cub Swanson will be in the house for the Dublin show so expect McGregor to call him out to set up a #1 contender fight for the title. Wonder who they'll set Poirier up with if they're going with Conor/Cub.

He better.  Brandao got fed to the wolves against Poirier, came off like a douche, and his stock plummeted.  Conor needs 2 more fights, at LEAST.  He can draw for a little while without getting thrown right into the mix and possibly taking a big hit in momentum only a few fights into the UFC.

It worked with Brock, but this division's talent pool is exponentially deeper.

UFC wants the belt off of Aldo and doesn't care who'll take it at this point. If Conor wins he'll get a #1 contender fight for sure.

The war scream as he steps on the scale, and the way the crowd just goes along with it. Unreal. Also, props for rocking the CR7's.

This is quite long but really well done. This is the equivalent of one of those one-on-one TV specials that takes you in-depth on who the subject is. Conor seems really cool aside from the hype, very intelligent as well. Didn't know he was going through such tough times before he made it big in the UFC either.

Ilir Latifi has a SHITLOAD of potential. I know he's only beaten minor league level guys in the UFC, but the way his striking has improved from his debut is very noticeable. His guillotine was one of the nastiest I've seen, and now he brutally knocked a guy out on his feet. And this guy is a WRESTLER. He probably won't be a champion, but he's gonna make some noise and have some fun fuckin' fights.

The way he mixed up his kicks and punches was beautiful in this fight. That overhand right just snuck in there, very well-placed.

Even though I picked McCall to win a decision, I kinda think he'll embarrass Pickett en route to a stoppage, probably by TKO.

Not embarrassed but thoroughly outclassed apart from a few good punches here and there. These commentators are ridiculously biased though, "Pickett is in the center of the cage though and you know how important octagon control is in the scoring criteria". ARE YOU KIDDING ME

Gunnar is so talented but his strategy is equally as frustrating. He never shoots or even attempts a takedown. I understand that wrestling might not be part of his calm style, but once he even had an opportunity to sort of grapple on the ground in the front headlock, he turned that into a rear naked choke with the quickness.

He's like Machida on the feet, but he doesn't use his wrestling or even try to initiate grappling. He is one of the best P4P BJJ guys in MMA, he needs to implement that with more frequency. Coasting on your striking while waiting for the grappling to come to you is not going to work on the top guys.

Conor did exactly what an elite guy should do against Brandao. Would love to see him matched up with any top five guy but Cub because I really like him too. At this point though, that seems like the fight they have to make.

Sounds like a lot of folks are saying Gunnar should fight Rory next. I didn't see the fight but from what I've read online he didn't look that great up until the tapout. To those who saw the show- what do you think? Is Nelson ready for a step up?

The fight went like this - Gunnar was the better fighter on the outside/kicking distance with some good straight lefts (that you would figure from a karate-style/Machida type), but Cummings was bigger, stronger and tied him up in the clinch and against the fence.

That was the whole fight up until Gunnar got it to the ground (I believe via front headlock) and then Gunner instantly took the back, locked in a body triangle and got the RNC.

So Zac Cummings of all people laid out the blue print to beat Gunnar.

No one wants to admit it, but Gunnar is too small for the division. If he can make 155 (which I think he can), his style would be much better there.

He's admittedly been fighting guys that are relatively large for the division (Santiago and Cummings are both big WW's) but I think he'd run into trouble with somebody like Rory because it's not just strength but high level technique. I think he'll still do well but in the end I see him dropping to 155.

I don't expect Gunnar to break the top 5 at WW, or even be competitive against someone like Rory - unless Rory fights very tentatively, which I still expect a 30-27 for the Canadian.

I think Gunnar's next fight should be Kelvin, Rick Story, Ellenberger or Saffedine.

As previously mentioned if Cummins could get him against the fence with relative ease, Rory would do the same. Not to mention the size and striking advantage.

You're not the only one saying that, most people aren't really looking this as a win for Gunnie because he got the tapout like he was expected to but even in victory the gameplan to beat him was laid out and most places I looked scored the first round for Cummings.

Story would be a really good choice, he's got the style to give Nelson problems but his defensive liabilities on the ground are there to be taken advantage of.

That fight might turn out to be boring as shit but once again a good test for Gunnar. Any of the dudes HSJ suggested would work but I think they should go back to the original plan and put Nature Boy in there with him.
