6'1 LaFlare vs 5'7 Howard. That reach difference is going to be comical.

It was a bit troubling that he was getting lit up by an untested prospect in his last fight but Guida hasn't chosen to actively engage anybody since probably the Bendo fight. I'm not too worried.

I think Soriano is really good. I just hope that Guida doesn't steal a decision by stuffing takedowns and applying pressure against the fence in between bobbing up and down to get his hair moving and then those judges will be like "WOW this guy really brings it! 30-27"

Crusher is pretty strong and Guida was never a beast as far as takedowns goes, I don't see him being able to clinch his way to a victory.

I didn't realize until now that this card airs today at noon.

This is gonna be a tricky game of "hide the internet browser when my boss walks by."

Its on Fight Pass. I literally started this very topic about Fight Pass.

NoCalMike said something about it being hard to find streams for Fight Pass cards. They must have this on lockdown.

Japanese MMA is still stuck in like 2006. TK has the skills but not the cardio or IQ to win this fight. There's no excuse for that, those are two factors that always seem to hold back Japanese fighters. I can understand skills holding someone back, but there's no reason one shouldn't understand how to use strategy or have the cardio to implement it.

And yes, Guida fought and came forward so no more hating from me.

Dan Hardy and this other Brit are a great commentary team. Just focusing on the fight and the strategies of the fighters and what they must do to win.

Much better than Anik/Florian.

DEAR GOD NOG BETTER RETIRE

HORRIFYING KO

the corner should've thrown in the towel. Nog was rocked like 6 times before the ko.

That's one of those ugly, cumulative KO's that you only get in boxing. Knocked down, fuck up his brain a little. Knock him down again, fuck up his brain so much that he can't even stand straight. Then save your biggest shot for last and put him out COLD. A true deathkill KO.

rip (should've used this theme btw, GOAT theme could have saved him)

EVERYONE saw this coming when the fight was announced, good on Roy for at least not pulling a Jeremy Stephens or anything. Nog's not gonna have a great rest of his life with all the beatings that he's taken, and this is the kind of KO that really puts those problems over the top.

I don't blame Roy for loading up on the shot, clearly the ref and the corner weren't going to do anything so he had to Old Yeller him.

Brent Brookhouse ‏@brentbrookhouse 1m

Reading stories and forum threads about Nogueira's fading health and need to retire. ....from 2007

That's p. much how I feel. He looked cooked after the Sylvia fight (and the Heath High kick knockdown sort of showed all those PRIDE beatings had taken their toll), and I've been saying FOR YEARS that he should have retired. But now Twitter is filled with all these faux-concerned people talking about how he needs to retire. "That fight was disgusting", "that fight made me uncomfortable", "retire now", etc. etc. Please, he's been a dead man walking for like six years, yet most of these people looked forward to all those fights showing no concern for his health. They only thought he was 'shopworn' and worried about how that would affect his performance.

This fight was brutal but the damage has been done.

Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira has suffered severely with the site in one of his eyes in past years. Go back and look at the Openweight Grand Prix opener from last year. One of the guy's eyes is completely bluish gray with cataracts.

Anyway, as I understand it, after the cataract removal, he had like 40 percent vision or so in his eye. He was given the opportunity for some procedure which would either restore the vision in his eye, or harm it worse. It did the latter and now he only has 10-20 percent vision in one of his eyes.

That's from 2007. I don't recall this at all WTF

Quote
Dana can be interested in Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira all he wants. The guy ain't getting no license to fight in the US. Dude is practically blind in one eye.

I remember one of his eyes looking bad but that kind of thing can be surgically corrected.

The two Fedor fights (not the NC, obvs) probably took twenty years off his life alone. Those shots Fedor landed from on top would have killed a lesser man.
