What gets me is these guys act like Dana held a gun to their heads and forced them to sign a contract. He agreed on the contract. He has no room to bitch.

Sure he does. The two aren't mutually exclusive. He signed the contract because he was a mostly unknown prospect who was offered a shot at the big time. Doesn't mean that once he's there that things can't change for the better.

Also his issue is not with the terms of his previous contract. It's with the fact that they're not giving him enough fights, and that the contract they've offered after this one finishes is not good. Which is the point of the article, that he's going to test free agent waters to see if he can find a better one.

Zuffa also changed the terms of the contract by not allowing these guys to pick up sponsorship, further limiting their earning potential.

The problem is that Zuffa is deliberately not offering guys fights because they know that the fighters are disgruntled and that they're going to have to pay them to make up for the loss in sponsorship dollars.

Then he can finish up his contract and go somewhere else after his matching period is over.

And the number of fights thing is a problem with the size of the roster. The only way to fix that is a mass firing.

I don't think it has a lot to do with the size of the roster. It is a deliberate tactic, one they've used on other fighters during other eras. Introducing other weight divisions, like the one Sterling fights in, was also not some altruistic thing. It was another way of acquiring cheap labor to fill out shows.

Was just coming here to post that. I still think he stays, 135 is a thin division and I dunno if they'd hand Bellator one of the top prospects in all the sport approaching the peak of his career.

Brendan Schaub, doing a fabulous job of making himself look stupid is claiming that Nova Uniao fighters are "0-8, 1-7" since the random drug testing started. Riiiiiight.

Yeah I'm sure it had nothing to do with the fact that Conor and Dillashaw are straight up killers.

CABMMA is saying that there's a ton of fighters who have submitted fraudulent medical reports since they began requiring medical tests before fights and have said none of them are UFC fighters.

BloodyElbow's article on it uses a picture with a giant UFC logo in it. Top shelf reporting.

I mean, he's not wrong in that Nova Uniao has had a rough go of it lately but I'm not sure how that somehow relates to everybody being on the juice.

http://www.sherdog.com/news/news/TJ-Dillashaw-Chael-Sonnen-is-an-Idiot-that-Cannot-Stay-Clean-97621

I really like the way he comes across here. Very professional wrt the drama, carries himself the way an elite UFC fighter should in terms of his approach to his career and the haters. The part about Chael was refreshing because as much as I like him, nobody really calls him out. TJ pointing out the management link between Chael and Urijah does a good job of exposing Chael's motivation.

ONE Championship is taking huge steps to do away with weight cutting.  Unfortunate that progress on these things generally only comes after the worst case scenario has already played out, but good to see that they've designed what looks like a very good system that will be tough to cheat. Hopefully other organizations follow suit:

Chris Leben is training hard and feels like he can compete with the young guys in sparring. Hints that the time off from training/addiction has reinvigorated his body and he feels great (insert steroid accusation here). I don't think this guy should fight anymore, but Leben is Leben and if he wants to do it, I can't blame the UFC for giving him an opportunity. I don't know if his body is what he says it is though.

It seemed like they were selling "the new Chris Leben" every time he fought coming off a loss. Every single time he'd come back off a loss Leben would go on about finally training right, getting clean, blah blah blah.

Jaideep :(

This guy might actually have potential if brought up the right way with a good camp. Probably too traumatized to ever fight again though.

Fedor looked p. sharp, and more important to me he fought smart, not recklessly like he did in some of his losses. But I'm quite sure guys like Cain wouldn't be easy to ragdoll like that, even if Fedor could punch his way into the clinch.

I don't know who makes a good heavyweight fight for him outside of the UFC. Also, looking at their top ten I'd feel comfortable picking him against most outside of Reem/Cain/Werdum. JDS looks cooked now unfortunately, and I still don't think the rest of the old guard in Barnett/Mir/Arlovski can keep up with him. But we never got Barnett/Fedor or Mir/Fedor, and those would both be awesome fights now.

But a potential fight with Fedor makes Bellator an attractive destination for any big-name free agent. Can you imagine Fedor vs. Jon Jones? The Reem is a free agent now that I think about it, he could get a MASSIVE payday if he decided to take that fight. A lot of people have been wanting to see that for years too. I hope his manager knows to bring that up in negotiations with the UFC brass, at least.
