From the looks of the preview scenes for episode 5, there's going to be somewhat of a time skip similar to last season where the case was deemed "closed" but they decide it doesn't sit well with them so they go back and open it.

The shit with Bike Cop and his girlfriend was fucking hilarious and awful too. Man this show is just so bad. I think like the third or fourth best reoccurring actor has been the fat redhead kid which is fucking scary because all he does is stand their and look like hes gonna shit his pants in fear.

This is what happens when a hack can't rip off comics anymore, gets butthurt by criticisms from SJWs about the characters in season 1 and people in the industry saying the director and actors of the show were carrying a mediocre script.

The fact that after the first two episodes directed by the Fast & Furious guy have been directed by people whose only experience is with public access level stuff in their own countries and/or some really awful stuff is terrifying.

Colin Farrell and Rachel McAdams deserve better than this. Both have been great. I have no clue what's going on with the conspiracy and, what's worse, I really don't give a shit. Is there any world in which this Vince Vaughn character is even mildly believable? And can anyone, ever, speak like a normal person? The screenplay is fucking terrible. I've been trying really hard to like this but it's not rewarding my faith.

I checked out a few minutes into episode 2 and started checking Facebook and TSM and stuff for the rest of the episode. I haven't bothered to start watching the next episode yet.

I'm on the verge of giving up on this show. Outside of McAdams, Farrell and Vaughn, nothing on it feels like it's worth watching anymore.

Anyone else think that........

Spoiler: show
Frank possibly set-up Ray with the shotgun sabotage because he already knew the police caught the real rapist (could be off due to time elapsed. Or possibly it was Frank himself in the mask? I'd have to go back and watch the scene again to see if we got any kind of shot of a huge height difference.

Frank's as much out of the loop in his own world as Velcoro is in his at Vinci PD.

They were meant to be the only friends each other have.

Is it possible Velcero's wife was having an affair and used the rape to cover it up as far as the child goes? Maybe that is why she is pushing so hard for the paternity test because she knows her son is probably not a result of the rape?

It was pretty good aside from too much sappy dialogue setting up the inevitable death of the main guys.  I was pulling for both.  Kinda hate they both went down.

What's everyone's theory on Frank basically committing suicide before the Mexicans could drive off? I mean, were the diamonds in his packet and he needed them, was it his pride, did he want to die because he'd have always feared his wife wife would get killed being associated with him? He seemed like more the type that would have let the guys drive off and then plot to fuck them up later.

I assumed he had the diamonds and thought he could get off with a beating.
Although what are your survival chances in the desert even without being stabbed?

But yeah, despite finding this season somewhat hit or miss I realised I was pretty invested in Ray and Frank by the end and was rather hoping they'd make it..

Yah I'm pretty he didn't give up the jacket cause of the diamonds and didn't think he'd get killed over it.

I agree with everyone else, the season wasn't very good but I did find myself rooting for Ray and Frank. Thought both their deaths were pretty hackneyed but the scene of Ray by his car waiting after he sees the tracker was very suspenseful.

...uh Frank was dying either way. It was either get humiliated by giving up his suit and forced to walk the desert or dying with a little dignity and not going  out the way most would to gangs like that.

I didn't hate the second season, though for damn sure, some of it was difficult to follow. And I thought some of the admittedly awful dialogue had become apart of the True Detective charm. It seemed to me that most critics wanted to bury it before it even existed. I didn't mind Vaughn, I even liked some of his performances as well as the character.

Seemed like Pizalotto wasn't ready for any type of criticism. Starting a new show takes away the expectations that come with a name that became something relatively big in a short period of time.

It was mentioned earlier in the thread that TD season 1 had ripped off some graphic novels? Can somebody elaborate?

The could bring back Alexandria Daddario and have her walk around nude for an hour each week. That would bring the series back in a strong way.

Season 3 is official with Mahershala Ali starring and its centered around a murder in the Ozarks which sounds good, but Nic Pizzolatto is going to write every episode and will direct half the episodes.

Jeremy Saulnier was one of the only reasons I was almost mildly looking forward to this and it looks like Pizzolatto's difficulty forced him out. Does anyone even want a third season of this? HBO should move on from Nic Pizzolatto.

Think it has been a good season. Ali & Dorff have been awesome and I really like the three different timelines.

Another good episode tonight. They are doing a really good job of interweaving all of the different timelines to have some importance. I think after tonight they made it so the actual murder timeline to be the least interesting.

Once again can't say how awesome Dorff has been!

I'm five episodes in and this is almost as good as the first season. There isn't a big time character like a Rust Cohle, but Ali, Dorff, and Scoot McNairy are all incredible. The acting is probably better here than the first season tbh. Pizzolatto's writing is pretty solid here and he toned down all the lame edgelord lines that were all over season 2 and some of the first season. Pizzo's still got a problem with writing female characters and Carmen Ejogo is kind of just there so far, but I fucking love Stephen Dorff's character so much.

Spoiler: show
Almost teared up at him calling out Purple Haze for not visiting him for 24 years.
