I wasn't sure where to even start a thread about a show 16 episodes into its first season with a few Golden Globe awards under its belt, but this seemed like good way to scratch the surface:

I do have to point something out... in the episode that aired after the Super Bowl, when Jake was eating his breakfast burrito (a fruit roll-up filled with gummi bears) he noted he had no dentist. The episode on Tuesday revealed he had briefly read a column in The New Yorker while visiting his dentist.

Either a joke induced plot-hole OR a payoff to the fact he decided to get a dentist two days later.

Fun fact #1 - They film this show in LA, so I am part of the second unit team that films exteriors of Brooklyn for them. I made $100 for 30 minutes of work last week. Thanks Andy Samberg!

Fun fact #2 - Chelsea Peretti is the definition of a butter-face.

I've found every episode very re-watchable and have done so on Hulu, more than once with some.

I really wish it would have gotten a boost from the Super Bowl, but maybe word of mouth will help it for next season.

Is NBC kicking themselves for letting it go to FOX? How does that arrangement work anyways?

I'm just catching up on this show and am loving it. Whomever had the casting foresight to place Andre Braughter as a gay man should get a trophy.

Also Stephanie Beatriz and Melissa Fumero are both ridiculously hot in their own special ways.

I just caught up on the last 4 or so episodes

I really love this show.  I think it's been hurt by FOX being inconsistent with it IE. random breaks where it's off the air breaking the momentum.  Didn't they change the time slot too, with no promotion?  They had to pick it up when it won the best comedy emmy.  Hope they give it a big push in the fall, because it's a show that will obviously have a cult following but if they could get a wider audience to catch on with it could be huge

I need to get used to modern TV schedules - I realized this show had very few repeat weeks (even airing twice the week of the Superbowl) but I had no idea it was because the season finale is next week. I don't like March season finales.

Roy I think the only break it had was between a bit between Thanksgiving and Christmas, then over the holiday season (when most shows were in repeats or off the schedule).

The best thing Fox did was move it to Sunday after The Simpsons. The ratings are really solid and if they wanted to, they could just leave it there and let it run forever.

Just caught up on this show and I like it so much more than I expected. Wasn't a big Samberg fan before but he's great in this and Captain Holt is, hands down, one of the best characters on television.

FOX has renewed this for a third season. Moving it to Sunday was really the best move they cold have made. The ratings are up. If they wanted to, I think FOX could leave it there for as long as they wanted and the show could keep going.

I'd still hit it. But the chick that plays Santiago is the best. *growl*

This show is hilarious. My mom doesn't get it but Dadaramu loves it. So we have that in common.

I started watching this a few weeks ago and am now all caught up. I actually think my favorite character is Diaz (see sig). I'm starting to think the producers realized they couldn't get Aubrey Plaza and just got another latina actress to basically imitate her. I agree, wasn't much of a fan of Samberg beforehand but he's great here.

I told you in chat that was a stupid thought to have, and to now be completely caught up and still think that (presumably because the show is from the same producers) that Diaz is an April Ludgate expy is an absolute mischaracterization of those characters and/or the actresses that play them. And Diaz is your favourite character! Kind of baffling there. I in no way see Aubrey working as a tough as nails bad ass lady cop. "Indifferent slacker" is more the role being played by Chelsea for Gina.

The show's helped Samberg gained new fans and given him a bit more credibility, I think. Even people who think the Lonely Island songs were the dumbest things ever like him on the show.

I'm just glad his career wasn't ruined after That's My Boy. It's actually closer to Jimmy Fallon's career than someone like Chris Katan.

Two sarcastic, off-kilter, no nonsense females who put up a tough front but are soft inside and occasionally threaten physical violence. I call it like I see it.

And I actually liked Lonely Island but it's more of a collaborative effort rather than Andy Samberg solo vanity project.

Totally agree on the Jimmy Fallon point. I couldn't stand either on SNL, but once they left, both became better. I actually like Fallon now and he's really a good talk show host. Sandberg I liked more before he left, but I've enjoyed his stuff away from SNL. I thought he was great in I Love You, Man.

I was reading the AV Club's review of the season finale, and there was some discussion of Stephanie Beatriz's real voice compared to how she does Diaz's voice, so I brought up a Youtube video of her talking normally, and holy crap it's so different.

It's just baseless speculation but seeing people predict the new chief (before Holt inevitably gets his job back) will be played by Nick Offerman has me pretty excited for season 3.

I'm currently watching the Die Hard episode.

Is this a good episode by the show's standards? I only ask because jeez this is dull.
Maybe the real deep state was the friends we made along the way.

I personally felt it was probably one of the weaker ones this season.  Think it is one of those shows you have to start, watch it all but don't quit early.  Similar advice I give to people to start Parks and Rec.  It starts rough but it gets better the more you watched.  While Die Hard isn't as strong as other ones this year, it probably would look better if you had more attachment to the show when watching.

There's been several references throughout the show's run to Jake's super fandom of Die Hard, so when he's finally in a Die Hard situation it'd mean a lot more as a viewer already knowing that going in.  Not to mention Jake letting Boyle be the hero in the Die Hard situation is a nice nod to the friendship between Jake & Boyle.

Andre Braugher is just fantastic on the show, and the episode also didn't do too much w/ Capt. Holt / Diaz / Santiago story, so you missed out on prime Capt. Holt goodness.
