-I feel like I've said this before, but Samoa Joe's debut, in the fashion that he did so, is a recurring problem I have with NXT. For years, a lot of people (myself included) have been upset that WWE puts part timers and movie stars into big roles instead of guys who work hard all year. This happens in NXT all the fucking time, but we never complain because the movie stars are our movie stars. Samoa Joe fucking rules and it's great to see him (although he looked a little dopey in skinny jeans), but god damn dude, Tyler Breeze has been one of the best guys on this show for fucking ever. Is nobody the least bit bugged that Samoa Joe just leapfrogged him on the card? Or that he's been leapfrogged on the card by Owens, Balor and Itami already?

I was thinking about this too. Breeze is never going to get that top shot in NXT despite being constantly amazing.

The difference here is that these debuts are by people who will be working full-time. They also have a long history of quality work that the NXT crowd, predominantly internet-savvy professional wrestling fans who have already been fans of these talents, is very well aware of. This isn't Undertaker or the Rock coming in for one match a year, this is a well-known actor joining the cast of your favorite TV show and sticking around long term.

Plus, name one person on the NXT roster who deserves to be at that level besides Breeze (who isn't even at that level himself but likely will be soon enough).

I don't know if it's a problem, but NXT is at this weird crossroads where the performance centre and the Florida house shows are clearly designed to be developmental, but the TV show and the live specials are this smark super indy dream fed.

So, to recap:

- Sami Zayn wants to murder Kevin Owens for betraying him
- Hideo Itami wants to take Kevin Owens' Championship because he's a bad man
- Samoa Joe wants to beat Kevin Owens because he's Samoa Joe
- John Cena wants to beat Kevin Owens for Powerbombing the fuck out of him on RAW
- Finn Balor wants to take Kevin Owens' Championship because he wants to be NXT Champion

Kevin Owens has hit the Seth Rollins level of unlikeable-ness.

It is this weird conundrum.  But if I was one of those newer students, I'd be on cloud fucking nine right now since I'd be learning not only from highly competent trainers like Del Ray and Albert, but working out and riding with people like Kevin Owens and Zayn who have experience of their own to share.  As a fan it is kind of hard to alter my expectations for people like Banks compared to someone like Dana Brooks.  We shouldn't be expecting much from Brooks right now, but in six months she should be able to pull off at least competent matches with everything she has to learn from (and honestly she's already better than her first TV appearance).

Plus, there's no Bill DeMott to tell you what a fucking piece of shit you are.  Coming from a guy who is best known for his ring name being slang for an erect penis.

I never thought of it that way before, about how actual veterans are being brought into NXT for the true young rookies to learn from as well as hook the indy crowd with some of their favorites.

You also forgot William Regal, who while being the GM is still an old school heel who will fuck you up for looking at him cockeyed.

I'd also mention Alex Riley, but LOLRiley. That guy should never rise above being NXT's permanent buttmonkey.

So Scooter seems to think they implicated Kevin Owens as the one that attacked Itami. I honestly thought Owns was just casually walking by and being a dick.
I watched RAW. I thought it sucked. The usual problems and such.

They brought it up on the pre-show. Itami *was* in the Triple Threat Match where the winner would have faced Owens, so...

I see it being Breeze. Finn is the one that came close to taking Owens down not long ago, so why would Owens have attacked him? Breeze had everything to gain by taking out one of the two opponents, and it's not like it would be unheard of for a guy to attack somebody he's faci...

On last week's episode they asked Breeze, Itami and Balor who they would rather face.  Breeze and Balor didn't specify.

Itami specifically called out Owens......

I kinda feel like NXT, at least in the women's division, seems to look at the group and how they are doing and says "okay, we are going to give you a shot" either as the champ or as the number one contender, and the idea is that whomever they put in that role has to prove themselves worthy of that spot. I feel like even though Becky was in the four way and has done good work that this show really was a bit of a coming out party for moving her to a different level.

So in NXT merch news:

- They made a shirt for Itami featuring the Japanese imperial flag. They've since pulled it because I guess the symbolism is still offensive to most people.

- They made a shirt for Becky Lynch that reads "Lass Kicker". They've pulled the mens and child sizes. You can probably guess why.

- Samoa Joe's t-shirt sold out the night of his debut. It's already on back order.

Samoa Joe can seamlessly transition between face and heel so if one day Joe is like, "You know what? I wanna kill Sami Zayn too." It would be believable. Then he and Kevin Owens could team up and Sami could recruit Neville to join him, and they can film a short film on a beach where Hornswoggle tries to blow them up and I really need to go to bed now.

Joe looked the slimmest I've ever seen him since that rookie footage of him competing with blonde hair on Velocity or whatever. Really glad to see him signed to NXT though. I'm not sure who else is left for WWE to grab off of the US indy scene, but they should (and hopefully are) look at signing Zack Sabre Jr from the UK (trained by the same people who trained Devitt/Balor).
You should probably put your bandit hat on now.
