RAW Before The War (5-1-95)

WWF Monday Night RAW
May 1st, 1995 (Taped April 24th, 1995)
From The Civic Auditorium in Omaha, Nebraska
Announcers: Vince McMahon and Jerry Lawler

Last weekend, on the highest rated episode of Monday Night RAW ever (at the time), viewers saw Diesel takes on Bam Bam Bigelow in a WWF World Title match. Diesel won after Bam bam Bigelow was tripped by his friend Tatanka. Was it intentional? After the match, Bam Bam Bigelow was fired from and/or quit the Million Dollar Corporation. Bam Bam got beaten down by IRS, Tatanka, and Ted DiBiase’s crown jewel SID. Diesel ran down to fight off the Corporation and make the save for Bammer. Bam Bam shook hands with Diesel and a new friendship was born. There will be no handshakes tonight! Just hand to hand combat as SID takes on Razor Ramon in our feature match!

Jerry Lawler warns viewer discretion is advised because what SID is gonna do to Da Bad Guy will not be a pretty sight! Jerry Lawler says he’s got an open contract with Bret Hart right here. Vince McMahon says Bret Hart will be here this weekend to confront Lawler about said open contract!

The Allied Powers Vs Ron Hagan and George Anderson
During The Powers’ entrance, Lawler mentions Jeff Jarrett’s been stripped of the Intercontinental Title after a controversial match up with Bob Holly. Owen Hart & Yokozuna was a great example of two singles guys going nowhere who were paired up and made a great tag team. The Allied Powers? Not so much. Vince McMahon says 123 Kid suffered a neck injury and Bob Holly was his replacement against Jeff Jarrett. Hagan wears some ugly ass tights. Lawler gives some fun facts about the jobbers (Anderson has a degree in Fire Science and Hagan works for the City of Des Plaines Water Department) for no reason. Uh, OK. Vince McMahon says last week’s show was the highest rated episode of RAW. Lawler takes credit for this and thinks the ratings would be even higher if Duckman replaced McMahon as the host. Allied Powers win when Bulldog hits the Running Powerslam on Anderson.

We get some clips of the Bob Holly/Jeff Jarrett match from Action Zone yesterday. Double J thought he had the match won with his feet on the rope. Tim White was having none of this and told Earl Hebner what had happened and had the decision reversed. Bob Holly thought he had won with the Flying Clothesline but wait, Jeff Jarrett had his foot on the bottom rope. Tim White charged back down and told Earl what had happened. Man, this was not Earl Hebner’s finest hour as an official. President Jack Tunney is holding up the Intercontinental Title and said Jeff Jarrett will take on Bob Holly in a match for the Intercontinental Title on the Action Zone! Disputed Intercontinental Champ Bob Holly is in action next!

Bob Holly Vs Butler Stevens
Second match in a row with a jobber with ugly ass tights (even by jobber standards). Butler Stevens is wearing pleather! 1995! Vince McMahon wonders who will team with Razor Ramon against Jeff Jarrett & The Roadie at In Your House. Lawler says Butler Stevens works as a pest control operator as his day job. Lawler says he’s gonna call Stevens back out when Bret Hart shows up.  Holly busts up Butler’s nose. Spark Plugg gets the win with a flying crossbody.

Todd Pettingell is here with our In Your House report. Todd in an ugly ass khaki ass suit with purple t-shirt underneath combo. In Your House is only $14.95! That’s less than a full tank of gas! Razor Ramon is demanding his match with Jeff Jarrett & The Roadie go on and it’ll now be a handicap match. Meanwhile, Diesel says he’s gonna get revenge on SID for the Sycho One’s attacks on Shawn Michaels AND Bam Bam Bigelow. Plus Bret Hart takes on the undefeated Hakushi.

Stan Lane narrates an ad for next week’s RAW! WW Tag Team Champion Owen Hart takes on Bart Gunn. Plus it’ll be no fun and games as Jeff Jarrett takes on Doink The Clown.

Mantaur (with Jim Cornette) Vs Sonny Rogers
Mantaur (without his ridiculous headgear but mooing) makes his way out to face Sonny Rogers. Vince McMahon puts over Alundra Blayze’s performance in a TV movie that aired this weekend. McMahon calls SID the master mind of the Million Dollar Corporation. I don’t know if SID could mastermind a trip to the grocery store. Vince says Todd Pettingell will host Mania this weekend from the house they’re giving away at In Your House. Mantaur wins with a powerslam.

Nick Turturo interrogates Man Mountain Rock. Nick Turturo wants to know if he’s a wrestler impersonating a rock and roll guitarist or a rock and roll guitarist impersonating a wrestler. Man Mountain Rock says he’s a rock and roll star and a wrestler. He jams on his guitar and whoops Nick’s ass to prove it. HOW DID WCW THINK THEY COULD COMPETE WITH THIS!?

Razor Ramon Vs Sycho Sid (with Ted DiBiase)
SID LEAPS THROUGH RAZOR RAMON’S PYRO and jumps Da Bad Guy from behind and powerbombs him twice. Diesel runs in and chases SID out of the ring. I guess we can say this match is a no-contest. What a main event. HOW DID WCW THINK THEY COULD COMPETE WITH THIS!?

Adam Bomb Vs Dave Sigfrid
Vince McMahon says we’ll get a report from Ray Rougeau from Razor Ramon’s locker room after this match to get an update on his condition. Adam Bomb’s Nerf Footballs must have been some of the worst selling WWF merchandise. Lawler makes fun of Adam Bomb’s hair which transitions into some toupee jokes about Vince McMahon.Vince and Jerry talk about how Adam Bomb will take on Mabel at In Your House in the first King of the Ring tournament qualifying match. Pfftt. Mabel has no chance at winning that. Mabel as King of the Ring? Preposterous! Adam Bomb wins with a flying clothesline as Lawler makes a “Sigfrid should make himself disappear” crack. Adam Bomb throws some of those Nerf Footballs into the crowd to celebrate the victory.

Ray Rougeau is in Razor Ramon’s locker room. Razor is being tended to by Diesel and the Keystone Cops Crew of Dave Hebner, Rene Goulet, and Tony Garea. Razor’s in no condition to talk so he talks to the official for the Ramon-SID match, Earl Hebner and asks what the heck happened. Earl Hebner doesn’t know! Thanks for the insight! Not a great week for Earl Hebner.

And now a word with Hunter Hearst Helmsley. Hunter Hearst Helmsley talks about civility and asks if anyone is listening. Triple H says no and the promo ends.

Men on a Mission Vs Kevin Kruger and Bill Duke
MOM are still rapping but now they’re bullying the crowd into waving their hands because they’re heels, ya see. Vince McMahon plugs John Goodman in King Ralph. Lawler calls out John Goodman for being an impostor King. MOM win when Mabel hits a belly to belly suplex on Duke. Some fan dances to MOM’s heel theme.

Fans are chanting “We Want Bret Hart” as Lawler looks anxious. Vince McMahon tells us Razor Ramon should be fine as his pride is what hurts more than anything. We’ll have an update next week which segues into Vince hyping next week’s double main event. Bret Hart charges out. Bret’s here to answer Lawler’s accusation that he signed a match with Hakushi to avoid a match with The King. Bret Hart says Jerry Lawler is a LIAR!  Bret says he’s got a commitment to wrestle Hakushi at In Your House and he will beat him. Lawler calls Bret a spineless. The Hitman tells King to SHADDUP! After Bret’s done beating Hakushi, he’ll take on Jerry Lawler and wipe the ring with him at In Your House. Bret Hart’s gonna wrestle TWO matches at In Your House. Bret says he’ll take Jerry Lawler to the OUTHOUSE at In Your House! Lawler laughs maniacally in response. Jeez, what a crappy RAW after a pretty good show last week.

Next Week on RAW: Jeff Jarrett takes on his old rival Doink The Clown in the first of our two feature matches. In the second feature, WWF Tag Team Champion Owen Hart takes on Bart Gunn! Plus an exclusive interview with SID and Ted DiBiase!
