WWE Superstars – October 3rd, 2013

WWE Superstars – 10/3/2013

“One of a Kind” hits and Rob Van Dam makes his way to the ring with Ricardo Rodriguez.

Tom Phillips and Alex Riley promote Battleground this weekend while the music of Curt Hawkins plays, leading the former WWE Tag Team Champion to the ring to square off against RVD.

Rob Van Dam vs. Curt Hawkins

RVD and Hawkins face off before RVD quickly tosses Hawkins.  Hawkins, now with short hair, starts trying to complain that Van Dam pulled his hair.

Van Dam ties up and takes down Hawkins.  Hawkins tries to pull his way out with his hands and legs before making a quick pin that RVD kicks out of.

Both men up, RVD runs the ropes but Hawkins gets a kick to the jaw that knocks him out of the ring.

Van Dam comes flying out of the ring to knock down Hawkins and he high fives his Numero Uno Amigo, Ricardo Rodriguez.

RVD makes a quick pin attempt but Curt kicks out.  Hawkins does get a kick in and gets a small burst of offense bouncing RVD to the ropes and getting a near-fall via clothesline.

Curt hits RVD in the head a few times while the crowd gets a very vocal RVD chant going.  Frustrated, Hawkins nails a suplex.  Riley tells us Hawkins grew up an RVD fan and is motivated tonight, claiming Rob snubbed him for an autograph, which A-Ry questions the validity of.

RVD is able to nail his monkey flip as we see a guy in the crowd with a Wyatt Sheep mask join him with the RVD finger point.

Magic moments here on Superstars.

RVD plugs Hawkins with another kick to the chin and nails the Rolling Thunder.  Ricardo starts signaling to RVD who goes up top for the Five Star Frog Splash.

Winner: Rob Van Dam

RVD wins a nice little match on his march the World Heavyweight Championship match at Battleground.

Graphic airs from Monday’s Rhodes Family Summit.

The Rhodes Family segment re-airs, followed by the promise to replay Paul Heyman’s Proposal to The Ryback.

The entire Heyman-Punk-Ryback saga from Monday is replayed for about thirteen minutes of this forty-two minute program.

Damien Sandow makes his way to the ring with his Money in the Bank briefcase.  The crowd is booing him pretty loudly before he gets on the mic but they like him even less once he starts talking.

Sandow manages to get in the last word with the crowd when the music of Justin Gabriel hits.  Gabriel comes out with a new ponytail while A-Ry talks about all the wildlife he has fought.

Damien Sandow vs. Justin Gabriel

The announcers put over the Sandow-Ziggler kickoff show, where Riley tells us that the Tag Team Turmoil preshow match on Night of Champions was the best match of the night.

Sandow quickly takes control and gets an early two count on Gabriel.

Damien sends Justin to the ropes but when he tries to duck, Justin performs a backslide.

After a kickout, both men go to the outside, where Sandow re-takes control.  He grounds Gabriel with some stomps and picks him up for a headbutt before throwing the Capetown Werewolf in the corner.

Gabriel gets some momentum and is able to turn the tide on Mr. Money in the Bank.  As he goes for a dropkick, Sandow grabs the ropes and nails Justin one more time before shouting “YOU’RE WELCOME” as Superstars goes to commercial.

Back to the action, Sandow is kicking out but he quickly nails a nice suplex on Justin Gabriel.  The Intellectual Savior picks up the former Nexus member again but is rolled up for a two count.

Sandow gets Gabriel in the ropes where he begins bludgeoning him with punches.  He signals to the crowd that it is time for the Elbow of Disdain, which connects for a two count.

Sandow locks Gabriel around the waist.  Both men get to their feet, where Justin breaks the hold and moments later, tosses Damien to the outside.

Mr. Money in the Bank comes back in the ring but gets some knees to the face from the Darewolf, who was waiting in the corner.

Gabriel uses his speed to avoid Sandow and throws one of his famous kicks to the faces.  He howls before splashing Sandow in the corner.  He does a jump to the ropes crossbody for another near-fall.

One more high impact move by Gabriel, another failed pin attempt.

Sandow charges, eats an elbow.  Gabriel goes high risk again but Damien takes his legs out. Cover for two.

Sandow does a Full Nelson Slam and picks up a win.

Winner: Damien Sandow

Sandow announces his impending World Title win to the crowd as some replays of the match air and the announcers mention once again Sandow vs. Ziggler for free on Sunday’s pre-show.

Graphic airs for the recap of the Orton-Bryan confrontation of Monday.

A minute long trailer for HHH: Thy Kingdom Come airs before a couple minute video package of Orton and Bryan to end the last Superstars before WWE Battleground.
