WWE Superstars – September 12th, 2013

WWE Superstars – 9/12/2013

As Superstars begins, the Usos are on the stage doing their intro.

Alex Riley is very excited ringside to tell us about the numbers he has been researching for Night of Champions as 3MB’s music hits.

Jinder Mahal and Heath Slater come out but no Drew McIntyre, who the announcers tell us is out scouting concert venues.

The Usos vs. Heath Slater & Jinder Mahal

The announcers point out both teams are in the pre-show Tag Team Turmoil at Night of Champions, while we don’t know if this is the team 3MB will use.

Slater and Uso start off with a posedown before Jimmy and Heath lock up.  Heath knocks Jimmy down and does a guitar pose, which upsets the crowd.  Jimmy trips up Heath and both men begin exchanging offense. We hear that Jimmy has cut carbs and is down nine pounds in a week.

Jey gets tagged in and the Usos perform some double teams, as we hear Jey has a fever of 102 and flu-like symptoms.

Jinder comes in and stomps away on the ill Uso.  Mahal performs an Irish whip before getting kicked in the face and locked up.  Maybe if Uso is sick enough, he can threaten to breathe on or lick Mahal for submission.

The grapplers get into the Uso corner and the Usos set a few quick tags to utilize some tandem  moves. We wind up with Jey back in for a pin attempt but after the pin fails, another quick tag brings Jimmy back.

Jinder gets out of the ring and Jimmy goes flying over. Clearly the no carbs are working.

Jimmy scales the top rope and Heath runs to try to knock him off but gets a punch for his trouble.  As Jimmy goes down, Jinder is able to avoid it and bring in Slater, who lays a fury of fists and strong kick to Uso before Superstars goes to its first commercial.

Back from break, Mahal has Jimmy isolated.  He works over him briefly before bringing Slater in.  Heath locks in a chinlock.  Jimmy struggles while the crowd tries to rally him back in.  Jimmy tries to fight free but gets a Slater neckbreaker.

Jinder back in the match, he has Uso in the 3MB corner and starts dropping knees to Uso’s head before the referee backs him up.

Slater tagged back in and the crowd starts up an Uso chant.  Jimmy slips out of a slam from Heath and Jey comes in with a house of fire.  He knocks down Slater, knocks Mahal off the apron and starts punishing Heath with a series of moves before doing the butt splash in the corner.

Pin attempt broken by Mahal, who gets chased off by Jimmy. They square away Heath, make Jimmy the legal man and do the big splash finish build some steam going into Tag Team Turmoil.

Winners: The Usos

The announcers introduce the recap of The Cutting Edge from Monday.  Riley gets very excited when he talks about Edge being able to “spit the truth” because he is not under contract.  We join the segment shortly before Orton interrupts.

Recap follows of Paul Heyman-Brad Maddox segment investigating Heyman’s “injury”.

Zack Ryder’s music hits and the crowd seems pretty happy to see him.

Big E Langston comes out next.  It will be interesting to see where Big E goes.  His recent appearance on Main Event confirmed Langston is now “on his own” and he has been working the house show circuit in more of a babyface role.

Zack Ryder vs. Big E Langston

Zack tries to lock up Langston but Langston tosses him effortlessly.  Ryder driven into the corner and Langston smashes away on Zack.

Zack nails a knee and gets a quick advantage with some quickness.  The crowd actually breaks out in a brief BIG E LANGSTON chant.

Langston gets to the outside and Zack nails a few kicks from in the ring.  He dives to the outside but is caught by Big E and tossed into the barricade.

Langston gets the Woo Woo Kid back in the ring but unable to make the pin.  As Langston gets Ryder in an abdominal stretch, Alex Riley starts comparing Langston to the NFL’s James Harrison.

Langston lays some fists to Ryder before he whips him and tosses Zack into the air. Zack is able to get a quick shot in to back off Langston but Big E responds with a big clothesline.

The Master of the Five Count tosses Ryder around a bit but comes up empty on a big splash attempt.  Ryder lays some knees into the face of his opponent before a nice missile dropkick.  The crowd is surprisingly very into this match.

Broski boot connects but as always, Ryder only gets a two count.

Ryder starts riling up the crowd, goes for the Rough Ryder but is caught in a powerbomb.  Langston brings the straps down and picks up Long Island Iced Z for the Big Ending to end it.

Winner: Big E Langston
