Tenay deserves to be remembered the same way the rose-colored glasses IWC crowd remember Joey Styles.
Co-signed. He was only bad when they overly scripted him, and his "HOLY SHIT, IT'S VINCE RUSSO" call is still great.

I'll still defend Styles to this day. Awful politics aside, he's still one of my all-time favorite commentators. Having said that, I am glad he bowed out when he did because he 100% would have wound up saying something that would have ruined his legacy (if it isn't already).

Obviously, being analyst/third man in the booth is what was his strong suit but I think he grew into a fairly strong PBP guy by the time he reached TNA.

People who think he's a crappy PBP guy are probably just remembering his work on late era WCW B/C shows. Weirdly, the most vocal "Tenay sucks as a PBP guy" person is Bischoff, who either produced his WCW B/C show work or just didn't care and left him out there to flail.

Tenay's legacy as a pbp guy is just tied to him turning into one after years of not being one, and working with a guy in Don West who had no experience in wrestling at all. Of course it was a rough start for both but they ended up very solid. People who don't like Tenay are people who don't like West and push all the most negative aspects on Tenay.

It's fucking dumb, but it's aged so much better than it deserves to. As our tolerance for stupid shit has changed, so has our appreciation of Puppet, the Johnsons, and Cheex. They knew all along. But the real anniversary is gonna be when Puppet pulled a gun on Jarrett.

Goldie was very 2000s porno attractive. Again I think I appreciate this in hindsight vs at the time.

Didn't Traci Brooks do a Playboy shoot as well? Not to mention Jasmin St. Claire showed up and I'm sure a number of the peripheral talent did some sort of nudity somewhere. Not to forget that lady that always sat in the front row that flashed Jonah from Tough Enough!

Mickie had the fetish shoot that was hilarious. Tracey was sadly the most TNA Playboy model there could be, getting bumped from the magazine to special online girl of the week or something which no one was interested in.

It's a little silly that 1998 WWF used sex better on censored cable than TNA ever really did during the weekly ppv days. I don't care how it sounds, it's a missed opportunity in the context of the era. Could've had shows that combined the workrate of a peak Nitro and the overall sportz entertainment of that DX home video.

Yeah for the risque branding and hype, TNA usually just topped out at a hard PG-13 and really wasn't that much worse than '98-'99 WWF besides a few incidents.

Jarrett and Russo knew they couldn't compete with Women's Extreme Wrestling. S.E.X. had nothing on the Pussy World Order.

I mean I'm not saying go straight up XPW-style porno sleaze, but like, you're booking Jasmin St. Clair. You only book her for two reasons and Rhino wasn't around to put her through a table.

I know it was death throes of company but it's weird Jason Jett/EZ Money wasn't able to translate his hot, brief WCW run into another bigger opportunity. He didn't even get to debut on a canonical TNA show. He had to debut on Xplosion!

As much as I like and will defend Kazarian, that spot should've been EZ's.

Given that his dad was outed for being a creep, maybe there were some character issues we didn't know about.

Checking his Wikipedia, it looks like he did finally get an TNA World Heavyweight title shot...in 2015!
"Matches You Didn't Think Existed" thread crosspost.

There's something charmingly quaint about someone using a camcorder to film a match in 2015. RASSLIN! I wonder if CWM tried to peer pressure tekcop into going to this show.

Marilyn Mansondust would've been too obtuse for the youth.
