Nominations will be announced in the morning so this thread will be updated with everything. Please share your thoughts and predictions for the big day on March 2.

The academy announced there won't be any musical performances of any nominayed songs on this year's broadcast. The latest attempt to cut down on its runtime.

No musical performances when that's generally the most entertaining part of the show is a choice.

I've been calling for it for years, but I feel like I'm one of the few. I generally am not a fan of the style of music they usually showcase. There's some exceptions like Eminem or Three Six Mafia. But, mostly I ignore the musical performances and look at something else.

As long as they show clips of the nominated acting performances. I'm gonna watch for Conan regardless.

My man Guy Pearce getting a nod! As much as I love that, this is Kieran's year.

Lots of wild cards this year which is awesome. Brady Corbet morphing into an Oscar caliber director makes me so happy and Adrien Brody and Demi Moore getting comeback nods is incredible. I thought Sebastian Stan was better in A Different Man so shocked to see he got nominated for the Apprentice (though the latter was a stronger movie overall).

Animated has to go to Wild Ro bot but I heard Flow was phenomenal so I'll need to watch that and see.

I saw some online discourse surrounding Emilia Perez but that might have just been some Twitter/reddit echo chamber nonsense.

I don't think I've seen any of those docs. Gotta get on that.

Animated is a murderers row, I lean Flow but won’t have issue with Wild Robot.

The discourse is gonna be strong with Perez and Brutalist, a lot of mud already being thrown both directions.

Brody is likely losing his youngest best actor achievement to Timmy and he’s gonna be there for it, will be interesting reaction there.

It’s also jarring still to see how international this has become so fast.

Substance got five noms so I'm ecstatic. Great win for horror. Love the Coralie nom. I hate musicals though, so this will be a year I don't watch a couple of the movies. Emelia Perez sounds awful, so I'm fine missing that. And Wicked is not my thing either.

No real big snubs either. Would've liked A Real Pain to snag one of the last BP slots. Not nominating Edward Berger for Conclave is a surprise. I see people pissed about Challengers getting shut out, but I didn't care for that movie tbh. The score was great though and deserved a nom.

I'm happily shocked about the Substance love. I would have never expected a best pic nom for it, wow! Totally a shocker on all accounts. I think Demi has a very strong chance to win best actress also, as the rest of those on that list don't strike me as winners really, although Mikey Madison killed it in Anora. But can't see them going with her, and Demi will probably get that legacy type of win.

I was a bit concerned Dune Part 2 was going to be totally kicked to the side, glad it turned out it wasn't, particularly in the technical awards. But glad it got a best pic nom also.

Conclave got a ton of love this year, has anyone seen that hiting that hard? It fell through the cracks for me but I will obviously get to it now to check it out.

The Apprentice best actor and supporting actor noms caught me a bit by surprise, but well deserved. The film itself was kinda messy at times, but the performances of those two were extraordinary for sure. I dont know if either will win, but good to see them make the lists.

Flow was by far my fav animated film not just of last year, but of maybe the last decade. I can't say enough good things about it, saw it twice and I'd gladly see it a third. I could see it certainly win best animated, best international might be a tough one.

Without seeing it yet and judging by awards results so far, it feels like this is the year for Brutalist...I will probably get to it (I think this year has the most films I have yet to see on the best pic list) but that run-time for that one as well as the general story of that film does not endear me to sit through.

Conclave is worth the hype. Manages to be one of the year's most thrilling movies, with a story that could be really dull in the wrong hands. The score and directing helped with tension. Berger deserves the director nom over Mangold or Audiard. And the acting was great top to bottom. Fiennes gives one of his best performances. Tucci and Lithgow deliver their usual stellar stuff. I also thought some of the lesser known actors were as good as the name actors. The guys playing Tedesco, Benitez, and Adeyami were perfect. And should have more oscar buzz than Isabella Rosellini. Phenomenal actress, but she's in it for 8 minutes and does nothing memorable. It's insane that she is nominated for this, yet they snubbed her for Blue Velvet.

I'd nominate Flow for best picture, director, sound, and every award possible. It's got a shot at Animated, but I think Wild Robot takes it. And from what I hear, it's nearly as good. International Feature is stacked and I can't see it beating Emilia Perez or I'm Still Here.

I can't wait to see Nickel Boys btw. Sounds like a really powerful movie.

I'm rarely seeing any love anywhere online for Emelia Perez and many are saying it'll be the worst winner since Crash if it wins. Both the Trans and Mexican communities hate the movie, and feel like it's leaning too hard into negative stereotypes.

That said, this is great to see, and from what I read, her and Saldana are way better than the material. Cool stuff.
