Of course, most of us prefer music that's less mainstream, but I thought it would fun to see TRTSM's collective opinion on the most popular songs of the previous decade. So, the bracket would include songs that reached number one on the Billboard Hot 100 between 2000-2009. There's 129 songs in total, enough for seven rounds and one "play-in" matchup. Not sure how the seedings will be determined yet, perhaps by the number of weeks spent at #1 or the popularity of the artist. We could also hold a vote for the #1 seeds (as well as the bottom two songs) and go from there.

There's actually enough there for a perfect eight rounds of sixteen if you just get rid of "Butterfly." I hope "Crank Dat" wins.

That said, the 80s tournament was a bust, and pop music is objectively much worse now than then, so I feel there will not be tremendous interest in this tournament.

My God; I hadn't realized just how shitty the last decade of popular music was until I looked at that list.

There's like, 1 song on that list I like. That's it. Jesus.

2001 and 2002 for me was good. I have to confess to enjoying "Hey Mister" by Custom (the video of which was banned from MTV for reasons I can't remember), and "Its Goin' Down" by The Executioners.
