Here's a fun exercise. Not asking for your 20 favourite albums, that would require far more thought than any of us should be willing to put into it in the year 2021. Numbers aren't rankings, was just keeping count and can't be arsed to delete them manually

man I think you're the only person I've ever seen (presumably) state a preference for "Heroes" over Low :D

I like it but don't find the second half instrumentals as memorable or compelling as they were on the latter

just realised that 1/4 of the albums on my list are from 1995, apparently a banner year for music

And you didn't even include Cracked Rear View! * **

*That might have been '94.

** for some reason, I highly doubt Hootie & The Blowfish crossed over to the UK.

Man... obviously in no order but as they come to mind (dunno if I even own more than 30 CDs, period). Doesn't help I've always been more of a "singles"/playlist type music fan than a pure album fan. Also no shock at my eclectic list. This was way harder than it should've been for me. I tried to target albums I was more intimately familiar with so it's basically a "Favorite Albums" without proper ranking.

1: Alanis Morisette - Jagged Little Pill
2: Nirvana - Nevermind
3: Nirvana - In Utero
4: The Offspring - Smash
5: Unfinished Thought - Based on Actual Events
6: Metallica - Metallica aka Black Album
7: Oasis - (What's the Story) Morning Glory
8: Red Hot Chili Peppers - Californication
9: Sex Pistols - Nevermind the Bullocks
10: Evanescence - Fallen
11: T.A.T.U. - 200 km/H In the Wrong Lane
12: Sarah McLachlan - Fumbling Towards Ecstacy
13: Connie Dover - The Border of Heaven
14: Black Sabbath - Black Sabbath
15: Rasputina - Thanks For the Ether
16: David Bowie - Hunky Dory
17: Garbage - Version 2.0
18: The Smashing Pumpkins - Mellon Collie & The Infinite Sadness
19: Portishead - Dummy
20: The Beatles - Please Please Me

I should've and could've included Kanye West- 808s & Heartbreak but he has been such an ass in the last 5 years that I can see why I forgot him. Although the reminders of murkiness around Michael Jackson's child molestation accusations being brought up again wasn't enough to keep him off my list (multiple times and I would've included more if I felt need not to include more than one an artist) so whatcanItellya?

I was gifted Scattered, Smothered, and Covered for my a birthday. Hootie was so non-threatening. But it was their album of covers and I remember it wasn't that b-

Ooh yeah. I should've remembered to put a Daft Punk album on mine. Discovery and Random Access Memories both dominated my playlists for years after they came out.

Godspeed You! Black Emperor - Lift Your Skinny Fists Like Antennas to the Sky
Mogwai - Mr. Beast
Low - The Great Destroyer
Prince - Purple Rain
Led Zeppelin - Led Zeppelin III
Mastodon - Leviathan
Slayer - Reign in Blood
The Dillinger Escape Plan - Miss Machine
Dying Fetus - Destroy the Opposition
Tori Amos - Silent All These Years
AC/DC- Highway to Hell
Yoshiko Sai - Mangekyou (70's Japanese rock. It's so good!)
Megadeth - Peace Sells... but Who's Buying?

That's all I can do off the top of my head. I don't listen to a lot of music anymore. I'd could probably add another album each for Godspeed You!, Mogwai, and Prince. But I'm not sure which ones and looking would be cheating. Also missing Aphex Twin and Faith No More. Iron Maiden's gotta be on here somewhere, too. Maybe some more thrash metal?

I forgot about Post Rock or Post Metal while making the list. Godspeed, Slint, Neurosis, Jesu, Mogwai, Sigur Ros, Isis (NOT THAT ISIS), all had albums that could've made my list if I didn't forget. There's too much music.

Good call on Sleater-Kinney @Brocklock I probably would've said Dig Me Out or All Hands on the Bad One if I had dropped one of their albums though.

I was close on Call The Doctor, Dig Me Out, Or The Woods. I love the bigger scale and longer songs of The Woods. But, really you can't go wrong with most of their discography, although the last album was kind of eh and I don't like how the band is trending with Janet leaving.

Was not expecting alkeiper to be a Coil fan (this is not meant as an insult BTW. I was gonna add them, but went with Tangerine Dream at the last moment)

Shit I should've put Dear Catastrophe Waitress. I like the spontaneous list making though. Just underthink.
