I respected CWM's wishes and waited several months to start this thread instead of election night. Post your predictions for the next presidential election here. Will the Democrats step up and take it all back?

I still need to be sold on her a little but Vance/AOC in a millennial bloodbath anyone?

A certain segment will insist on Sanders no matter what, but I think AOC might be best for '28.

I wonder how many Bernie Bros from '16 are trumpers now.

AOC would be a good candidate if she'd accomplished much of anything. There's no way that she'd get the nomination from the Dems without compromising what makes her so respected by left-leaning millennials and zoomers, if they even were to pay her lip service in the first place (since they know damn well that they're targeted by her rhetoric, as well).

Newsom may have a shot, but he's another whose track record isn't as great as his rhetoric. He does, however, come off as a big enough asshole that anyone the GOP fields will have a hard time looking strong during debates.

If he shows interest, Booker could have a shot. The 25 hour speech is the kind of stunt that could prove effective and offer the right soundbites to sway the middle ground.

Assuming she retains her seat next year, by 2028 AOC will have more than twice as much federal legislative experience as Barack Obama circa 2008.

Booker would also be a good candidate and, I think, the long speech strengthens that.

Both, however, would have some of the same racist/misogynist roadblocks that (imo) impacted Harris's campaign.

Maybe people shouldn't vote based on hate ginned up by Rush Limbaugh 30+ years ago and, instead, vote for their own and their family's best interests.

I think at least Booker could overcome it, though. The way he carries himself is much more professional while still being willing to "shoot from the hip" if need be.

I want Pete Buttigieg to have a prominent role in a Dem administration and think he would be a great President based on dealing with facts and reason and the way he Carrie’s himself. I also think Beshear would do well. He has the respect of many Republicans in his home state of Kentucky in an era when saying anything positive about the other side of the aisle is basically forbidden.

If Buttigieg was the Presidential candidate with Beshear as VP, I would like that very much.

I think Buttigieg and Beshear are good candidates as well. Buttigieg is a white male but may have an obstacle from the people worried about woke or whatever. Beshear does not appear to have any of the baggage that bothers so many American voters. Of course, neither did Tim Walz and the gop was still able to make the 'tampon tim' lie stick.

I hope that Newsom is wrong to lean into being cool with maga. I hope that, by 2028, the unrelentingly online 'left' and the cool with it folks are marginalized by Trump's failures that any of the above listed possibilities have a genuine chance to flip the White House and, by then, at least the House.

Booker is a performative jackass. He could have did what he did on way too many issues that he "championed" while angling for his current position.

I reallllllly want AOC to run, but I fear it'll be Newsom that gets the nod.
