A Gamestop employee tried suckering me into a DSi early last year when I picked up a DS Lite. I kindly asked why would I want to sacrifice backwards compatibility for 2 shitty low-res cameras? I received no response.

Not really. No one but idiots (and Matt) will buy this. People who bought a DSi have lost out on nothing. Just like people who bought a DS Lite have lost out on nothing.

DS Lite was where I stopped. Even if the DSi had a GBA slot, I doubt I would've bought one.

I only ever use it (or my PSP) when I am on trips.. so not that often.

What should they do? Stop all development and just focus on marketing or something? I don't think there are evil intentions by Nintendo by releasing new products. I'd rather they release new products every year, even if it means I miss a few, than have them hold back and try to "strategically" release them later.

How about further supporting and developing the platform that they JUST RELEASED - ie: in terms of firmware and software. They seem to have this "no, this one is enough for now" mentality with the Wii.. but their handheld scene (while they sell well) is a freaking fiasco. They're getting to be worse than Apple..

Unless you want the bigger screen, there really is no reason to buy a DSi; you can get a cheap digital camera if you want pictures and most of the DSiWare games are reportedly the same kind of crap that clogs up Apple's App Store. You are basically paying $40 more for window dressing and unfilled potential.
