I've been threatening the board with some type of boring rock thread for months now, so it's time I delivered. Why the 70s? Well, it's probably the least-explored decade for me, personally, so I decided to a deep-dive on it and this came out as the end-result. I was pretty generous with the term "rock" here. Basically anything from pop-rock to mainstream metal was explored. I also tried to keep it restricted to singles, popular album cuts (or cuts from popular albums), and "influential" tracks that may not have gotten as much mainstream attention, but were integral to the evolution of whatever the hell rock was defined as at the moment.
What I'm trying to say is that this is basically a mish-mash of good shit from the 70s. I also tried not to let personal-bias seep too much into this, otherwise, 1/4 of it would be Black Sabbath or Bruce Springsteen. Along those lines, I tried to keep some variety with the list so some artists wouldn't appear a disproportionate amount of times -- basically aping those stupid lists put out by Rolling Stone or Vh1. With that said, I'm sure I'm not gonna have enough of so-and-so or I shouldn't have put x over y, but everyone knows everything from numbers 21-400+ on these lists is usually arbitrarily ranked bullshit. Finally, something is classified as "1970s" if it was first released on an album or as a single during the decade.
I'll be doing updates of 20, every Monday and Friday, unless I have other shit going on.
