That’s insulting. If that was really the plan, you don’t make Eddie Kingston and your announcers look like fucking idiots by selling it the way they did.
Also: This was a good learning experience for Excalibur. Call what is actually happening, not what is supposed to be happening. And, worst case, if you think doing that is going to do more harm than good, then keep your commentary as minimal as possible and let the action speak for itself.
I get what you're saying, to a point, but it's not like they're stealing current stars here. WWE may have wanted to use Christian, but that doesn't suddenly mean he's not been around for 20+ years; it just means WWE doesn't know how to make new stars anymore.
I understand why people complain when older workers get brought in. But I have so little interest in so many wrestlers under 40 right now that I don't care if we get Christian vs. Tully at the next PPV.
I understand why they have to use the "Christian Cage" name. But having him still come out to the jobber-ass ripoff of Evanescence's "My Last Breath" makes it feel like AEW signed the TNA guy from 2007, not the Attitude Era legend who WWE made hot again just a month ago. They could at least spring for the real song!
