Since we've already got a thread for Eminem, I thought we should have one too for the true king of Detroit Rock City. His name is Kiiiiiiiiiiiiid; KID ROCK. Now I'm sure a lot of you are making a face like this ::) right now but bear with me. Kid Rock rules.

Kid Rock - Bawitdaba (Enhanced Video)

Has an artist ever exploded onto the scene with such a definitive statement of purpose? I don't think so. Like a primal scream howled into the abyss, "Bawitdaba" perfectly captured the confusion and discontent of the late Clinton era. Peeling back the sunny exterior of pre-millennial America, Rock here reveals and revels in a world of junkies, prostitutes, petty criminals and wasted midwestern youth. Many complained that the chorus was "nonsense," but in some situations, real words just aren't enough.

So what are some of your favorite Kid Rock songs?

This thread reflects best I think rap music's recent run of dominance in the music folder.

I think Kid Rock is one of the more creative musicians from the late nineties because he followed in the footsteps of some true greats before him like ZDLR but instead of mixing rap with metal he was all about staying true to his country roots. Kids from Illinois, Wisconsin and other places in America's Heartland could now identify with a rapper like they couldn't before. He bridged cultural boundaries, for sure.

Kid Rock - Cowboy

No song better exemplifies that than Cowboy. Urban youths line dance swaggin arm in arm with trailer park badboys? Kid Rock was the first to really unite the spirit of the proletariat in America, crossing racial barriers in the process. He was the 99%.

The chorus of "Bawitdaba" is hot fire; verses are weak, though. As lousy as the song is, it's still better crunk rock than any of Limp Bikit's bullshit.

My parents are huge Kid Rock fans. I think it's wonderful that somebody has united the absolute worst qualities of two or three different varieties of humanity.

Earlier tonight one of my (several) very attractive female friends got to talking about how much she loved Kid Rock. A few moments later, she corrected herself and said she meant "Aesop Rock," but I'm gonna still count it.

I take it from the time stamp that despite painting the town red last night, you didn't paint her ass white (Kid Rock, "Cowboy")

Kid Rock was ahead of the auto-tune curve by almost a decade. A truly revolutionary talent.

And Zapp was ahead of the auto-tune curve by 2 decades at that point.
